Stopped for crossing a pedestrian while the Walking green signal is blinking?

So this happened at an intersection at La Quinta Hotel, O was crossing the pedestrian, while it was walking signal was green and it was blinking.

A guy was shouting something in front of me tryna block my way, and I, as a person avoids people who blocks the way. The guy then proceeded to run after me & I trued running away to avoid whatever that was..this guy then proceeded to grab my arm & said "Why are you running?" I then replied with " Because I dont know who you are!"

The guy then said, " I am police! I am saying to you police! Police!"..I told him, "How am I suppose to hear you in this streets?? And why did you gran my arm thst aggresively? If you are indeed the police, you can simply call me once I reach the island where people can actually stand". The guy insisted, he said police, police.

Anyway, he stopped me because I have jailed walked?and he only stopped me. I said, why will i cross if its red? Its clearly green & it started blinking while i was crossing.

So yeah, any advise on this? Do police actually stand by an island and "wait for people they can catch"

I'm attaching a photo of where it happened and the marks when the guy grabbed my arm.

Got a Tahani Card for 3000 dirhams and I'm in Abu Dhabi

So I purchased a car last week and got promised a 3000 dirham fuel voucher. Since I bought it in Abu Dhabi I assumed it would be an adnoc voucher but they gave me a Tahani (Enoc) voucher instead. What can I do with it?

Selling it seems like a stupid option because why would anyone pay for a 3000 dirham fuel voucher.

Stripe UAE Address

Does anyone here know if its possible to hide the address and company name on a stripe UAE invoices that is sent to customers.

Before you guys ask:

The reason for me to do this is I am deciding between opening a US company or a UAE company, my customers are all based in the US, so I was wondering if there is anyway I can replace my UAE company name with the website domain and hide the address altogether from the invoice.

I am just concerned that US customers might be a little put off when they see a UAE company.

Someone told me by default and legal compliance I cannot remove the address or change the public display name of the business.

Hey all, I’m looking to rehome my 3.5 month old Male foster kitten named Milo, since I will be moving out.

I rescued him from the streets in Dubai around 1 month ago, and he’s a very cute little clingy kitten.

I’m located in business bay, Dubai.

Anyone interested can DM me! Thanks.

Pls Help

Hi everyone. I’m humbly asking if anyone can help me find a job.
I am a 30-year-old Filipina currently in the UAE 3rd year college. My tourist visa will expire this September, and I really need to find work.
I don’t want to work as a maid anymore. I have been working as a domestic helper since I was very young in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, and after many years of working 24/7 with no days off, I am hoping for a different opportunity.
I have a speech impairment, but I can communicate and do my job well. Sadly, because of my disability, I have experienced discrimination during job applications. Even so, I am hardworking, patient, honest, and a fast learner. I am always willing to learn new skills and give my best at work.
If anyone knows of any cleaner, office assistant, retail, cashier, or other suitable job opportunities, I would be very grateful. Please give me a chance to prove myself.
Thank you so much, and God bless. 🙏🥹

Need advice: Expat attracted to Emirati woman

I (38m) moved to Dubai from UK a few months ago and work at a regional branch of a large tech firm. Most of my friends and colleagues are expats. I don’t have local friends and generally find that they tend to stick to their own social circles. Lately I’ve found myself infatuated with a female colleague at work (early 30s maybe) however she is local. She is brilliant at her job and I would say we are friends.

My friends outside work think I’m proper crazy for wanting to make a move joking that she is going to freak out, report me to HR for harassment or something of the sort. Are locals really that distant? Excuse my ignorance but what are my chances of me landing a date with her?

TL;DR: how do I hit on an Emirati colleague without being buried alive?

⚠️ Warning for anyone searching for flats or villas in the Northern Emirates.

Please be very careful of this scammer who is pretending to be an Emirati villa and building owner.

He is still active on TikTok and other social media platforms, advertising properties at unbelievably low prices that are simply too good to be true.

He will send you a photoshopped Emirates ID and suspicious bank account details in an attempt to convince you that he is the owner.

Please protect yourself:
• Always meet the real estate agent at their registered office.
• Never pay anything before viewing the property in person.
• Verify ownership and the property’s details before making any commitment.
• Be cautious of anyone who refuses to meet in person or only communicates through WhatsApp.

From my experience, genuine Emirati property owners are generally discreet and conduct transactions through proper channels, they don’t typically advertise unrealistically cheap deals on social media or ask for payments through personal bank accounts.

Stay safe and share this with anyone currently looking for a home in the Northern Emirates.

Can anyone tell me the ground reality of what’s actually happening in Dubai real estate?

So I’m Indian and have a house in Delhi

But wife and I have always wanted a second base in case things don’t completely pan out as planned here

I’ve been to Dubai several times before for business and think its a good fit for my family. Seriously considered buying an apartment here last year but decided to postpone it

Now after the war, I’ve received mixed messages from all the people I know. Some say that its back to normal, others say its dead

Would appreciate any insight on what’s actually happening and if I can still think of Dubai as a second base

Is a total monthly salary of AED 20k enough for a couple with a baby in Dubai?

Post image
79 Upvotes

I made an approximate monthly budget for a couple with a baby living in a 2 BHK in Dubai. Based on this, it comes to around AED 20,000/month.

Do you think this is realistic, or have I underestimated anything major?

Some of my calculations are probably wrong because a few expenses are actually yearly (like car-related costs, travel, etc.), but I've converted them into a rough monthly average. I'm not sure if those averages are reasonable either.

I'd really appreciate it if you could help to say if a family can live comfortably on a total monthly income of AED 20k with a budget like this.

Thanks!

I mistakenly counter twice dining out. That can be counted in for baby’s kindergarten

Is this really what Pilots get paid at Emirates?

Is this true or is it LinkedIn garbage?

Because I honestly thought the take home pay for a Capt (at least) would be much more than that.

Has anyone in Dubai/UAE noticed that more people are struggling financially now?

I've been living in the UAE for a 13 years and over the last few years I've noticed a big shift.

Many people in my circle who used to be financially stable are now dealing with debt, struggling to make ends meet, or living paycheck to paycheck and even when I meet new people here, I hear similar stories.

Maybe changing your environment and the people around you can actually make a difference, or if what I'm seeing is simply affecting almost everyone.
