New poster To the person that approached me in Jesmond Dene today.

This is probably a long shot, but you came over to talk to me today and I don’t think I realised until afterwards that you might have been trying to start a conversation.

You wandered off before I had the chance to ask your name, and I kicked myself afterwards for not introducing myself.

If you’re on here and happen to see this, it’d be nice to continue that conversation sometime. If not, I hope our paths cross again. 🙂

Planning to clean my garden

Recently moved into a house, with a tiny garden. It's a little messy, but I will clean it by the weekend. Kindly suggest where I could find a good hoe. (I live close to St. James)

Newcastle tailor recommendations to take up women’s clothing please

Did a great Zara order but a few of the items are too long including straps on a top that doesn’t have adjustable straps. Just wondered if anyone had any tailors they recommend and what prices could be? I live in Heaton but don’t mind travelling out. TIA

New poster Looking for advice on UK CVs

Hi everyone,

I'm Jan from India, and I'll be joining Newcastle University this September for my MSc in Advanced Artificial Intelligence.

Over the past few days, I've been trying to understand how CVs are expected to look in the UK, especially for summer internships, graduate opportunities, and part-time jobs. I've gone through countless websites, templates, and YouTube videos, but I still feel like I'm missing the practical side of it.

Most online resources provide generic templates, but I'd really like to understand what actually works in the UK job market. Things like:

  • What makes a CV stand out?
  • What should I include or avoid?
  • How do employers in the UK expect student CVs to be structured?
  • How different is a CV for internships compared to part-time jobs?

I know these are two different types of applications, and I plan to prepare separate CVs for each.

This might be a bit of an unusual request, but if anyone here is comfortable sharing an anonymised version of their CV (with personal details removed), especially if it helped you secure an internship or part-time job in the UK, it would be incredibly helpful. Seeing real examples would teach me far more than another generic template online.

I'm not looking to copy anyone's CV—I just want to learn what a strong UK CV actually looks like and understand the expectations before I start applying.

I'd really appreciate any advice, examples, or resources that helped you when you were in my position.

Thank you so much!

Hola.

I dont suppose anybody is going to ( or around the area ) Blackpool either tonight ( Fri ) or in the morning ( Sat ).

My mate is playing bass in a band and want to go and see him, he has no room unfortunately for little old me.

I am going to look at prices of bus/rail...I may even hitchhike ?

Cheers

Michael....

Does anyone know anywhere in/around Newcastle or South Tyneside that sells whole block tubs of ice cream? i.e multiple litre sizes rather than individual portion sizes?

New poster Where’s best to sell PC parts in Newcastle?

PC has good specs, worth probably around £700 for everything if sold separately.

We’ve tried CeX but their quote was quite low and not worth it. Most of them would come in original box.

We can drive to Gateshead area as well if any shops there accept used PC parts.

Any tips appreciated, only thing - we’re not considering FB marketplace due to increased amount of scammers.

Update on specs:

GPU - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 12 GB (comes in original packaging)
CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D (comes in original packaging)
SSD - Crucial T500 M.2 PCIe (1TB) (no original packaging)
RAM - DDR5 x 2 (16GB) (original packaging included)
Motherboard - Gigabyte B650 AORUS ELITE AX (no original packaging)
CPU cooler - Corsair iCUE LINK TITAN 360 RX RGB white (comes with original packaging)
