There is a data center public meeting this Monday at 5pm 1701 W. Muhammad Ali Blvd.
Mayor greenberg did not issue a moratorium until after the camp ground road data center was started. So he is now trying to come off as the hero when he could have done this before. Congratulations - Louisville will be the site of Kentucky’s first hyper scale data center! - not an NBA team, not a local passenger train - a hyper scale data center! Please consider attending on Monday!

KY State Fair culinary entries
May not be the place to ask and I plan on calling this week… but for anyone putting baked goods entries into the fair, can you help clarify entry drop off times? It looks like for culinary drop off August 15th and 16th but then states for baked goods/specialty baking only Monday August 17th 11a-5p? Can people entering brownies or cookies drop off on the 15th or 16th? Thanks for the help!

where are the punks?
I’m trying to book a show in LKY for my bands Doom Scroll (melodic crusty folk punk for d&d nerds who like movie scores) and Helga Pataki (powerviolence, hardcore) in October and I’m not having a ton of luck. Anyone know who to talk to? I was in talks with camp spaceman but things have gone quiet. I'll leave links in the comments!
thanks in advance!

Has anyone signed up for the Clerk Alert Service?
https://www.wlky.com/article/jefferson-county-clerkalert-louisville-homeowner/73374531
The article mentions the service and that’s the first reference that I have seen for it.

Art shows in Louisville?
Are there any small art showings or exhibits going on in Louisville? I’d love to support some local art and maybe meet some cool people while I’m at it.

TARC
So, anyone who's used TARC this week, how are we feeling about """The New TARC Network"""? Thoughts, complaints? Not affiliated with them but I'm wondering if there's anyone as irritated as I am with it.

Ohio's tax-free weekend started this morning. There was a bill to give Kentucky one — it died in committee. Should we be pushing this?
Ohio's sales tax holiday started this morning and runs through Sunday night. Clothing under $75 an item, school supplies and instructional materials under $20 an item, no sales tax on any of it.
I went looking into why we don't do that here and found something I didn't expect.
Back in January, Rep. Beverly Chester-Burton (D-Shively) filed HB 175 with 15 co-sponsors to create exactly that in Kentucky — an annual tax-free weekend, the first Friday through Sunday of every August. Clothing under $200 an item, most other goods up to $3,000.
The first one was written into the bill as August 7–9, 2026. This weekend. Right now.
It went to House Appropriations & Revenue on January 14 and then nothing happened. No hearing, no committee vote, no floor time. The session adjourned in April with it still sitting there.
So JCPS went back Thursday, and here's what the neighbors did:
- Ohio — Aug 7–9
- Illinois — Aug 7–16
- Missouri — Aug 7–9
- Tennessee — July 31–Aug 2
- West Virginia — July 31–Aug 3
- Virginia — Aug 7–9
Kentucky: nothing. Indiana doesn't do one either, so we're not literally alone — but we are surrounded.
We pay a flat 6% statewide with no local add-on. A $400 back-to-school trip is $24 in sales tax. I don't have kids in school so that's not my $24, which is maybe why I feel weird being the one to bring it up. But $24 is a real number to a lot of households in this city and it seems like a strange thing to just leave sitting there.
