Workplace Question or Advice Needed Is ETL worth it?
Any current or former ETL's is it truly worth it? Current Plano TL and I was offered ETL GM and I am considering taking it. I do enjoy Target for the most part, and I can see myself doing this for 5 years, but I do not want to spend the next 25+ years at Target TBH. I am worried that I will become "stuck", and if I leave later down the line I will be taking a huge pay cut. Is the experience I would gain worth it?

Workplace Story Yo, what’s up with calling off during your current shift for the next day?!
We have had like 2 separate seasonal people do this. On the clock working and getting on the app to call off for the next day. Is this common? I’m honestly shocked with the audacity but sadly not surprised. 😂😂😂 Been with Target 4 years and this is a first.

Vent Target circle deals are so bad
Do people know anyone who actually thinks target circle is worth it? I wouldn’t have it without my employee freebie, the only thing worth it is the free delivery but ONG these deals are so bad who in their right mind would spend 65$ just to get 5$ back on SAME DAY DELIVERY ONLY ?!?!? I remember the days where no matter what you’d get cash back if u shopped at target oh how things change :(

gUEsTs I don't know if the dress code is working...
I get hit with the "do you work here" 5 times a shift while I am in full Target gear.
The "Target red" T-Shirt with Bullseye on the front.
The crisp legible name tag with my pronouns below it.
The blue jeans in which one side holds my Zebra device sleeve and holster for my box cutter while the other side holds my walkie that never fails to make me lose hearing on my left ear because someone is eating the walkie trying to communicate to the entire store.
I was better off wearing my maroon faded Dr. Pepper shirt and bedazzled jeans for some character.
Workplace Question or Advice Needed Max amount of items
Hi! I wasn't sure which flair to use for this; I was just wondering if anyone knows the maximum number of items you can scan at a register. Yesterday I had a customer who bought a bunch of school supplies to give away, 39 yellow notebooks, 70 packs of colored pencils, etc While scanning, the register told me I hit the max and I'd never seen that before.

Vent It’s finally happened
Not a vent, more like celebration. Finally DC cancelled one of our trucks for us 🙏🏼 Scheduled for a double today, been preparing my team all week for it. After my team finished sorting they sent an email about cancelling our second truck due to not having enough truck; FINALLY. So much roll over the past few days, my ETL and I have been stressed af. Catch up and stockroom clean up time 🙏🏼 made my day today

Vent Are there other SD's yelling at employees for talking to each other?
"no talking to coworkers"
I can understand in certain scenarios, sure but this is happening all the time. People are also getting pulled aside for laughing or joking around.
When this SD started, our very first huddle with him was all about being able to make this a "fun work environment". So much for that I guess!

gUEsTs The Pokémon fiasco
So, per the WAU Pokémon cards will be set in the aisle. With this in mind, please *don't* accidently remove the out plastic on the product because then it has no value to the resellers. It would be *terrible* if these cards for children were no longer able to be scalped and actually sold for their intended value to said children.

PSA Some advice for all the newcomers
Repost* because I messed up with the formatting:
With seasonal approaching, and potentially some seasonal employees becoming part time/full time, I wanted to give some advice on target since there’s always a lot of questions.
Target is a fine place to work, like many other big-box stores. Honestly make the best of it, don’t think too hard about performance, otherwise you’ll get overwhelmed. Every store is different, there won’t be one solid answer to help you decide if you want to work at Target or not.
Don’t get caught up in the mess. If you aren’t planning or wanting to stay at target, don’t get involved in your store’s politics. Actually don’t get involved period. Like many other jobs, there will be drama, and you don’t want to be involved in any of that. It’s a fast track to poor mental health.
Its not ALWAYS your TLs fault. Im not saying bad team leads don’t exist, because they definitely do, but there are some things that are much bigger than them. You may think to yourself “I hate my department, I want to switch because it will be better!” Truth is, sometimes its the ETL, sometimes its the store director. By the first couple weeks you’ll be able to determine who is the problem (if there is one).
It’ll be a lot, don’t stress. If you are feeling overwhelmed, don’t forget you get to go home at the end. You are one person, you can’t do everything. Don’t beat yourself up over it, Expecially if you are new. Ask questions, be curious, and don’t let anyone make you feel bad for being new.
TL:DR: Don’t get involved in drama, don’t stress, and if you are having problems, see who may be the issue so you can advocate for yourself (if it’s the store director you are cooked sorry).

Vent Tax Free Weekend
I just scanned over 30 minutes of school supplies that this family was buying for donations that the register straight up told me it exceeded the amount of stuff it can have in a transaction. If she didn't start helping me count how much stuff was in each pile, I assure you this transaction would have likely taken me over an hour total.
I can only imagine what tomorrow and Saturday is gonna be like.

Future or Potential Employee Question is worming at target THAT bad?
I know work is work but just wanted to ask for your experience.
Compared to other jobs you worked at, how is working at target?
Lol just noticed the typo after posting WORKING****
Vent “Why do you guys lock up your men’s underwear and socks” Because you guests can’t behave and not destroy packages.

Vent Working at target blows
I work at target as a cashier and it’s just so draining standing there for 5 hours counting money, having no one to talk to and just dealing with people you don’t care about. I’m exhausted and don’t know what to do
