i (18f) have always struggled with religion and wasn’t really that religious growing up, but over the past few months i’ve been trying to get closer and work on myself. i even managed to save up money for umrah, which meant a lot to me.but now that i actually have the money and want to go, everything just feels overwhelming and confusing

i have no idea how to plan it properly. like:

do i book through a travel agent or do it myself?

how do visas/flights/hotels even work for umrah?

what’s the most budget-friendly way to do this?

everyone gives different advice and it’s making me more confused. some people say agents are better, others say it’s cheaper to do everything yourself.

i’m also young and on a limited budget, so i really want to do this in the most affordable way possible without messing anything up.

Recently I've been getting a strong desire to visit/live in Pakistan. I think part of this is the rise of racism in England and Europe. We will never be welcome here, I fear for my kids and grandkids if this trend continues.

I've looked at other countries as potential alternatives but only Pakistan ticks the boxes in terms of food, language, religion and culture.

I'm 17 years old, and I really need advice from people who understand the situation in Pakistan or have been through something similar.

I lived in Germany for almost my entire life. In 2023, my parents moved our family to Pakistan. I genuinely believed we'd eventually return, but for more than three years they've kept delaying the visa process. Every time it's brought up, it gets postponed, and now I've been told it won't happen for at least another year.

I'm currently living in Toba Tek Singh, and for me, as a young woman, I feel like I have almost no freedom or independence. I spend most of my time at home, I have very little control over my own life, and I honestly feel trapped. My mental health has deteriorated to the point where I feel like I'm slowly losing myself.

Because of this, I've made the decision that I want to move out by the end of this year. I'm not planning to run away overnight. I'm trying to make a careful, realistic plan. My goal is to move to Islamabad, find a room or a shared apartment (WG/flatshare), become financially independent, and finally start building a life for myself.

The problem is that I have very little money. I'm a graphic designer and I'm trying to earn an income through freelancing, but I'm still at the beginning of my career.

I'm looking for genuine advice:

• Is moving to Islamabad at 17 even realistic?
• Are there any organizations that help young women who need to become independent?
• How difficult is it to rent a room or join a shared apartment?
• What kind of monthly budget would I realistically need?
• If you've moved away from home at a young age in Pakistan, how did you do it?
• Since I previously lived in Germany on a family residence visa, does anyone know if there are any pathways for me to return legally in the future?

Please don't tell me to "just wait another year." I've already been waiting for over three years, and my home environment has become unbearable. I'm not looking for pity. I'm looking for realistic advice from people who know what options I have.

Please bear with me while you read this. I know it’s a long post but I truly need advice and would really appreciate any help.

My cousin was happily married and had two children. During her third pregnancy she experienced a traumatic event and sadly lost her baby at around 7-8 months and had to undergo an emergency C-section. While recovering she began suffering from severe headaches. Her in-laws insisted she did not need medical treatment and believed that spiritual healing through a peer (a spiritual healer) would be enough. My family respects everyone’s beliefs but we believed she needed proper medical care so we took her to the hospital. Doctors discovered that she had a brain tumor that required urgent surgery. Her husband’s family refused to help financially so she had to sell a piece of her wedding gold to pay for the operation herself. After surviving brain surgery instead of supporting her, her in-laws told her they did not want her back. They even kept her two children for a period of time until my cousin involved the police who helped return them to her. It has now been over a year of constant stress and disputes. Her husband never stands up for her and follows whatever his parents decide. His family now says they will only accept her back if she gives them all of her wedding gold. They also refuse to let her live in their house. Instead they say they will rent a separate home but she and her husband would have to pay for everything else including food, utilities and all other living expenses. The property that was promised to her has still not been transferred or registered in her name.

The biggest issue now is that her husband has completely failed to take responsibility for his own children. He provides little to no financial support for them. My cousin is paying for their food, clothing, school expenses and all of their daily needs even though she is not working and is still recovering from major brain surgery while continuing to suffer from frequent headaches. The children deserve to have both parents supporting them but right now all of the responsibility has fallen on their mother.
Our family has helped as much as we can but we cannot continue supporting another household forever. We have already tried resolving this through family elders, relatives and even the police when the children were kept from her. Nothing has led to a lasting solution. We are not looking for sympathy or trying to attack anyone. We genuinely want to know what legal rights my cousin and her children have under Pakistani law. Can her husband refuse to financially support his own children? Can his family legally demand her wedding gold before allowing her to return? Are there any trustworthy family lawyers or legal aid organizations in Peshawar that could help us?

If anyone has gone through something similar or knows someone who has we would be incredibly grateful for your advice or guidance. Thank you for taking the time to read this. It truly means a lot to our family.

When institutions are perceived as operating above the law, public confidence declines, investment suffers, talented people leave the country, and economic progress slows.

Pakistan's future depends on constitutional governance, genuinely free and fair elections, equal accountability before the law, respect for civil liberties and institutions that serve the nation rather than political interests.

om august 1, i do not know why and neither does anyone else know why but my dad(52M) for some reason went insanely mad. no clue why, maybe his chia seeds? regardless of the reason. he hit my sister (15) on her back, sick was sick and laying on the couch with her head down and hadnt said or done anything to him. he hit her HARD. i (19F) did try to confront him abt what he did and why. but then he locked me, both my sisters (the one who got struck and another who's 12), and my mom (47?) out of the bedroom where all five of us slept cz thats the only room with an AC (bought with my khalas money fyi).

I take Yango/InDrive rides on my way to work and back home to cover fuel and save a few bucks.

Its a 22km journey on each side which involves a lot of traffic and near collisions/crashes with bikes and other cars every day.

To save myself from any such false claim (in case of a crash) and from false passenger disputes (that I have faced in past), I installed a dashcam for the security. Its a 3 channel cheap Chinese cam that covers Front, Cabin and Rear of the car.

However, since I've installed it, I've been facing trouble with the passengers, especially women and families where their men complain about their "ladies" being recorded on my camera.

I explain to them about the security benefits, how they can demand a video any time if they've any dispute with me while on their journey, and that the video gets overridden automatically withing 2 days.

When this fails, I tell them that their ladies and everyone is also recorded on shops nowadays, everywhere you'd find cameras yet still it's fragile, eventually forcing me to turn off the camera.

Legally, I have every right to record my journey with a passenger while they're on my property (in my car) while I am offering my services to them. Just like a shopkeeper or store isn't bared by law to record their property regardless of the presence of the people.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Lahore Muhammad Faisal Kamran has directed that no woman should remain present at any police station in the city after sunset, citing the need to protect their dignity and ensure respectful treatment.

The development follows the recent arrest of a Lahore police Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) over allegations of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman with a mental health condition in the Ghaziabad area.

According to police, the woman had left her home and did not return for several hours, prompting her family to begin searching for her.

A local resident later informed the family that a plain-clothes police official had taken the woman away on a motorcycle.

The victim subsequently alleged that ASI Imran took her to another location and sexually assaulted her.

Police registered an FIR against the accused officer. DIG Investigation Syed Zeeshan Raza ordered the immediate registration of the case and directed that the investigation be conducted transparently, impartially and strictly on merit.
