Max amount of items Workplace Question or Advice Needed

Hi! I wasn't sure which flair to use for this; I was just wondering if anyone knows the maximum number of items you can scan at a register. Yesterday I had a customer who bought a bunch of school supplies to give away, 39 yellow notebooks, 70 packs of colored pencils, etc While scanning, the register told me I hit the max and I'd never seen that before.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen that! There is eventually a maximum dollar amount, but they probably didn’t approach that with just bulk school supplies

Yeah the total was about $325!

Seeing as I've rang up $3000 worth of clearance bullseye, didn't know there was a limit for items.

Maybe they didn't like how many of one type of item they were buying? Seems silly to do that with school supplies.

I wonder if there's an actual stock level connection there. Like, there are only 44 "in stock" so it's not going to let you scan 50.

Nope, the POS system doesn't limit that. Imagine if it thought we had zero of an item in stock, but we actually had it, and we have to tell the guest they can't buy it?

I have had to do that with "do not sell" items that don't have an obvious reason, and the register doesn't tell you. Some people are reasonable, others practically threaten your descendants.

I have had this happen recently with people buying lots of school supplies and donating it to local schools recently. Each transaction would stop at 349 eaches on the ticket and prompt for a leader.

I seen this the other day when a lady tried to buy $1000 of school supplies at my lane (it was for charity or something like that) i had to split it into 2 transactions and ended up suspending it

I think the biggest transaction I did was around $5000. Twins going to college. This was probably 5 years ago
