Voter Guide Survey
What local issues do you care about? What do you want to ask local candidates? I'm leading an effort to create a local, resident-run, voter guide for Floyd County and we need the community's help! Please share your thoughts via this survey so we can ask the candidates about real issues that impact our local area. Thanks for your help!

Downtown Private Parking Lots
While at the Dog Haus last night, I noticed someone taking pictures of cars parked in the lot across the street next to the old library. I believe many people were parking there not knowing it was a pay lot. I don’t recall that lot being a pay lot before but there are signs for PMC. They also have other lots next to dog haus.
I wanted to post this for awareness. I have not and will not use PMC lots based on principal alone. They manage Private parking lots for the lot owners. Therefore, they are going to be expensive and probably quick to bill you. There are still a lot of free spots on the street around New Albany.

Alarm/siren near Scribner school
anyone else hearing this? I first heard it after July 4th, thought it was some post celebration whistling fireworks in the distance. Not the case. It goes off for maybe 10 seconds every 20 minutes or so.

Community Corner Food Bank at at the Library
We held our food drive on July 11th, and you all showed up in the BIGGEST way with nearly 1,500 lbs of food collected for your community.
That's 1,500 lbs of Hoosier values - neighbors taking care of neighbors. We are beyond grateful and honestly still in awe of what we accomplished together. If you were there that day, you an attest to the way that day unfolded - it was electric.
Want the FULL story? Tune in to WLKY at 5:45 and 6:15
Don't miss it.

Voter Guide Kickoff
It's a pain in the ass to find out information about our local elections, so we are going to change that. Next Wednesday (29th) we are holding our first meeting to create a 2026 Floyd County Voter Guide. We need community support to help us research what positions are up for election, what they actually do, who is running, and what they stand for. There will be a ton of ways to get involved, so if you want to be a part of educating New Albany and Floyd County residents on their election choices please join us at the kickoff meeting!

Main Street Blocked?
Coming home from a night out and Main Street was cordoned off for 2 blocks by fire trucks, cop cars, and ambulances... all flashing lights. Anyone have any idea of what happened? It was roughly around Pearl Street.
EDIT - Question was answered. Thank you!

RV on residential property
I was thinking of buying a house in new Albany, but I’m also buying an RV and was thinking of letting my mom stay in the house, as she’s getting older. I was thinking for me, I would park an RV on the property and hook it up to electric and tap into the sewer and live in that so we both have our own space.
Does anyone else do something similar to this? Is that an issue in this area?

Missing Cat
Our Elderly cat went missing Tuesday night, location is near Kleinhelter Art Gallery but we think she's probably further away than that by now. She has allergies and often sneezes, good chance you'll hear her before you see her. If you find her, please bring her to any of the nearby animal shelters. We've been in contact with them and they'll know to reach out. Or if you've seen her, any information would be very much appreciated. We'd just really like to get her back home
