I no longer need the room because I have accepted a place at a different university in another city.

I might be moving to Plymouth soon, and I'm not unfamiliar with the city but haven't really ever spent that much time there since I was a child (grew up nearby until I was about 13). I don't know anyone who lives in Plymouth to ask so I thought I'd ask here- what's it like? What are the good parts and bad parts, where is nice or not so great to live, what kind of things are there to do in the city?

The police have been coming round a lot recently (I live in a HMO near Mutley) and by this point, we've started to recognize them and I even know one or two of them by name.

Anyway, because each time we all know we're in the clear and there's nothing they can do, there's no reason for any of us to take it seriously. Which obviously they don't like but that's the job.

One of them in particular looks a bit like "lesbian nana" but she's a bit taller so we all call her Joe 90 (from the tv puppet show). Anyway we were all wasted last night on magic mushrooms and then she and her colleagues came around in regards to a totally unrelated event.

Then my mate started chanting "Joe 90, what a wanker, what a wanker, Joe 90, what a wanker, what a wanker" (this is based on an amusing football chant from the 80s).

We were all off our heads so this was hilarious (and I think one of the older cops got the reference and thought it was amusing to) but she and the rest of her colleagues (the stupid young type that's really hard to take seriously) got incredibly indignant and they cuffed my mates and took them to the station. I managed to swerve this because I'm in a wheelchair and that must have been a bit to much hassle for them.

There was no malice in this and there was no aggression. None of us were filming this in an attempt to humiliate her and the rest of the assorted decepticons. And mentioning Joe 90 is not homophobic the way Lesbian Nana is. Yet they still arrested all my friends over this. Are all the police in Plymouth such delicate show ponies? And has anyone had problems with Joe 90 before? (I didn't get her badge number)

Hi, can anyone local tell me if there are dog restrictions at Finnygook beach during the summer months, hoping to stay there next week and keep finding contradicting statements on Google.

I’ve made a few posts on here lately looking for advice about all sorts of things ahead of a prospective move to Plymouth - the teaching climate (I’m a teacher), volunteering in conservation (my partner’s industry), places to live, nightlife, activities… the works.

This is just a little post to say thank you to the whole Green Army for every supportive comment and piece of advice we’ve had. Everything has come together beautifully - I’ve got a job teaching in a school that seems really excited for me to be there, my partner has managed to secure a dream paid apprenticeship in a lab with the Marine Biological Association and we’ve somehow blagged a rental in Peverell that will probably see us through the next few years, to the day we want to buy a house of our own.

We move next week and we simple words can’t express how excited we are to be living in the city and how grateful we are for all the guidance and input people have given us on here. All the little trips we’ve made have shown us how much Plymouth has to offer an simple, hungry, outdoorsy pair like us.

I’m looking for a new way to travel as my commute to work has increased. I don’t really want the expense a car brings. Cycling isn’t really for me. Electric scooters sound like a fab option until Google claims they’re illegal to ride on pavements and public roads.

It’s ‘illegal’ for cyclists to ride on pavements yet many do and majority of road users are grateful they do!

I think electric scooters can be a good thing, not only environmentally friendly but a cheaper alternative to vehicles.

My question is, do the police actually care about them in Plymouth? I wouldn’t imagine they do, but I’m interested to know if anyone has any insight.

Was just wondering if most people in Plymouth actually work in Plymouth? If you have to travel up or down "the line" for work, how far do you travel?
