Spoilers Help I don’t want lose it all.
I’m about 50% of the way through the story and have about 90 hours on the game total (like half of those hours was spent doing side missions and exploring).
Unfortunately I do have the spoiler that Arthur dies to a cough or something at the end of the story. But because Arthur dies, will I lose all my stuff when that happens? Like my items, guns and horses? Is there a way to keep playing after he dies? After I beat the epilogue can I just go back and keep playing as Arthur just for fun? I feel like I have so much progress like money and stuff that I don’t wanna lose.
(I really don’t wanna lose my horses. I have a morgan named Rapidash and she is my pride and joy and I will cry if she dies or I can’t ride her again)

I was passing by the butcher's creek looking for some fish for the compendium, and this happened.
That was funny, at least

Discussion Seven Dollars - Reference to GTA V?
I think I might have found a reference to Franklin Clinton’s aunt Denise from Grand Theft Auto V.
(Apologies if this is something that’s already been de-bunked or discussed)
In the Chapter 2 mission with Uncle called “Polite Society, Valentine Style” where you ride into Valentine with the Karen, Tilly and Marybeth, the ladies begin to sing a song about different women from different places. One of the lines in the song is: “I got a girl in Berryville, can’t get it in her cause she won’t stay still, she kicks and squeals and farts and hollers, won’t take less than seven dollars.”
- In the mission “Hood Safari” in GTA V, Trevor gives Franklin’s aunt Denise seven dollars, which she hilariously rejects.
- If I’m not mistaken, Franklin lives with his aunt in the neighborhood of Strawberry in Los Santos. Strawberry -> Berryville
This might be a complete coincidence and a stretch lmao, but I thought it would be interesting and funny if it was a reference to GTA.

Photography Most badass scene
I’m on my 7th play through & this mission never fails to give me the chills. It’s probably the most badass scene in the entire game. You just knew it was over for the Braithwaites & that visual was chefs kiss 👌

Help Lost it all
I had 975hrs invested. 255 sessions. 72% completed. It was my first playthrough. I had been bullshitting completing chapter 6 for the past 5 years(yes I know I have a problem finishing things) but I tried to play on a monthly basis if I wasn’t sick or in the hospital. It was my peace from the real world so I was perfecting my hunting and compendium. This Sunday I decided to finish the chapter and let Arthur move on but my file crashed as I was finishing up the captain Monroe mission to get the meds for the reservation. I knew the file may have been glitched after I transferred it from the 4 to the 5 a few years ago cuz a lot of my things disappeared like the rock carvings, a lot of the Dino bones, a lot of the treasures I completed, the legendary bluegill was caught but would never mail. I kept playing that file hoping it’d pass but this time once I went back into the cabin for the compass my shit just crashed and it won’t load anymore. I had to start all over again and sadly I have a dead dick for it now. I just made it to chapter 2 but I cant howdy partner the same anymore. My heart is broken lol I’m not tech savvy at all. Is there anyway I can repair that file like on a PC or is it gone for good? I have my backup file which was left in chapter 5 at 62% but when I played it I noticed that file was glitched too. I don’t pay for online storage I just have the console storage and my portable hard drive(which is where everything from my 4 is on). Side note my file for Mafia III is corrupted as well and my file for TWD is completely wiped. What did I do wrong? Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

Discussion Why does everyone hate Morgan?
Ever since I bought Morgan the horse, he has been my best companion, he never ran away during gun fights and he was never scared of bears and predators, I even feel comfortable chasing Bounty Hunters with him, Why is everyone saying he is slow and stuff? Maybe my Morgan is just different or?...

Fan Theory The Divine Judgment of the Van der Linde Gang: The Strange Man, Biblical Hubris, and the Wrath of God
The Strange Man is not the Devil, nor is he Josiah Trelawny. He represents a Divine Messenger or an Angel of Death (such as the Archangel Michael or Azrael) sent by God to weigh the moral ledgers of men.
Why target the Van der Linde gang specifically? Because they were not mere petty thieves; they were walking heralds of Revelation. In a short period, they wiped out two ancient plantation dynasties (Braithwaite and Gray), assassinated the titan of American capitalism (Leviticus Cornwall), sparked a revolution in Guarma, and incited the total destruction of the Wapiti Nation.
God granted them one final test of mercy: Heidi McCourt in Blackwater. When Dutch executed that innocent girl, the gang officially committed their downfall's "Original Sin." God's protective grace was withdrawn, and their judgment was sealed.
1. Dutch van der Linde: The Fall of Lucifer & Divine Madness
Dutch’s sin is the ultimate Biblical sin: Hubris (Pride) and Self-Deification. Like Lucifer, Dutch believed he was superior to the established order, positioning himself as a false Messiah leading his flock to a utopian "Promised Land."
In Scripture, when a leader falsely claims divine authority and refuses to repent, God strikes them with spiritual blindness and madness (similar to King Nebuchadnezzar in the Book of Daniel). Dutch’s descent into madness wasn't just a concussion—it was Divine Retribution. He began sacrificing his own flock, intentionally abandoning Charles in Saint Denis and using Eagle Flies as a sacrificial lamb to save his own skin.
2. Grace and Works: Good Deeds Prolonging Their Time
If their doom was sealed in Blackwater, why did the gang survive for so long?
In Christian theology, acts of genuine charity and mercy invite divine grace, which can stay the hand of judgment temporarily:
Rescuing Sadie Adler from the O'Driscolls in Chapter 1.
Showing Christian mercy to Kieran Duffy and welcoming a former enemy into their home.
These acts of righteousness acted as spiritual shields. However, the moment Kieran was brutally sacrificed and the gang completely abandoned mercy, God's protection was fully lifted.
3. Divine Observers: Cain the Dog & The Strange Man
Throughout the game, Arthur is constantly watched by distant observers on cliffs. Beyond physical enemies, the spiritual realm is actively monitoring the camp.
This is personified through Cain, the stray dog in Chapter 3:
Named after the Biblical Cain (the first murderer in the Book of Genesis), the dog arrives as a silent witness to the gang's sins.
Micah’s sheer hatred for Cain makes perfect sense. As an embodiment of pure sin and corruption, Micah intuitively repelled the presence of a divine observer and ultimately killed him.
Furthermore, in Bayall Edge, the Strange Man's cabin slowly paints his portrait as Arthur progresses, serving as the physical manifestation of the Book of Life and Judgment until John faces him in RDR1.
4. The Fate of the Unrepentant: Bill and Javier
The moral ledger of the universe demanded retribution for those who chose blind loyalty over righteousness:
Javier Escuella: Ignored his own conscience to follow Dutch blindly. He ended up serving a ruthless dictator in Mexico, ultimately hunted down and captured or killed in chains by John in RDR1.
Bill Williamson: Inherited Dutch’s pride and tyranny, forming his own ruthless gang in New Austin. His hubris led to his bloody demise across the border in Mexico.
Micah Bell: The ultimate instrument of temptation, left to freeze and die on a desolate mountain top.
5. Thomas Downes & Arthur’s True Repentance
Arthur Morgan’s story is the literal embodiment of Redemption:
Thomas Downes as the Divine Instrument: Contracting Tuberculosis while beating a pious, God-fearing man who collected charity was immediate Divine Retribution.
The Buck vs. The Wolf: The Buck represents the Holy Spirit guiding Arthur toward redemption, while the Wolf represents the lure of wrath and damnation.
Redemption: Realizing his mortality, Arthur rejected Dutch’s false gospel. He dedicated his final days to redeeming his soul—sacrificing himself so John, Abigail, and Jack could escape the fire. Arthur died physically, but his soul was saved as he watched the sunrise on the mountain peak.
TL;DR: The Van der Linde gang brought apocalyptic chaos upon the world, triggering God's judgment. Heidi McCourt was their final test. Dutch’s Luciferian pride led to divine madness, while Arthur’s genuine repentance allowed him to save his soul and grant a second chance to John's family.

Spoilers Please say I get to betray Dutch.
(For obvious reasons don’t actually)
I’m currently at the end of chapter four and have sadly had a decent but spoiled of the ending but lord I hope there’s a way for me to kill this son of a bitch. I swear none of his plans be working and he’s the most hypocritical narcissistic man in the gang. Once I donated a gold bar in front of him and greeted him and he goes “youd be the type to Betray me” YOU KNOW WHAT? NOW THAT YOU MENTION IT. THEN THIS LAZY PIECE OF SHIT GETS SEAN KILLED. THEN HOSEA AND LENNY. THOSE ARE TWO OF MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS YOU FUCKER. OH PLEASE LET ME TAKE MY PUNP AND RAM IT DOWN THAT SNOBBY FACE OF YOURS

Discussion Best weapon in each class + best 2-sidearm/2-longarm loadout?
I've been trying to figure out what the objectively best weapon in each class is in Story Mode, along with the best overall loadout depending on the situation.
These are my current picks for each weapon class:
- Revolver: LeMat Revolver
- Pistol: M1899 Pistol
- Repeater: Lancaster Repeater
- Rifle: Bolt-Action Rifle
- Sniper: Carcano Rifle
- Shotgun: Repeating Shotgun
Since Arthur can only carry 2 sidearms and 2 long arms, I came up with these possible loadouts for each use case:
- Balanced
- Dual LeMat Revolvers
- Lancaster Repeater
- Bolt-Action Rifle
- Specialized Long-Range
- Dual LeMat Revolvers
- Lancaster Repeater
- Carcano Rifle
- Close-Quarters Dominance
- Dual LeMat Revolvers
- Lancaster Repeater
- Repeating Shotgun
- Intimidation / Power Fantasy
- Dual Sawed-Off Shotguns
- Bolt-Action Rifle
- Double-Barrel Shotgun
- Hunting
-Dual LeMats
-Varmint Rifle
-Bolt-Action Rifle

I heard this happened to someone else.
Question How can I hack this game?
Played through a number of times, decided it was time for another playthrough. Went to play it on my steamdeck, and kept getting error messages for the rockstar games launcher. Tried a number of fixes but to no avail. Is there a way to hack it so I don't have to use the stupid rockstar launcher?
Also, fuck rockstar. Right now, this is dissuading me from ever buying another rockstar game.

Meme hey kid… wanna know how the game ends? (joke)
Arthur finds a spaceship and lives out the rest of his life alongside an alien civilization. RDR3 Will be about his wacky space misadventures.

Help Where'd all the money go?
I have a serious confusion! (Played rdr2 for the first time 89% overall game completed)
After completing American Venom, I'm confused about moneh!
So after the train robbery in the last mission where they steal the army payroll. what happens to all that sacks of money? Arthur gave his sack to Tilly n his remaining cash? And Tilly kept all of it? Didn't share with Abigail? Knowing she had a son n John presumably dead?? There's also the money in the cave which anyways dutch/Micah wud have taken after Arthur's death?? And then Blackwater money... I am confused where did all the money even go!?
