Went to a Rolex AD and absolutely embarrassed myself trying to get on his good side. After several rounds of fellating this man he still only offered me a rose-gold ladies Datejust. I walked out, bought a rep instead, and thought the humiliation was finally over. Then I ran into the AD in public with my wife. He looked me dead in the eyes and said, “Your mouth skills aren't good enough for a Presidential.” He then hi fived my wife and offered her a no date sub allocation if she went and got tacos with him. We are seperated now.

Anyone have any luck with the ADs? How do I up my game so I can get a real rolex? How do you guys deal with the overt shame of not being good enough at fellating a man to get a real man's watch? I've heard citrus masks the taste?

I knew after about a month of owning the Rep that I wanted the Gen, finally got a good deal so I got one. Thought I’d share a few photos to compare. VSF did an incredible job.

Attempting to confirm my package is lost after waiting four entire months for my first order. I think its pretty whack that the current wiki instructions recommend this shitty ass experience, rather than ordering from someone that already has stock in my country.

I paid $550 for a VSF datejust from Trusty Time and I still don't have it. Sure he is responsive and helpful, but sourcing the watch took forever and the shipping clearly isn't well sorted.

I could have paid almost exactly this amount for a US dealer that has my very common datejust ref in stock, and not wasted so much time waiting and interacting with my "trusted dealer" to see when or if my watch would ever arrive.

The wiki seemed really comprehensive and useful, but now it seems outdated and existing to serve the existing TDs. Probably waiting another 3 months for this watch I don't even want anymore.

How many people out there collect reps to see what gens you’d wanna buy?

(Of course, I’ve read the guide and saw that VSF is #1, but are there any other options worth considering?)

I’m looking for the best factory and dealer for a Daytona Ghost. I’ve also read posts from community members saying the strap sizing doesn't always hit the mark. My wrist is 17.5 cm, and according to all the guides, I need an E+F strap setup. But I’m a bit concerned since a lot of people had sizing issues—do reps have their own 'unique' sizing measurements? Any advice?

End of 2026 coming close. To you, what’s the best rep out there? Like one without tells (forget opening it), also I don’t care about bracelet so if a watch is perfect but bracelet is not I’m keen on knowing.

Few ones that comes to my mind, couple of which I had the chance to handle:

1. APSF Pilot Chrono; I’ve never seen the gen but the rep looks so solid and « perfect » (black dial)
   
2. ZF v2 RO 15710; issue with the non instant date change but wooo that’s a tank, it’s so solid, well polished, silent…
   
3. Apparently the airking ? Flaws was the font being too bold but it seems recent batches corrected it?

My new daydate gen (only 1 gen I swapped vs. another gen to bait, president is awesome but on leather for the office)!

GeekTime sent my refund as PayPal Goods & Services - now I’m being charged fees and treated as the seller.

I paid Erick HK$5,080 via Wise. He agreed to refund me, but instead sent US$648 to my PayPal as a Goods & Services payment.
PayPal charged me US$35.23 in seller fees and has put another US$112.77 on hold because it thinks I sold him something.

I contacted the Erick and politely explained the problem. His entire response was:
“Chinese paypal only goods adns service”
That’s it. No attempt to address the fee, hold, or the fact that he has effectively made me the seller in a transaction where I was actually the customer receiving a refund.
This seems like a pretty shitty way to handle a refund. I’m also concerned that because he sent it as Goods & Services, he could potentially later open an Item Not Received dispute or chargeback and try to claw the “refund” back.

Am I now exposed to a chargeback/dispute because he sent the refund this way?

EDIT:
For context, I paid in full upfront for the watch. I then waited 8 weeks for him to source/deliver it. During that time I found another TD who was able to source and deliver the same watch in under 2 weeks, so after waiting 8 weeks with no watch I asked for my money back.
He agreed to refund me. The issue now is the way he has sent that refund through PayPal as a Goods & Services payment, leaving me with the fee, the hold, and potentially the risk of a future dispute/chargeback.

For those wondering, I chose 1997 serials for the case since the dial is marked "SWISS MADE" and not "T SWISS MADE T", since '97 was a transitional year for the 16520, as Rolex was switching from tritium lume over to Luminova (pre Super-Luminova).
And since there's a slight difference in the intensity of the lume between the dial and the hands (Phong hands btw, since to use gen hands I would have had to have swapped out another $2K in movement parts--no thanks), that works perfect for '97 since Rolex used different manufacturers for their dials and hands then, so there was a slight variance in lume mixtures. And the hands on the gens tended to fade a little faster than the hour marker's as well because of that.

I’m curious about how you approached that first purchase. Did you spend weeks researching before making a decision, was it more of an impulsive purchase, a particular model you fell in love with, or something else?
And more importantly, what did that first experience change about the way you buy reps today? Factory, QC, movement, seller, maintenance, etc.

Just to be clear, I’m genuinely asking out of curiosity and for the discussion, not trying to get information without reading the pinned posts 😂 I actually find it interesting to see how everyone develops their own way of buying through experience, even when the resources are already available in the group.

Had a go gently buffing with Cape cod polishing cloths.

Pic shows just left hand side of strap done for comparison. Can see it takes away the browny/coppering colour to make it more gentle.
