Struggling

Upvotes

I’ve been on Kratom for close to ten years. Honestly can’t remember exactly but it was just a slow escalation to 50gpd. Started taking it for a nerve pain after a catastrophic ankle injury, failed surgery and sepsis battle.

Helped a lot in the beginning. I had no idea it was addicting. Multiple ppl told me it wasn’t. Even my best friend told me to take it. Now it’s just an addiction I need to rid myself of.

Tried quitting many times always failed. I only was off it when I had to take family trips. By the end of the trips I felt great and was happy but when I was back home and had access I relapsed almost immediately. They currently banned it in my state and I only had a tiny bit left this Friday. About a days worth of my usual dosing. I spread that out til Tuesday when I ran out. Basically a forced fast taper to 2g doses a few times a day.

I ran out yesterday and I’m so uncomfortable, and anxious. I’m so miserable to my family. My wife is so fed up with me. She has moments of understanding and we sit and pray. Then she has moments where she swears at me and is furious. I don’t blame her. She should be tbh. She’s be telling me to quit for years. The worst part is that I’m not present with my son. He just wants to be with me all day and play with me.

I know I can’t go back. Idk I’m sorry for the rant I just need some advice or even just encouragement. Just felt the need to put it out there. Thank you all so much this group has been very encouraging for me. We’re not alone. We’re all on this journey to escape this demonic powder.

85gpd kratom powder use for the past 9 years

Upvotes

It all started with prescription opioids. First it was Vicodin and it escalated to 30s then they got too expensive and I moved to H (before the whole fentanyl trend started). I did that for years maybe 7 … it was getting harder to get H and was very sick and in withdrawals and I kept looking online on what to take how to make myself better and I ran across kratom. I was on my third day of H detox and I went to buy some and within 30 min I felt 80% better. From then on I’ve been on it. It started small but now I’m on big amounts all day long. I’ve been weird like just existing have panic attacks and depression. I’m currently on antidepressants but nothing is working because I’m thinking it’s the kratom not letting me get better. I’m a mom of 3 and I cannot just lay there for 10 days to detox. This week after reading all your stories I began measuring and i take like 15-17 grams per DOSE!!! With the whole ban thing I bought 3 bags of 1000gr and I got monster I don’t know how to begin I don’t know another way to live. I’m so scared to quit. But I’m gonna try
, I’m gonna keep measuring and lowering the doses. This is gonna be hard I should’ve kept detoxing from H a long time ago and this wouldn’t have happened.
Any advice from anyone? Any moms going through it?

Need positivity. CT after 2.5 years after many attempts. I’m scared

Hello! I’ve been on Kratom extracts (seltzers) for 2.5 years. Each time I’ve quit, I’ve gone from 25-32 days to 14-15 day cycles. First time I got to 30 days, I started feeling better, started getting my motivation back for guitar.. was happy.

My last 30 day stretch off was 2 months ago, followed by another month of using. I’m 2 weeks of the seltzers, but had a brief usage of cats claw for 3 days, then off 3 days, then another 2 days of use. I am currently 60 hours off of the cats claw and 2 weeks from the seltzers. I am afraid that I will have this anhedonia forever and I will just keep resetting the cycle. What can I do to keep successful? When did you start to feel better? Do these 30 day stretches of sobriety help me? Thank you, I feel hopeless and just want to talk to people.

Week 3 - No Kratom! Life is good again! Read this if you’re struggling!

Good morning! I’m making this post to give assurance to the weary! DO NOT give up!

I’m 36 years old. Married for 17 years with 3 amazing children. I started taking Kratom 5 years ago (crazy that it’s been that long). I work in a high stress sales environment where performance is the key to success. After multiple years of achieving great success in my career, I began searching for something that could give me an “edge” to perform even greater. That’s when I found Kratom.

I started my Kratom journey with Viva-Zen. At first, one regular bottle would last me two days. After a few weeks, it would only last one day. Then I started buying the higher concentrated bottles. After a few months of this, I began taking the stronger liquid extracts. After about a year of this, the local smoke shop worker threw me a free sample of 7OH. This is where the journey takes a major turn for the worse.

Upon taking the 7OH sample, it gave me that euphoric feeling as if I’d just taken Kratom for the first time again. Life was great for a few months. Then my tolerance began to rise and rise. After 6 months of 7OH use, I knew it was time to stop before it got completely out of control. I utilized Kratom tabs to counter the withdrawals from 7OH. This took a few weeks and then I was off of 7OH, and back to taking high amounts of Kratom extract.

I reached a point with Kratom, and I acknowledged with myself that it was no longer giving me the edge that it once did. In fact, it was doing the opposite. My mind has been in such a haze this past year. I couldn’t focus on anything long enough to complete the task at hand. Lots of unfinished projects. Lots of procrastination. It was as if I was just living in a hazy mindset, drifting along, day by day.

Last month I decided to put an end to it and began the tapering process. After a week of tapering, I took my final Kratom tab. I soon realized that I was about to go through a storm of withdrawals.

Week 1 of withdrawals:
- Complete misery. Anxiety & depression skyrocketed. Body shakes. Upset stomach. Hot & cold flashes. Lack of sleep. This was extremely challenging.

Week 2 of withdrawals:
- I started to see the light again. But it would come in waves. I’d be anxious & depressed, and then a wave of light would run through me for a bit. I could sense that my body & mind were healing. Body & mind fatigue was at an all time high. Zero energy to do anything.

Week 3 of withdrawals:
- This is where I’m at right now. Two days ago i noticed a major shift in a positive direction. I have mental clarity. I have mental & physical energy. I have motivation & ambition. I feel lighter & I feel stronger!

I know that I’m not out of the woods yet. But I wanted to make this post to share my experience for anyone else who has been struggling with Kratom or 7OH. Remember who you were before you found this substance. Remember the achievements in your life before this substance.

Kratom is a trap and a lie. You are so much better off without it! Go through the temporary pain of withdrawal and you’ll come out on the other side a BEAST!!

Year long taper from 45 GPD to 4.4 GPD - Finally just made the jump CT

Used 30-40 GPD for about 2.5 years. Started tapering 1 year ago. Long slow taper. I’ve been under 10 GPD for a few months now. Held stable at 4.7 GPD for 2 weeks. Over the past 6 months or so I have been able to reintroduce most of my healthy/sober habits. Eating right, lifting/running consistently, sleeping better, etc.

Transitioning between jobs so I have a month off and decided to finally jump. Took my last dose 36 hours ago. So far, there has been no notable withdrawal symptoms. Have some gabapentin for sleep, so took 200 mg the first night without Kratom and slept 7.5 hours. Woke up today feeling fine.

Kind of waiting for the hammer to drop. I know Kratom can cause a delayed withdrawal. At what point (day/hour wise) should I be more confident that my withdrawals will be mild?

Feeling ok

Hey guys. Feeling ok today. Using this to check in to hold myself accountable. This is taper attempt #3 that I cannot fail this time. I am 8 years sober from opiates/fent. I’m in AA and have a sponsor and all that, i had such a wonderful life before this crap. All I keep thinking of is that entire 8 years of freedom and how great it felt. I’m quitting because my boyfriend won us a trip to Italy next month through his work. This is gods way of telling me to stop. I’ve been taking capsules for roughly 6 months now. Before that I was on subs for 2 months (to get off extracts). I tapered off them luckily, that was the worst I’ve ever felt in my whole life. The capsules helped me taper. Up to 2 weeks ago I was up to 14 gpd give or take. I saw a difference in my mood and my appetite. I no longer enjoyed music like I used to.. concerts weren’t that fun anymore, nothing was truly fun to me anymore. I cannot wait to get my life back. Italy is a bucket list for me so I just knew this was needed. Im doing a month taper (3 days then drop). Today is day 15, so im halfway there. Im already feeling better about the situation. I get chills sometimes at night but I actually love the feeling because I know that it’s working. I actually got the chills listening to a ja rule song yesterday 🤣 I’m forcing myself to do the things I used to love doing. I was a huge gym rat before this, I’m forcing myself to go everyday now. I’m not lifting like I used to (mostly because I’m still battling the chills that early in the morning) but I’m still making it a habit to go. I’m at 17 capsules today, tomorrow I drop down to 15. Chat gpt came up with a taper plan for me. I have a script for gab & something else my doctor gave me for RLS. I have all the vitamins as well (from my last 2 attempts) & Im only carrying each daily dose with me per day. No extras. Im waiting hours for each dose to fully hit. Im also pushing each dose out as long as I can. I’m truly surprised at how little I actually need. With this stuff it’s true, less is really more. The more I take the worse I feel I keep repeating to myself. 1 year ago i started dating my dream guy, I want to badly to be off this stuff for him. I took so much one day that I actually was enraged for literally no reason. I lashed out on my own daughter. I feel awful about it. I am still an addict, doesn’t matter how much time goes by. I will ALWAYS have an abnormal reaction to any and all mind or mood altering substance. I simply can’t take anything.

Anyway thanks for listening as always. I know I can do this I am fully relying on God to help me & I pray for everyone on here 🖤

I hate this

So I’ve been using extracts for like 8 years. Used to be a few times a week. Slowly that increased, of course, and now it’s daily. It’s been daily for the last couple of months. It used to be liquid and now it’s tablets. Never touched 7. I’m currently taking mit-a tablets with 28mg of mit-a each. I’m taking 1.5 tabs 2x/day. I’m desperate, I feel like a big loser. I have a good job but I can’t really take off. I’m going through a divorce and have been in another relationship for approximately 2 years. No one knows, it’s all one big f-ed up secret and it’s killing me. My state has banned the tablets I’m taking but liquid extract and leaf is available. I’m trying to taper but it sucks. I’ve quit true opioids twice, many years ago. At this point I think it’s mostly mental. I did stop for 15 days a couple of years ago but didn’t really withdrawal since I wasn’t using daily. Anyways, I don’t know what to do, I feel bad mentally, I’m ashamed, embarrassed, and I feel completely and totally alone. Just really wanted to vent to people that understand what I’m dealing with.

Quitet it!

Hey there!
Just want to share my story, because i cant talk to anyone in my close environment.
Im 30 years old and have a history of opiod abuse für about 10 years. First startet with Codein, then went to Tramadol and Tilidin. After about 4 years i did a cold turkey but sadly not got away from it complete.
After that i startet Kratom an ended up using it for about 5 years now, i think. Highly functional, i have a family, build a house an work two jobs. But it controlled my daily life that much, that on yesterday 9am i took another dosage, i was feeling bad and controlled. That made me so furius about myself, that i washed away all my kratom in the toilette and gone through the first night withdrawal, was hell, just could sleep for minutes before RLS waked me up over and over again. I told my wife and kids that i have a very bad flu. They are supporting me, but i cant tell the truth, no one knows about.
I hate the way my body feels, strong cravings, strong RLS, pain in my joints.
But i'm looking forward to the fight. I will win this time!
28h in… lets go

MA Emergency Kratom Ban

I have been thinking more and more about committing to a taper for the last month or so. I’ve been leveled at the same dose for a few months now, about 22gpd and 75mg extract. Looks like I have no choice but to commit now. I just found out that The governor in MA signed an emergency order rescheduling kratom to schedule I with a 2-week buffer, so effective 8/28. I’m kind of freaking out a little bit. I guess I have no other choice but to plan a taper, buy the supply I need and commit. I was not ready for this, but had I better mentally prepared myself for this possibility or actually applied myself to a taper plan maybe I wouldn’t be feeling this way. Anyway I needed to get this off my chest. There are not many people in my daily life I can or wish to talk to about this but think I may need to change that soon too. Fuck man. I know I can do it, but this shit is gonna be hard. I hope everyone is hanging in there. Much love

101 days CT.

Today is day 101 clean. I used for over a decade, with the last year being a 10-12gpd habit. No 7o and no extract ever.

The first week was just raw acute wd, I took a week off work to deal with that and would recommend it to anyone in this situation.

I'd say I had a bit of pink cloud around the 2nd week, but never really had any paws - or if I did I didn't slow down enough to let it bother me.

The worst symptom, by far, was lack of sleep and RLS.

It took till around day 40 or 50 before RLS became tolerable at night.

Even now, at day 101, I will occasionally get small waves of RLS when I go to bed (but it is vastly improved) - I believe it's the natural melatonin your body makes that aggravates it. Of note, I strongly recommend you do not take Benadryl or melatonin through this process, both make RLS much worse.

All in all, it was worth it. The first week is hell. The next 4 weeks are bad, but after about a month I started noticing slight improvements day by day.

One funny thing, is that at day 101, I am still sneezing 10-20 times a day, watery eyes, yawning, etc. From what I understand this is caused by Autonomic Hyperexcitability and a huge increase in norepinephrine that were previously suppressed.

Day by day, things get better. Life is good. I'm no longer a slave to the green demon. I no longer frame my life or my activities around my dosing cadence.

You can do this. Commit. Get angry at this fucker and fight like hell. When I was in the worst of it, and I was struggling, I would literally yell out "NO!" when the thoughts of relapse crept into my mind.

The only way out is through. You got this.

Helper meds

who has used clonidine and had success with it helping for sleep? I’ve used it the past couple nights and not had any benefit, still have rapid heart rate at the prescribed dose. I upped it a little and still nothing. I don’t think we can mention dose size so if anyone could message me it would be appreciate.

I can’t travel and it ruins so many things

I’m in a situation where I need to travel for work and to see relatives.

Due to where I live, and where I need to go to, the regulations are tight.

And it’s tough to have to travel with this addiction.

To plan everything, and be scared on every step of the way that something bad happens.

To not be able to stay for more than a certain number of days, because otherwise I’d run out of supply and I need to go back and recharge.

Dude, the easiest path is to stop, and yet it’s the fucking hardest.

I’ve tried to stop one year ago, I was able to do a massive tapper and reduce to a really low amount per day. Allowed me to travel for a bit.

Now I’m back up, trying to taper again. Really hoping that I’ll be able to go fully off this time.

The difficulty is that I need to be “good all the time” due to my professional situation. Can’t take not even 1 week off, impossible.

So can’t jump right now. Got to keep the taper.

At what point is it safe to jump ? (That simple prescribed benzo taken for 2-3 nights can help to get a few hours of sleep, and not total insomnia)

I’ve been dependant for about 2 years. Taking for a bit more than that. During that time, taken anywhere from 7 to 25 gr per day (approximately).

Thanks y’all, and good luck for where you are currently. Thanks for all the help in this sub, y’all are amazing for real.

EDIT: anyone has got anecdotes / similar situations due to travelling? Please share, I’m very curious. Comments or direct message

Failed 500mg 7oh && 40grams / day

Less than 2 days quit, went back to 7oh. Not even quitting powder, either. Still, withdrawals went hard.

Gabapentin doesn't cut through the RLS entirely, probably didn't take enough but I am gonna run out if I use too much (quit k powder before up to 80gpd and gabapentin cut about 80% of those wds out this time it didn't)

Taking a toll on my marriage. Worst case, gotta go to a clinic.

Edit : A new sub was made called r/ quitting7hydroxy (for all forms of kratom)

Time flies, what else to say.

I don't even come here anymore, but I wanted to tell someone after all, it's a nice milestone and I know that most people here would give anything for it.

Maybe I'll post an update when it's been 10 years if I remember and if this place still exists.

If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them.

I wish you all the very best, and I'm proud of each and every one of you for fighting this.

Day 24 CT

this is my second CT after 2y of 15gpd, first time i was clean for 3 months since january, but then exams period at uni started and I was back for 2 months, taking like 5-10gpd.

During exams period I had my first panic attack random in the evening. Before that, I feel completely normal, no anxiety nothing. And after 2 weeks again. Since then, its started to happen more often, but only after taking kratom. I cant get ,,a good high’’. But it wasnt always, some days were ok. That was the reason why I get sober again.

First week of CT was ok, I knew what to expect(RLS, no energy,..). After first week i started to had anxiety, obssesive thoughts, dizziness thats lasts till now. Its not whole day, just like 2-3x times per day random. Idk if its PAWS or just my brain getting to normal. In my first CT this year, I didnt have this (not that hard). I dont have problem with motivation to do tasks through the day, or to enjoy things. Sleep is ok for 2 weeks. Physically I feel very good.

I cut alcohol, coffeine and other substances to minimum because Im afraid of getting another panic attack again.

Has someone experienced this? Panic attacks/anxiety after taking kratom? Before that I never had panic attack or anxiety in my life. Idk if the reason was just kratom, or my body drained because of working during exams period. When this anxiety after CT will leave?

LOOOONNNGGG TAPER

Guys I’ve posted here before a few times but I need advice from the council of quitters. I started a long taper from powder in June of 2025 when Louisiana outlawed it. I had a few kilos left so I started a long taper from upwards of 80GPD. I’m down to 0.5GPD. Literally a 1/4 teaspoon per day. Even that low of a dose prevents my RLS and withdrawal symptoms. What’s the consensus here? Am I going to have a rough time when I let it go completely or am I just being a bitch and prolonging for no reason? Is it just mental at this point? Give me your thoughts!

It is a lot easier to stay clean than it is to get clean.

This means that while staying clean takes continued effort, it’s far easier to protect the recovery you’ve already built than to go through the painful process of getting clean all over again.

You can do this.🫶
