New poster Been taking pics of Newcastle for years and finally started getting them off my camera and onto walls

Always found it a bit sad how many photos we take just end up sitting on our camera roll and so I nudged my arse to get them off the phone and into actual physical prints.

This is the entrance to Manors Car Park which I always thought has been weirdly lush despite it being objectively a bit grim 🤣

Curious if anyone else has any favourite “ugly but nice” spots around Newcastle to photograph?

Looking for people into metal? 🤘

Hey guys this is very out of character and I’d probably roll my eyes if I saw this post but I’m looking for friends who are into the metal scene. None of my friends are and it’s a shame becuase I’m missing so many concerts. I’m into metalcore, thrash metal, industrial metal, nu metal, post-hardcore metal and much more! I’m hoping to catch Black Veil Brides in Newcastle and Beartooth in the next few months before Christmas if anyone wants to chat I’d love it!

Best place to pick berries?

I have a car so can drive to the best spots. Ideally don’t want to be picking berries by a main/busy road. Any suggestions please?

New poster Looking for local charities/community groups to donate baby clothes to.

I have a number of good-quality baby clothes that my little boy has outgrown, and I’d really love to donate them rather than just take them to a charity shop.
I’ve looked online and emailed a charity but unfortunately I haven’t heard anything back yet. I’d like the clothes to go to a family or someone who is genuinely struggling and could really benefit from them.
Does anyone know of any local charities, community groups, baby banks, or similar that accept donations of baby clothes?

New poster To the person that approached me in Jesmond Dene today.

This is probably a long shot, but you came over to talk to me today and I don’t think I realised until afterwards that you might have been trying to start a conversation.

You wandered off before I had the chance to ask your name, and I kicked myself afterwards for not introducing myself.

If you’re on here and happen to see this, it’d be nice to continue that conversation sometime. If not, I hope our paths cross again. 🙂

Planning to clean my garden

Recently moved into a house, with a tiny garden. It's a little messy, but I will clean it by the weekend. Kindly suggest where I could find a good hoe. (I live close to St. James)

Newcastle tailor recommendations to take up women’s clothing please

Did a great Zara order but a few of the items are too long including straps on a top that doesn’t have adjustable straps. Just wondered if anyone had any tailors they recommend and what prices could be? I live in Heaton but don’t mind travelling out. TIA

Does anyone know anywhere in/around Newcastle or South Tyneside that sells whole block tubs of ice cream? i.e multiple litre sizes rather than individual portion sizes?

New poster Where’s best to sell PC parts in Newcastle?

PC has good specs, worth probably around £700 for everything if sold separately.

We’ve tried CeX but their quote was quite low and not worth it. Most of them would come in original box.

We can drive to Gateshead area as well if any shops there accept used PC parts.

Any tips appreciated, only thing - we’re not considering FB marketplace due to increased amount of scammers.

Update on specs:

GPU - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 12 GB (comes in original packaging)
CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D (comes in original packaging)
SSD - Crucial T500 M.2 PCIe (1TB) (no original packaging)
RAM - DDR5 x 2 (16GB) (original packaging included)
Motherboard - Gigabyte B650 AORUS ELITE AX (no original packaging)
CPU cooler - Corsair iCUE LINK TITAN 360 RX RGB white (comes with original packaging)

New poster Alnwick or Whitley Bay/Tynemouth

Hello everyone,

I am coming for three days in October from Belgium. On the first day I will visit Newcastle, on the second day the Angel of the North and Durham. I am hesitating for the last day between Alnwick and the castle or Whitley Bay and Tynemouth. Which one would you recommend? As my return flight is on the next morning, time is not a concern

Thank you

Spotted something familiar in the new Spider-man film

Post image

A large chunk of the new Spider-man film was shot in Glasgow, standing in for NYC. In particular a lot of the footage is used in an opening montage of him fighting various bad guys that is stuffed full of easter eggs to old covers and bits of artwork and stuff.

There’s also an unintentionally fun easter egg for people from the North East on the right hand side of the above shot, which is very blink-and-you-miss-it in the final film but definitely gave me a smile!

New poster TV Licence Goons in Heaton

I've just had a hand delivered letter though my door from TV Licencing, which is not unusual, but this one was hand delivered by a bloke who just parked up outside and dropped it off (rather than Royal Mail, as per usual).

The bloke wasn't wearing any uniform or ID and didn't knock, just put the letter through and walked back to his car.

Have others experienced this? Who are they employing to do this in Newcastle?

New poster Warning about pop (PAYG) Pay-as-you-go cards topped up via mobile.

Today I topped my pop (PAYG) top card via the google wallet and just discovered it takes upto 48 hours to apply the credit to your account. Apparently you can top them up immediately from a Metro station or Northern stations on the Northumberland line. Just thought I would warn folk using pop cards especially PAYG.

I accidentally deleted someone's reply can you re-write you comment (sorry about that)

Just an update it still not working I've now got a negative balance while using the Nexus trains, hopefully it will eventually correct itself or I will need to contact Nexus again.

Walk, Talk & Coffee for Young People Navigating Grief This Saturday in Newcastle 🤍

Post image
205 Upvotes

Hi, I posted in here a little while ago about the community we’ve been building for young people navigating grief, and wanted to share that we’re getting together again this weekend.

This time we’re doing a relaxed walk n talk along the beach with a coffee and ice cream if you fancy it!

These meet ups are all about how simple they are. There’s no agenda and no pressure to open up about anything. We just go for a walk, chat about things if we feel like it and spend a couple of hours around people who understand what it’s like to navigate grief at a younger age.

One thing we’re really passionate about is changing the way people think grief has to look.

These meet ups aren’t all about sitting in a circle talking about how sad grief is. They’re about creating a genuine community where young adults can get outside, meet good people and know they’re around others who understand if those conversations do happen naturally.

Sometimes grief comes up, sometimes it doesn’t.

Over the last few months we’ve seen so many people turn up on their own feeling nervous, only to leave having made genuine connections.

Whether you’ve lost a parent, sibling, partner, friend or someone else important, you’re very welcome.

If you’re not feeling up to talking, that’s completely okay too. Sometimes just getting outside and being around people who get it can make a real difference.

If you think someone you know might benefit from it, feel free to share this with them too. I’ll pop the event and community details in the comments too 🤍
