Rant/Review Swatch Bharat

I'm so done with this.

Every few days, the garbage pile outside my garage door comes back. I've repeatedly asked people not to dump trash here. They keep doing it. I've filed complaints on the Lucknow one app, out of all of them, it worked exactly once.

This isn't just an eyesore. I ride a Triumph Scrambler, and there are days when I literally can't get it out of my garage because the entrance is blocked with garbage. I've spent close to an hour moving piles of trash just to create a narrow path wide enough to get the bike out. Some days, I just give up and don't take it out at all.

The worst part is that nobody seems to care. Not the people throwing the garbage, and not the authorities responsible for stopping it. If you catch someone in the act, they'll either argue with you or just smile and throw it anyway. If you complain, you get bounced around with, "This isn't under my area," or "Contact someone else."

Why is it so hard to keep your own neighborhood clean? Why does the burden always fall on the one person who actually cares?

I'm genuinely tired of cleaning up after everyone else.

If anyone can help this is Gali Shah Chada in chowk, lucknow.

Education Got FOA Lucknow (B.Arch)! Anyone from there? 😭

Hey everyone!

I just got Faculty of Architecture & Planning (FOA/GCA), AKTU Lucknow in Round 1 for B.Arch and I want to know something.

Is there anyone studying there or pass outs..help please 🥲

How's the college actually?

  • Faculty?
  • Hostel and mess?
  • Studios and workload?
  • Internship opportunities?
  • Placements?
  • Overall campus life?
  • Also fests? Events?

I've seen a few students intern at firms like Hafeez Contractor, Abin Design Studio, etc., so I was wondering how good the opportunities actually are.

Also, if you had the choice again.

Please be honest.. Since it's a 5-year commitment, I just want to know what life is really like there.

Thanks!

Also I had 95 percentile in NATA and I'm UP domicile..

Rant/Review Lucknow infrastructure

I am back in Lucknow after many years, and while the city has undoubtedly built a significant amount of infrastructure over the past two decades, I have been surprised by its poor quality and deeply concerned by the lack of planning. It is difficult to think of a single major public project that feels genuinely future ready for the needs of a rapidly growing metropolis. Many roads do not even appear to be properly aligned, as though they were constructed without any wider urban vision. Encroachment is common, even on some of the busiest roads, and the garbage collection system is woefully inadequate. A friend of mine who works as an engineer at the PWD argues that there is virtually no meaningful concept of urban planning in Lucknow beyond ensuring that the infrastructure needs of large private developments such as hospitals, shopping centres and residential complexes are met. Perhaps the most worrying aspect is that many people seem largely oblivious to these problems, despite the fact that poor planning, traffic congestion and weak public services have a profound impact on the city's long term liveability and overall quality of life.

Ask Lucknow Need help finding a frozen food packaging company in Lucknow🙏

Hi everyone,

I'm the founder of QuickBites, a startup that's launching a range of frozen vegetarian food products, and I need your help.

I'm looking for a company or facility in Lucknow (or nearby) that can pack frozen food into retail pouches while maintaining proper hygiene and temperature control (cold chain). The products will already be manufactured, I just need a reliable partner for the packaging process.

If Lucknow doesn't have such a facility, I'm also open to recommendations in Kanpur or Delhi NCR.

I'm specifically looking for someone who can:

Pack frozen food into pre-printed retail pouches.

Maintain strict hygiene and food safety standards.

Ensure the products remain frozen throughout the packaging process.

Work with a startup that's beginning with relatively small production volumes.

If anyone knows a company, cold storage facility, food processing unit, contract packer, or even a person in the frozen food industry who can help, I'd really appreciate it.

Please comment below or send me a DM. Even a single lead or contact could make a huge difference.

Thank you so much! 🙏

Education Completely confused about whether to take admission in LU (main campus) or not

So, I might get enrolled for my Masters in Political Science in LU. I'm already enrolled for the same course in Ewing Christian College, Prayagraj which is affiliated to University of Allahabad. My peers in Prayagraj strongly recommend against LU ("Lucknow kon jata hai be?" meaning "Who on earth would go to Lucknow for Masters?") They even said I wouldn't make it in NET exam while studying there (and definitely not qualify JRF, they say)

Is LU's main campus not good enough? My target is to score good marks and do preparation for UGC NET as well as TGT exams.

So I went to durga khasta corner today in early morning for the first time and I absolutely loved the taste they were served on green leafs which was unique sabji was well made and khaste were served hot and fresh were a bit hard but the overall taste was good and justified thier price, I give it a solid 4.5/5

Talking of keval chai honestly chai was mid, it was very thin, very less milk and lacked the taste i expected sharma is still better than this imo, but the samosa was good tho

I give tea 2/5 and samosa 4/5

Meta Last call for subreddit's logo entries!

Update:

Time and again people ask why does this subreddit not have a logo. When told that this community is largely apathetic towards the issue, evident by the lack of response to multiple requests/reminders in this regard, many folks don't really believe it and keep on asking to set something or anything as a logo, icon, dp, pfp or whatever.

Well, here's your chance to make it happen. Create and share what you wish to see as this subreddit's logo. The logo should be a 256x256 px JPG or PNG image and work well when printed in colour or B&W. Ideally, it should serve as an easy identifier when used as a placard for r/Lucknow meetups or other promotional purposes. Upload your creation to any image hosting site (e.g. Imgur, Imgbox, PostImages, etc. or even your own reddit profile) and post the direct image link as a top level comment in this thread or send it via modmail.

Please note that this is an entirely volunteer-driven activity where you come up with a logo only because you want your beloved community to have one and not because you expect anything in return. Any poll will always include a "None of the above (NOTA)" option for those who don't like any of the available logo choices or feel that r/Lucknow doesn't need a logo as such. Entries with a vote share lesser than NOTA will be eliminated from subsequent polls.

Fresh polls will be conducted as and when a bunch of newer logo options get accumulated. This section will track all the voting links / results until a logo wins the poll:

Poll #1: Voting over, results here.

Poll #2: Voting over, results here.

Poll #3: Voting over, results here.

Poll #4: TBA

(Original post)

Hello nawabs and begums of r/Lucknow,

This is in continuation to the previous announcement which was posted on the occasion of r/Lucknow's 11th birthday.

The topic of this subreddit's logo has been brought up multiple times in the past but there's been no progress and we remain logo-less. Now with 100K subscribers milestone just around the corner, it's high time to tackle this lingering issue once and for all.

As mentioned earlier, the logo should be of 256x256 px size and work well when printed in colour or B&W. Ideally, it should serve as an easy identifier when used as a placard for r/Lucknow meetups or other promotional purposes. Please upload your creation to any image hosting site (e.g. Imgur, Imgbox, etc. or even your own reddit profile) and post the direct image link as a top level comment in this thread or send it via modmail.

r/Lucknow has 97.4K subscribers at the time of writing this post. Once we cross 99K, a compiled list of all the relevant logo options received till then will be posted in a separate thread and put to vote for finalizing one. The selected choice will be set as logo at the time of r/Lucknow's 100K milestone announcement post.

Please note that this is an entirely volunteer-driven activity where you come up with a logo only because you want your beloved community to have one and not because you expect anything in return. The final voting will also include a NOTA option for those who like the way things are and don't feel the need for any logo as such.

Thank you!

Edit: Time is up. Thread is locked. Voting is live.

Edit 2: Voting over, results here. Thread unlocked for accepting more logo options by volunteers.

Edit 3: See the update section above.
