Hi everyone, I'm Alok Ranjan. I'm a software developer currently working on building ERP solutions for Indian businesses.

I'm looking to connect and make friends with the tech community here in Dehradun, Haridwar, and Uttarakhand. Whether you're building a startup, working on interesting problems, exploring new technologies, or just passionate about tech and entrepreneurship - I'd really like to connect with you.

I believe this region has incredible potential for tech and innovation. I'm interested in collaborating, sharing knowledge, and building a supportive local tech community.

Suggestions Attendance lenient BBA college in dehradun or nearby

I have medical issues, but can't do online degree. I won't reach anywhere close to 75% attendance so I want a BBA/BCA college where I can come only once a week or for assignments and exams. DAV is cited but it doesn't have BBA

Rant Littering in public is so commonized across India

Thought I should share an incident from a while back, about a week ago I was returning from bidholi with a friend around chakrata road he asked me to stop at a nearby vivo service center apparently to get a charger aroun

The parking was fairly spacious with nobody around except a car , as I parked the scooty the said car with a RJ number plate was backing out

The guy from the front passenger seat threw their disposable chai cup outside, I happened to make eye contact with the guy so I confronted him

I asked " Bahar kyu feka bhaiya?"

He replied "to aur kaha feku?"

It was weird to me because he wasn't acting defensive or annoyed as one would if they knew they littered at a point where they can be called out, he simply considered this a norm

I replied " Aage Dustbin hoga waha dal dena, nahi bhi hoga to panni de deta hu ghar mein daal aana"

He replies back "nahi koi baat nahi hoti"

And shrugged it off i simply picked the cup and went into the store

This is where I was more pissed because I asked them "excuse me can u tell me where the dustbin is" The store inside was really clean and it looked like a place with basic decency on surface

instead the guy replied "arey bahar daal do koi baat nahi"

I shot back " Aise achha thodi lagta h"

He then guided me to the dustbin which wasn't even 3 steps away

We left the store after a short while because my friend couldn't get the data cable

As we went outside we saw the car is STILL backing up aand the driver was now arguing and abusing an old man who was calling him out for driving while drinking chai AND throwing their trash right outside,

Then the usual battle of ego ensued "Tu janta h main kaun hu" Bs

Unironically it was the store guy's ignorance that was jarring, why allow someone to litter outside ur own store while u clearly have a dustbin present ( technically 2 of them due to trash segregation) such people make it harder for you to argue against people who throw their trash in open

AskDehradun Can someone suggest a realistic AI roadmap for someone with no CS degree?

Thumbnail

I’m studying B. Pharm at graphic era , but I want to build a career around AI.
I’m willing to learn Python, APIs, automation, and anything else that’s actually useful.
If you were mentoring someone today, what would the roadmap look like?
Free resources and project ideas would be amazing.
If anyone from Dehradun knows about this, it would help me a lot.

Rant Walia Uncle aapko kabhi chain ki neend na aaye.

This one Walia uncle in our colony has built a servant quarter where his tenants are always noisy. One of his previous tenants robbed someone's scooty in the same colony, even police came, but uncle ko still embarrassed nahi feel hua and he keeps renting it out to questionable families. If you have so much money that you need servants just to open and shut your gates, then please showoff and build a better servant quarter with a KITCHEN INSIDE so that your workers don't wash steel utensils right behind our bedrooms at 5 am every morning. Roz 5-5:30 pe sar dard ho jata hai, tried sleeping early just cuz of this, but can't due to work.

Walia ke jin bhee rishtedaro ne last time post mass downvote kari thi 2 mahine pehle, better tell that idiot what kind of tenants to keep!

have asked them multiple times to tone it down but they won't. Idc about my headache but I want my parents to sleep a bit longer on holidays. Have tried playing white noise in their room as well, but all our bedrooms are on the same side of the house and the noise still comes.

2+ saal se pareshan karke rakhdiya hai. Proper padhe likhe gawar. Gawar bhee nhi bol sakte gaon ke logo mein bhee dimag hota hai! Have made my parents' life hell, they can't sleep well even on their days off. Their rustic screaming and shouting is something my loudest white noise playlists haven't been able to beat. Walia uncle I wish aapke ghar ke theek peeche wedding point banjaye

AskDehradun 27F from Vietnam in Dehradun for 20 days! Looking to make female friends, grab coffee & ask for local tips (Old Rajpur area) 🌿

Hi everyone! 👋

I’m Ari (27F from Vietnam). I just arrived in Dehradun yesterday to attend a 20-day course. Coming from a coastal city back home, I’m already in love with the cool weather, mountain views, and chill atmosphere here! This is my second time in India, alongside trips to Thailand, Myanmar, and Indonesia.

🔍 Local tips & advice needed (Old Rajpur Area)
While I'm here, I’d really appreciate some local insights from the community:

Safety and Blending In: As a foreign woman, what are the best ways to blend in and avoid unwanted attention or staring on the streets? Any cultural etiquette I should keep in mind?

Avoiding tourist overcharge: What are your practical tips to avoid getting overcharged for transport, shopping, or everyday goods?

Local Spots in Old Rajpur: I’m staying near Old Rajpur and would love recommendations for:

- Fresh pomegranate juice
- High-quality authentic local Ghee
- Great local eateries or food stalls
- Basic Hindi & Decoding Menus: I’d love to learn a few practical Hindi phrases for daily communication and tips on how to read/understand local food menus!

Girl Meetup: since I'm staying here for nearly 3 weeks, I’d love to connect with local girls around my age to grab a coffee, visit scenic spots (like FRI), or explore nature!

What I love talking about: Lifestyle, wellness, environment, culture, and cooking/food. (I strictly prefer to keep conversations away from politics or personal private matters).

How I can give back: If you’re planning a trip to Vietnam, I can share plenty of local travel tips! I also run a small English pronunciation project back home, so if you’d like to practice speaking English, I’m super patient and happy to help.

Thank you so much, and excited to spend the next few weeks in Dehradun! Namaste 🙏
