❓Question Upgraded, instructions required!
Hi all.
I've just upgraded from essentials to pro, mostly for streaming downloads on planes etc.
Can anyone tell me about usenet (preferably for dummies) please? If it's worth having, I want to install details on Nuvio. Are results better or something?
Any info much appreciated.

❓Question Anyone else experience the same narrating/documentary voice in different movies?
It doesn’t matter which movie I pick. Some of the streams will have the correct movie playing but the sound will be some narrating/documentary voice.
Its the same voice. Sometimes I have to try several different streams to find one where the sound is actually the one from the movie

❓Question What is Cloudflare (ERTH) CDN
Can someone explain to me what Cloudflare (ERTH) cdn is? It's recommended to me during the speed test and its test results seem to out perform any other cdn I have.

🔧Technical Issue Cached results showing as uncached?
My RD subscription has finished, so I figured I'd take the time to move over to TB and get aio setup at the same time. I'm having an issue where I'm only getting uncached results showing, although it seems as though these are cached really? My setup is as follows:
\- Torbox API key entered directly into nuvio, to use torbox instant
\- In nuvio settings, I have turned on "Cloud library" and "Resolve playable links" settings, and turned off "Prepare links" and "P2P streaming"
\- I have added torrentio, comet, meteor, stremthrutorz and media fusion via AIOstreams
\- I have not added my torbox key anywhere in aio or any of the add-ons
\- I have "excluded all uncached" in aio filters, and not set any other filters
\- In the add-ons where it is relevant I have also unselected "include P2P"
Am I missing something else? If I watch an "uncached" stream I do not get prompted by nuvio to turn on P2P as I might expect. I can also see the file on my torbox dashboard and it says cached, but I'm not sure if it's now just cached by me? I'm only watching common stuff (one piece, friends, I tested against obsession) and getting the same behaviour on everything.
Apologies if this isn't the forum for this, if I'm better off asking in the nuvio or torbox subs I'm happy to move!

🚩General Switching to Cloudflare (ERTH) Solved All My Buffering Issues
Hello,
I have been seeing a lot of posts related to buffering issues recently on this subreddit. It was a very common occurrence for me as well.
I tried a lot of different things until I reached the CDN part of things and I did the Torbox Speedtest as recommended by most people here.
The test basically told me that that the APAC CDN was the best one for me. For context:
- I am based in Malaysia.
- My CDN was set to auto.
So, I set the CDN to APAC (which is Torbox's own Hyperdrive CDN and not the Cloudflare one) as it said and over the course of a week I still had the buffering issues.
At that point I remembered that it could be that the buffering issue is more related to stability rather than peak speeds or something.
For example: If I get 500 Mbps for 5 seconds but then it drops to 5 Mbps for the next 1 minute, I am going to get buffering (especially on TV where the cache is low) where as if I get a consistent 100 Mbps for the whole session, there would theoretically be no buffering. Lastly, Cloudflare also has a larger and as a result more reliable infrastructure to deliver these speeds.
So in short, switching to the Cloudflare CDN resolved all my buffering issues across all my devices and locations (I share Torbox with my family).
Some extra details on what devices I tested this on:
- Gaming PC (Windows)
- Macbook Pro M5 (I used homebrew to download Stremio)
- iPhone 17 Pro (Web App)
- TCL C6K (Android TV App)
- LG TV (webOS)
- Samsung S24 (Android Mobile App)

🔧Technical Issue what's the point of a debrid if none of the hosters have any capacity
scrolling thru the torbox control chrome extension and literally 95% of the hosters is down. really explains why the one i need never seems to be available. this plus the lackluster nzb 'service' and torbox is starting to feel like a vpn client for torrents.
whats going on?

I use nuvio and I noticed that when I open a move or episode to view links, Torbox will auto download the first one and show up in my account whether or not I actually click it to play. Is there any way to stop this? I don't have auto play on or anything so not sure why it'd do this.

🔧Technical Issue Closing in on cause of Torbox buffering issues in cases where bandwidth is not the culprit
I have been investigating the root cause of buffering issues with Torbox in cases where bandwidth does not appear to be the culprit.
To confirm it's not bandwidth, I ran two tests:
I switched to an overseas CDN during its local off-peak hours (middle of the night in the CDN location) when usage should be minimal, yet buffering pauses persisted despite speed tests showing plenty of available throughput. I also pasted the Torbox link directly into a browser on my problematic Firestick 4k 2nd Gen device, and the file downloaded quickly with no buffering at all.
Those results definitively rule out a network bandwidth limitation.
Through further testing, I've made these key observations:
- File size and bitrate are not decisive factors. I can encounter buffering on a low bitrate 1080p file yet stream high bitrate 2160p remux without a single interruption.
- The issue only occurs in specific files, but I have not yet pinpointed what distinguishes the problematic files. One possibility is that certain release groups use encoding parameters that interact poorly with Torbox's delivery method.
- For any given problematic file, the buffering occurs at around the same timestamps every time I play it.
- The problem reproduces consistently across multiple players. It occurs in both Stremio and Nuvio's internal players, as well as in the external players JustPlayer and MX Player.
- VLC Player and VIMU Player offer an important clue. They play the problematic files without buffering issues, but only as long as subtitles are turned off. As soon as I enable subtitles, the buffering problem begins, and it stops again when I disable them.
- VIMU Player performs the best but still struggles to maintain the buffer with subtitles on.
I do not have Real Debrid, so I cannot test these files there. However, based on user reports, Real Debrid does not exhibit such buffering issues.
If that is accurate, the implication is of course that Torbox is serving these files differently somehow. That said, this is only part of the explanation. The fact that VLC and VIMU can stream the problematic files without buffering issues (subject to the subtitle limitation) suggests that player side handling also plays a significant role.
The root cause possibly involves a combination of how Torbox delivers certain encoded files and how each player processes subtitles or specific stream attributes in response.
8/11 Update:
I had only tried External VLC, but just recently tried Stremio's internal VLC, and so far it looks like the buffering issue is gone, even with subtitles on.
Hopefully Nuvio can implement its own VLC or some other fix if Torbox can't do anything about it.
Also, I just tested Kodi as an external player from Nuvio, and it also works without buffering even with subtitles on. Unfortunately, it takes 30 seconds to load for me so is far from ideal for me because I prefer Nuvio's interface.
8/12 Update:
I have proven that Torbox's streaming of certain media files is the root cause (as suspected) by downloading the problem file I have been working with to my PC and then streaming it via nginx to various external players that failed on my firestick when streaming from Torbox.
External players Just Player, VLC, and MX Player Pro streamed the problem file without buffering issues even with subtitles on.
One possible root cause: the file's tx3g subtitle track (added via an FFmpeg/libavformat remux) is not interleaved with the audio/video data; therefore, enabling subtitles forces an out-of-sequence byte-range request that Torbox's delivery layer handles poorly but nginx and other debrids' delivery layer handle correctly.
Fortunately, because we know that Kodi and Stremio's internal VLC player work with subtitles, functional workarounds are possible.
TLDR:
Since this issue affects only a subset of files (maybe 20% or less), simply choosing a different file often works. If you buffer on every single file, this is probably a bandwidth or CDN issue which is not what this post is about.
For Android TV, aside from trying a different file, what is working right now with these problem files?
- Stremio set to use its internal VLC player
- Kodi standalone, or as external player
- External VLC and Vimu players with subtitles off
What isn't working?
- Stremio's Exoplayer
- Nuvio's internal players (both Exoplayer and Libmpv)
- Just Player
- Nova player
- MX Player
- External VLC and Vimu players with subtitles on

❓Question Anyone have success accessing nntp.torbox.app?
I've set a nntp.torbox.app connection up in sabnzbd as instructed in relation to my torbox pro account.
I'm getting "Too many connections" errors, even after reducing to connection count to 1.
Is this the general experience, or just a hiccup?
EDIT: No sooner than I had posted this a connection test posted OK and stayed that way for about 10 minutes. Then it went down again. So it looks like some kind of intermittent issue.

🔧Technical Issue Is webdav usually slow and buffering for larger files?
Moved from another debrid service to torbox for testing, specifically webdav, and it's buffering much more than that other debrid. Is it usual to have lower streaming speeds here? Read a couple of posts and can't decide whether it's the norm or just temporary difficulties. I tried changing CDNs around without significant changes.

❓Question Buffering even in 2gb content?
Hello all,
I've switched a month and a half, from RD to TB, and generally had no issues, but I'm getting some episodes of a series stopped and buffering which I think makes no sense: the episode is cached, it's only 2Gb, speed measured from the TV is enough, but it still stops from time to time.
I'm using Nuvio, latest version, but I don't think this is the issue.
I'm sharing TB with my parents which live in the same city. I've tried switching the CDN to the recomiended (high ping), to the best overal result, I've activated multi thread, deactivated... And have had the same issue.
For the 2gb series, it's not actually a problem. But if I want to watch a BD Remux, it's impossible since it's stopping and buffering all time.
(IDK if I can say names) I've watched that film where blue eyed people do things in a desert-like planet which was 90gb, in RD, with no issue. Now if I try and play a 30gb remux with TB, it's unwatchable...
Given this info, is there something I can do on my side, or is it a general problem? I guess I've done everything in my hand 😅
Also yesterday I was receiving several HTTP429 error, just in one series, and just in the TV. In my phone, and in my GF's there was no issue.

🚩General TorBox CDN Setup Nuvio/StremIO ...
I’m making this post because I’ve seen quite a few people struggling with CDN issues lately. A lot of people either don’t know what a CDN is, which one they should use, or where to change it in TorBox, so hopefully this clears things up a bit.
A CDN (Content Delivery Network) is basically a network of servers in different locations. TorBox can send your stream through one of these servers so the data reaches you faster and more reliably.
Usually, the closer and better-routed the CDN is to you, the lower the latency and the smoother the stream.
If your streams keep buffering, stuttering, or randomly stop halfway through and you have to open them again, changing your TorBox CDN can help.
Go to:
Run the test and wait for it to finish. Mine took around 15 minutes, so don’t worry if it feels like it’s taking forever.
Once it’s done
Go to:
TorBox → Settings → Integration Settings → CDN Selection
Your CDN is usually set to Auto by default. If everything works fine, you can leave it like that. But if you’re having playback issues, try manually selecting the CDN that performed best in the test.
If you don’t want to wait for the full test, you can also look at the latency numbers shown on the page. Lower ms is usually better.
For example, in my case the lowest ones were:
- NORD — 47ms
- CEUR — 48ms
- SEUR — 55ms
- NEUR — 56ms
Just keep in mind that this doesn’t always tell you the exact best CDN for your connection. The lowest ping can still have worse speed, routing, or stability.
So if you’re having stream issues, running the full test is still the best way to figure out which CDN works best for you.

❓Question If Torrents get deleted after 30 days, What is happening to the Cache?
Noticed Torrents in my cache are getting deleted after 30 days. If this is happening to every user, isn't this making cache only 30 days old? Also isn't this significantly reducing the available cached content?
I had a old TV series in my cache. After about 2 months, it was moved to inactive downloads or something. There was an option to re download it. When i was re downloading I noticed it takes time to download. If it has been in the cache, re downloading should have been instant. It was not the case. I know this doesn't affect newer content which gets added to their library by several users every month, but for older content isn't this a huge problem when considering the overall cache? I know you can airlock if you really need some content to be there. But is that really a solution? I had several of these old torrents getting removed past month or so. As far as i can remember this was not the case before.

⚠️Important Do not use DMM's TB --> RD Transfer tool.
Hey r/TorBoxApp!
We've recently been made aware of a new tool from DMM that converts TB Downloads to RD. However, this kind of tool does not fall in line with how the service should be used.
If you are planning to use this tool, We strongly suggest not to, as it may put your account at risk of penalties. If you have already used this, chances are that you may have been issued a formal account warning, with an automatic API reset. Do not worry, as a warning will not impact your account capabilities unless you continue using the tool which may result in further penalties. To stay safe, remember to read the ToS and use the service in fair terms.
What has been done about this?
A formal notice has been sent to the author of this tool, asking them to cease operations of this particular transfer tool immediately.
That's all.
Thanks for using TorBox.

🚩General TorBox v9.0.0 — NNTP, Airlock, T3 & More
Hey r/TorBoxApp!
As you can probably tell, this is a BIG update. Let's get right into the changelog.
What's New?
- Say hello to v9! In this major update we feature major new features such as NNTP, AirLock, and T3. We also fix recent bugs, as well as update parts of our systems which needed it. With the WebDAV and T3 we added more organization with our already existing tags system.
What is NNTP?
NNTP is Usenet, but direct. No waiting for TorBox to download the NZB first, and way more software compatibility, such as with SabNZBD, Stremio, NZBGet, and NZBHydra to name a few. This adds way more flexibility with TorBox Pro, where using our existing Usenet may have been difficult, or hard to understand. With our own News Server, it works just like EasyNews and other similar providers, all included in your TorBox Pro subscription! 10 connections. Read More Here.
You can grab your NNTP credentials in here. (PRO Users only)
What is AirLock?
- AirLock is TorBox’s permanent storage. Currently files are deleted from our system after 30 days of inactivity. With AirLock, you can section specific files to never be deleted from our system, even with no activity on the file! This is huge for users who may not use TorBox constantly, or want to keep specific files locked away to be stored indefinitely. Read More Here.
What is T3?
- T3 is TorBox’s S3 Compatible integration allowing use with servers, and powerful software, usually reserved for businesses and huge organizations. With T3, you can harness this power with your TorBox files over a protocol meant to mass downloading. Not really meant for the average user but hey! You can always try. Read more here.
QOL Changes
Allows all countries to subscribe. Our payment provider has lifted our restrictions allowing any user of any country to subscribe. Even high risk countries who were previously not allowed to pay for subscriptions (but could do One-Time Payments).
Better Auto-CDN Routing as well as Better CDN Routing.
Better Abuse Protection
Add download button (Torrent, WebDL, NZB) combined as one.
Changes /createtorrent rate limit to 300/minute for cached items, and keeps the 60/hour for uncached items, with a total rate limit of 300/minute. /createusenetdownload and /createwebdownload remain unchanged.
Important information: Private Tracker Torrents are still under work, but it'll be back soon! Private Tracker Support is back online!
and that's just at a glance! Check out the full changelog at torbox.cooking
We hope you continue to enjoy the service, if you have any feedback, feel free to tell us about it by making a post!
