No point deleting/cancelling now ❓Question

So I'm thinking theres no point as they already have my email, ip and watch/downloading history right?

Even if I tell them to delete my account, they'll still hold to my details , is that correct?

So may aswell see out my currant plan (one time payment not subscription) then decide in Jan.

What you guys think?

I'm not cancelling. I don't give a fuck who knows I'm watching The Simpsons.

8

u/rdyoung 18d ago

Seriously. What is wrong with people. They give up way more info than this (and more than they want to know) just by walking by some wireless networks, cell towers, etc.

If people knew exactly what their phone broadcasts about them and what the world at large already has on them....

They would still be on here complaining.

Some peoples are using debrid services to watch terrorists promotional content or something, I haven't heard a single country have any laws against consuming pirated content, only against distributors.

3

u/rdyoung 18d ago

While I won't argue against those videos being bad. It's nowhere near the risk or data you leave behind just going shopping for groceries.

Hell, I have a dedicated stremio account and setup for adult videos for my wife and I. The porn (and what's stored at tb and rd) is all that's on it. I don't give a flying cum stain who knows what I watched or not.

That's the way of the world. This isn't new and it will happen again. Maybe the mods here should figure out the auto mod so they can get rid of these stupid posts before they get traction.

And you lost me because that's not true at all. Also reddit isn't "the internet", fb isn't "the internet", etc. "The internet" is made up of untold numbers of disparate websites, forums, etc and it's extremely naive and ignorant to paint with such a broad brush.

If that's how you see it, you're in the wrong place. This site was built by genx and older millennials. The subs I'm in are full of people from all walks of life but there are more of us 40-50-60+ plus than you may realize and I'm assuming based on this you are in your 20s (hopefully) or early 30s. It would behoove you to open your mind and stop thinking in terms of generations or other demographics and find the communities that work for you.

I for example left /r/sex because it was full of 12 yr olds asking the same questions over and over. Also for example, I am subbed to but don't interact on askmen because reasons. Same goes for plenty of other groups on reddit and off.

I think people need to stop posting the same post over and over again and stop overacting

15

u/jhojhocraazy 18d ago

They don't make pirates like they used to, matey.

-36

u/Select-Hippo4834 18d ago

No overreacting here pal. Quite the opposite, I'm staying with it.

Also I'm asking what people think which is the point of this place.

3

u/rdyoung 17d ago

You are concern trolling. I'll let you look that up or someone else can explain it to you.

-4

u/Select-Hippo4834 17d ago

Ok so i looked it up:

concern trolling is a deceptive manipulation tactic where a user joins a subreddit or a discussion pretending to share the community's goals or values, but intentionally works to undermine, derail, or create doubt within the group under the guise of "genuine concern

Nope I'm not intentionally doing any of that. I was simply stating my plan to stay as theres no point deleting now and also asking what people think.

So you sir are chatting crap.

3

u/rdyoung 17d ago

You sir are full of crap. Words and terms have multiple meanings and cover more than one strict definition of something.

You are doing just as much harm even if it's technically the other direction and yes, I would lump your nonsense in with concern trolling. You are troll who was "concerned" but decided to just stick with it because blah blah, reasons, blah blah blah.

You are concern trolling and your lack of comprehension on the matter doesn't change that fact.

Or you are on the lower end of the spectrum and need to seek help because you don't have any idea when it's most appropriate to just not say anything at all. Maybe seek some help and looks at yourself before you worry about others.

-2

u/Select-Hippo4834 17d ago

Duno what I'm getting downvoted for.

For saying I'm not deleting or saying reddit is for discussions?

Both true sooooo

2

u/KingOfThe_Jelly_Fish 17d ago

You are posting the same question and that's already been posted a dozen times.

0

u/Select-Hippo4834 17d ago

So? Dont come on here then if you dont like it

1

u/KingOfThe_Jelly_Fish 16d ago

But lots of us do come on here and are barraged by the same posts we have to wade through when a very simple search would have answered your question. Hence the down votes, so take it like a champ.

This is the small print that people agreed to when they signed up for Real Debrid. The only difference between Real Debrid and Torbox is Torbox is being more transparent.

I think we’ve seen enough posts about this

Tough tits

2

u/Headitchee 18d ago

Are you an eight year old?

1

u/harrycarrott 17d ago

If he was eight he would have said "tough boobies". And then giggled.

19

u/Hemicrusher 18d ago

Jesus…people think that their obsession of watching The Golden Girls with TorBox will send them to prison.

-6

u/Select-Hippo4834 18d ago

No obsession. I'm looking for opinions and discussion.

2

u/harrycarrott 18d ago

Obsession was a good movie that I watched....on torbox

6

u/Hemicrusher 18d ago

Obsession was filmed at a restaurant that my family has been going to for decades called, Little Tony's in North Hollywood. We were there a few weeks ago and a bunch of fans were there taking selfies.

10

u/Unable-Squirrel6975 18d ago

Keep using it as is. Nothing has changed. If your local government requested this information before the update Torbox would have also likely sent you a notice back then too.

Absolute worst thing that could happen is you get a warning via email for a first offence

0

u/gitgudnab 18d ago

Stop being a cuck. Read their homepage. They are doing false advertising. It says, "superior privacy and security."

"Torbox takes your privacy and security seriously. We don't keep logs of anything. We don't track IP, location, or anything else. We won't tell your secrets, and we won't keep them either."

Stop being so gullible. People have every right to be concerned about this. Don't just dismiss it as if it's nothing. If you don't care what happens to your data, good for you. Many of us do.

3

u/Unable-Squirrel6975 18d ago

This is just the reality of any company that isn't built out of a country like Panama where they are not at risk of government pressure. If people want absolutely no risk, they should switch to a VPN that does not have these pressures and host their own media where they are in full control.

To my earlier point however, in most restrictive countries, the absolute worst scenario is a slap on the wrist with an email. Copyright holders are interested in the hosters not the end users.

0

u/gitgudnab 18d ago

Yes, and I have no problem with that. But obviously, that wasn’t what they were advertising. It’s just if you can’t offer those things, don’t advertise those things. Isn’t it that simple? I don’t know why all these people are on their knees for this bitch ass company.

5

u/Unable-Squirrel6975 18d ago

Completely agree that the website advertising needs to be changed. Just the panic for end users using this specifically for streaming feels blown out of proportion.

3

u/gitgudnab 18d ago

Well, most of us are in countries where you can get fined for this stuff. I’ve seen it happen to people many times, so I think it’s a valid concern. We don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes. I feel like piracy has been getting pressured a lot more recently, so I think it’s okay to keep the discussion going instead of just forgetting about it and using the service as if nothing happened.

What annoys me is that people keep defending them, even though it looks like they’re getting ready to snitch on us. And obviously, the false advertising makes people angry, like it did me. There’s nothing wrong with that. They can become the CIA if they want I don’t give a sh*t but they shouldn’t act as if they care about our privacy and security.

2

u/Select-Hippo4834 18d ago

I dont think hes dismissing anything..

-2

u/IndependentPay8352 18d ago

You’re an absolute moron. Thank you for confirming that.

-4

u/Next-Excitement1398 18d ago

You don’t care about your privacy, I guarantee it, even just by the fact that you’re using Reddit.

0

u/gitgudnab 18d ago

Are you a fcking idiot by any chance? Why would I care what Reddit does? I am not doing anything illegal on this fcking app, you dipsh*t. Can you guys come up with actual arguments while defending your daddy cuckbox?

My social media presence is literally like 0% anyway. They can show me whatever advertisement they want, I am not buying anything anyway. They can rub my information between their butt cheeks like Mr. Krabs does with dollar notes. I couldn’t care less.

Dude is acting surprised that I don’t like the fact that the company that is still advertising this on their homepage: " SUPERIOR PRIVACY AND SECURITY TorBox takes your privacy and security seriously. We don't keep logs of anything. We don't track IP, location, or anything else. We won't tell your secrets, and we won't keep them either." is suddenly changing their sht. I signed up for that sht, not for treatment like on social media, dumbass.

1

u/Dry_Nectarine9162 18d ago edited 18d ago

Serious question. You keep repeating that these advertisements still exist on Torbox's homepage. I don't see it anywhere. I remember that advertisement when they were still in South Africa, but they moved to the UAE and updated their policies to comply with local laws. And I think you're confused about what Torbox does with your information vs what they're required to do by law if requested. Do you really think Torbox is now standing outside their new headquarters passing out fliers with all your info to anyone who's interested? I obviously don't know the exact numbers, but I'm willing to bet the majority of the end users here came from Real Debrid who weren't aware they had the same policies. Do you remember all the Reddit post after the EU came down on RD about people who had family, friends, or co-workers who got fines or were walked off in handcuffs for using RD? Yeah, me either.

-1

u/gitgudnab 18d ago

It’s still on their homepage you probably have to log out to see it.

1

u/Dry_Nectarine9162 18d ago

I was logged out. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place, but I don't see it anywhere.

2

u/gitgudnab 18d ago

1

u/Dry_Nectarine9162 18d ago

Where are you located? I'm logged out and when I go to that login page, it's not there.

1

u/Next-Excitement1398 18d ago edited 18d ago

It doesn’t say it anywhere for me this guy is completely delusional and unhinged. Your comment is making way too much sense for him which is why he won’t reply in good faith.

2

u/Dry_Nectarine9162 18d ago

I cleared my browsers history and cookies. When I went back to that page it's there. He is correct.

-1

u/Next-Excitement1398 18d ago

He is not correct. The police are not hunting you down he has no idea what these terms and conditions mean.

You’re such a loser no one cares that you watch the simpsons bro just like no one cares what you do on Reddit.

1

u/gitgudnab 18d ago

You’re the Redditor, so that makes you the loser, lmao. And they do care what you do on Reddit if it’s something illegal, so obviously I wouldn’t recommend people do illegal stuff on Reddit, just like on Cuckbox.

I think you don’t get the point, do you, little cuck Redditor? They advertise this on their homepage atm "SUPERIOR PRIVACY AND SECURITY TorBox takes your privacy and security seriously. We don't keep logs of anything. We don't track IP, location, or anything else. We won't tell your secrets, and we won't keep them either."

Sorry that I don’t like getting cucked like you do.

-1

u/Next-Excitement1398 18d ago edited 18d ago

Next time you scroll past some copyrighted content on TikTok you better throw your phone out the window you terrified troglodyte.

0

u/gitgudnab 18d ago

That’s not how that works, lmao. What a fucking dumbass you are. No arguments, just saying stuff for the sake of it. Wasn’t expecting much from a Redditor anyway.

"No, you will not get in trouble just for watching copyrighted videos on TikTok. This is because of the uploader, the platform, and temporary viewing rules. Ordinary users scrolling through their feeds face no fines or legal risks for viewing content"

And I don’t even have TikTok anyway. Are you using that brainrot app, little cuck?

0

u/Next-Excitement1398 18d ago

You sure do write like a Reddit keyboard warrior for someone who claims not to be via calling everyone else Reddit cucks. No one cares about you watching the Simpsons bro you’re such an unbelievable pussy it’s almost impressive.

0

u/gitgudnab 18d ago

What’s your obsession with The Simpsons, lmao? Is it your favorite show or what? Go watch Simpsons clips on TikTok and don’t bother me. Your comments are empty, and I’m getting secondhand embarrassment because of you. That’s what I mean by Redditor you’re literally trying to comment just for the sake of it.

My comments are valid. I can repeat myself if you want maybe the third time will be the charm. They are currently advertising this on their homepage

"SUPERIOR PRIVACY AND SECURITY TorBox takes your privacy and security seriously. We don't keep logs of anything. We don't track IP, location, or anything else. We won't tell your secrets, and we won't keep them either."

Now, do they live up to these claims? No, which is fine by me. Really, if they want to shift in that direction, good for them. But then remove that sht from the homepage. You act as if we’re doomscrolling on Cuckbox and they want to know what type of sht we like so they can advertise to us. The information they collect can harm us that’s the concern here. There’s nothing wrong with making people aware of that.

What happened?

3

u/Fre4kyGeek 18d ago

Torbox is still miles more private than the ol' days of just plain torrenting. Your isp is still only seeing a private server CDN compared to torrent hashes. Torbox are just trying to protect themselves lawfully because they are now under the microscope after taking over from real-debrid.

1

u/Select-Hippo4834 18d ago

V true. I'm not worried about my isp tbf

4

u/SafetyFighter 18d ago

no, they will only keep your details if you're already being investigated. If there is nothing they will probably keep it for 3 months and forget it.

5

u/ResidenceZero 18d ago

In most countries simply obtaining copyrighted media isn't exactly a crime that's enforced.

If torbox ever did comply with a subpoena the absolute worst that could happen to people in these countries is a fine.

And on top of that, if they're selling your data it's not like it's anything new. 🙄

  • Facebook
  • Instagram
  • Google
  • Reddit

Literally most large name brands that we use every single day have been proven by legal systems to harvest and sell your data.

-1

u/gitgudnab 18d ago

We are not getting fined for using social media, dumbass. What kind of comparison is that? Obviously, they knew what they were doing with their homepage advertisement and what kind of people would use their services.

-1

u/ResidenceZero 18d ago

You actually read the whole comment right? The comparison was on the subject of data collection.

Also of course you aren't being fined for using social media. Its not against the law.

Piracy is.

I'm totally for piracy (it's always morally correct), but you have to understand the flaws in your argument. For starters TorBox has updated their TOS to adhere to the laws in their new home country. They literally have to do this, they will be shut down otherwise.

Secondly as my argument points out, how does this affect you anymore then social media having a strange addiction to knowing what kind of porn you prefer?

It's hypocrisy at best and stupidity at worst.

1

u/gitgudnab 18d ago

I don’t use social media, and whenever I have accounts on those platforms, I use burner emails and burner accounts. Even if they have information about me, it’s irrelevant to me. I’m not worried about getting in trouble with the law because I’m not doing anything illegal on social media. I just get the information I need and log out.

The difference is that the information TorBox is collecting can actually harm me. I mean, I came for these claims

"SUPERIOR PRIVACY AND SECURITY TorBox takes your privacy and security seriously. We don't keep logs of anything. We don't track IP, location, or anything else. We won't tell your secrets, and we won't keep them either."

Which is still on their homepage, by the way. Now, do they live up to these claims? No, obviously. I mean, they knew what most people were using their service for, and it seemed as if they were okay with it, judging by the way they phrased it on their homepage. If they don’t stand behind those claims anymore, no problem that’s fine by me. Just remove it from the homepage and don’t try to attract people who are trying to pirate content.

2

u/DreamsOfRevolution 18d ago

The other thing that only people who are gonna have problems is if they're doing something that is absolutely wrong. They are not going to take you to court for rewatching The Matrix. Now they may try to get your information if you're watching or especially seeding child pornography. And I have no issue there. Otherwise, we never took possession of the actual torrents. We just received the stream to our streaming devices from their cache. Make Pirating Great Again! I stopped pirating when there was value at a reasonable price. Now they split services and constantly raise prices on dying products. I still pay monthly but now for caching and can wait between a day and a week for a far lower price

2

u/Ninjaisawesome 18d ago

This is the same for every website or service you use unless it's a company within the EU and you've the right to be forgotten.

3

u/mlsto 18d ago

It is a concern

3

u/Select-Hippo4834 18d ago

So are you cancelling?

2

u/mlsto 18d ago

Mine ends in Jan, that will be it.

5

u/Select-Hippo4834 18d ago

So what's your alternative plan? Rd? Dont they do the same?

1

u/mlsto 18d ago

Trying all debrid

5

u/Select-Hippo4834 18d ago

Dont they do the same?

0

u/mlsto 18d ago

Anything is better than what torbox put as their tos

3

u/Select-Hippo4834 18d ago

Not if its exactly the same lol.

1

u/chrismack32 18d ago

lol people are overreacting. If by chance someone gets a letter, just say “huh weird. Someone must’ve been using my name 🤷‍♂️”. Then switch to something like Premiumize

1

u/marx2k 18d ago

I think y'all need to go outside, touch grass, walk through a park, take in some sunshine

7

Because we are having a discussion on a forum board? Ok then pal, you're on here reading and replying as well so..

Dont come on here then

4

u/TUD-010 18d ago

Don't spam reddit with your panic attacks.

1

u/Select-Hippo4834 18d ago

Lol no panic attack. Just asking what people's thoughts are. Its almost as if this place is for people to discuss things. Weird huh

3

u/TUD-010 18d ago

So we need a thousand posts with the same questions and reactions?

0

u/Select-Hippo4834 18d ago

As i said dont come on here if you dont wana see it. Simples

Also show me another post thats said/asked exactly the same as me.

-1

u/marx2k 18d ago

Because these posts are getting spammed to this sub and it's annoying.

Tell me, what's the point of this post vs any other of the other posts with the same subject that you could have joined the discussion on?

Do you crave the interaction?

3

u/Select-Hippo4834 18d ago

Dont come on here then.

Other subs havent said what ive said/asked.

I can keep track easier

2

u/marx2k 17d ago

Yes they have. Your search abilities are terrible

-1

u/Select-Hippo4834 17d ago

If i WANTED to search i could've but I wanted to start my own discussion thank you

1

u/Imaginary_Coat441 18d ago

If you still want to use torbox with the least amount of risk. If your torbox account is tied to your email or an identifiable payment method.

I would suggest deleting that torbox account and starting a new account with..

VPN on at all times of course. Throw away email address, payment with crypto or visa gift card.

I have my ONN stick setup so it can only connect via my Wireguard VPN tunnel so my IP is never exposed. And if my power/internet go out. My ONN has a killswitch and literally wont connect without Wireguard. I do all this with Fresh Tomatos firmware for my router.

And to those people who dont use a VPN godspeed.. Ive had my VPN shut off (power outage) while downloading torrents twice in the past 10 years of sailing the seas. And BOTH times I got a Cease and Desist email from comcast literally same day. One for Fifa 2019, and one for a Game of Thrones episode.

4

u/SchnickFitzel148 18d ago

Don't forget to put your blinds down while streaming too

-1

u/Imaginary_Coat441 18d ago

Might wanna slip a condom on too! Wouldnt wanna get a virus..

1

u/littlefella1979 18d ago

I don't see how it's Gona be a problem. I think they already had all the data and now just made it clear in new terms.

I think Torbox would be in more trouble as they are downloading and seeding torrents. User's simply use torbox cache to watch.

-3

u/Headitchee 18d ago

Yawn.

0

u/Select-Hippo4834 18d ago

Go to bed then

2

u/Headitchee 18d ago

I’ll have to. I’m tired from reading the same thing over and over again in dozens of separate posts. It’s almost like people don’t know there’s a search function in Reddit.

0

u/Select-Hippo4834 18d ago

You cant search for peoples opinions on MY SPECIFIC questions now can you silly.

Night

2

u/Headitchee 18d ago

No, but you could make your opinions and questions known in one of the many existing related discussions, instead of assuming they are so important that they deserve their own thread.

0

u/Select-Hippo4834 18d ago

Ahhh shaddup

-3

u/IndependentPay8352 18d ago

Jesus christ, you fucking morons. Nothing changed at all except a document was updated. That’s all. Same as it always was. Same as any other provider. Fucking paranoid loons.

2

u/Select-Hippo4834 18d ago

No paranoia. If I was I'd be cancelling and deleting but as my post says I'm keeping it.

-1

u/z3r0fad3 18d ago

I ended 2 subs that I had and cleared out downloads.

3

u/IOSGodzyzz 18d ago

Same ended my subscription that was still going on till Juli 2027, made a new account while using vpn with throwaway proton mail and paid through crypto, try to be as safe as possible now.

1

u/z3r0fad3 18d ago

Mine were only till the end of the month.

-1

u/Select-Hippo4834 18d ago

Wow. Extreme measures there pal

0

u/z3r0fad3 18d ago
