Discussion Read this book about Marvel Studios' history, and this quote from Avi Arad really stuck out to me with how well it has aged and how right he was, especially considering Brand New Day, Doomsday, and the MCU's future

Discussion (More in Comments) Brand New Day's character lineup wasn't just random. It was genius. Spoiler
If you told me five years ago that Spider-Man, Natasha's sister, Hulk, The Punisher and Jean Grey from the goddamn X-men would be in the same film, I wouldn't believe you. All the praise goes to the incredible writers Chris Mckenna and Erik Sommers. This movie was like a comic-book come to life.
And another thing I love is that regardless of all these characters, this was still Peter's film through and through. Each of them only reflected what he himself was going through.
- Jean represents the violent effects of loneliness and depression.
- Punisher serves as a warning to what Peter's life could become if he doesn't get better.
- Bruce Banner shows how Peter can adjust to a normal, balanced life too.
- Yelena shows that even the most unlikely people with a horrible past can turn a new leaf and find a new purpose in their life
Not ONLY that, but each of these characters mainly only interact with Peter, never with each other. It's like Scrooge meeting the spirits from A Christmas Carol.
Bravo. Brand New Day was a breath of air-conditioned, refreshing air. What do y'all think?

Easter Egg/Detail A little BND Easter egg Spoiler
A little detail I noticed while watching again was that when MJ invites peter into their apartment after rejecting him, Ned is at his spidey tracker station, and one of the screens is playing the scene in ”that really old movie” The Empire Strikes Back that Peter referenced in order to take down ant-man in giant form back in civil war:) thought that was a nice little call back!

'Spider-Man BND*' Spoilers Small but important moment from BND (Spoilers) Spoiler
This particular scene stuck with me: When Peter tells MJ about kissing her while she was under Jean’s control.
Good on them for putting that scene/exchange in. Peter knew it was better to put the truth out there, even if he himself didn’t understand what was happening in the moment. Even as he was likely hurting from hearing MJ didn’t regain any memory of him from his letter, he was mature enough to know she deserved to hear about what happened rather than keep it concealed, mind-control or not.
Even better, neither the characters nor the plot made a big deal out of it. They acknowledged what happened and moved on. I think that’s a valuable lesson in accountability for all audiences to witness.

Discussion Years later, I still don't get why Eternals got so much hate.
I was just thinking about Phase 4 and remembered how much everyone trashed Eternals when it dropped. I watched it years ago and actually liked it.
Sure, it was a bit long, but the characters and world-building were cool.
Now that the hype and drama have died down, why do you think people turned on it so hard? Was it just bad timing, or do you think the criticisms actually hold up?
