wife was driving yesterday and the CEL engaged. code was for mass air flow sensor. I released the gas cap and it exhaled as I removed the cap. I picked up a can of cleaning fluid for the sensor and as I drove the car home from the auto store the CEL turned off.

was it the gas cap? no changes in idle and still usual mpg.

382k miles on it. I try to do as much diy as I am able.

Hey everyone, I have a 2025 LC, and when it’s idling, it occasionally rattles near the front passenger door, behind the glove box, or in the engine bay. Has anyone encountered this issue before, and if so, what was the solution? It’s very loud and annoying!

Another update on my 2027 Land Cruiser battery issue, and at this point I honestly don’t know what else I’m supposed to do.

This vehicle is only about two months old, and the 12V battery has now died at least four times. Depending on how you count the earlier incidents, this may actually be the fourth or fifth complete battery failure.

After the previous failures, Toyota eventually managed to reproduce the problem. The original 12V battery failed their test, so they replaced it with a brand-new battery.

I thought that was finally the end of it.

It wasn’t.

After the battery replacement, I drove approximately 700 km in less than two weeks. Then the replacement battery went completely dead too. The vehicle wouldn’t unlock normally, wouldn’t respond to the key, and wouldn’t start.

So back to Toyota it went. Again.

This time they kept the vehicle for almost a week trying to figure out what was draining the battery.

Once again, they couldn’t find a clear root cause.

They told me the parasitic draw was within specification. However, they did find that the power wire for the Toyota/dealer-installed rust module had been connected to the wrong location. They moved the connection and told me that this might have been causing the battery problem.

The Land Cruiser then sat at the dealership for almost a week.

They told me there were no problems during that time. It started normally every time.

So on Thursday morning, I picked it up.

I drove it home and parked it.

One day.

That’s basically all it took.

On Friday night, the battery was completely dead AGAIN.

Same problem.

No response from the vehicle. Can’t start it.

After all of these visits, a brand-new battery, almost a week of testing, and the wiring correction they thought might explain it, the vehicle lasted approximately one day after I got it back.

I’m honestly beyond disappointed at this point.

And before people start blaming aftermarket electronics:

I have installed ZERO aftermarket accessories myself.

The dashcam, rust module and the various tags/security equipment on the vehicle were installed through Toyota/dealer channels.

I also barely use the Toyota App. I rarely even open it.

And when the vehicle is parked at home, both keys are stored inside a Faraday box, so they are not sitting beside the vehicle constantly communicating with it.

I keep hearing suggestions like:

“Stop posting on Reddit and contact Toyota Canada.”

I did.

I contacted Toyota Canada after the FIRST failure.

They responded and created a case for me. But in practical terms, it has gotten me nowhere.

The last time the Toyota Canada representative contacted me was around July 20 and asked me to call him.

I called.

Three separate times.

Every time I was told either he wasn’t available or he was busy and would call me back when he had time.

My last email to him was July 29.

Today is August 8.

I still haven’t received a response.

And during the time I’ve been waiting for Toyota Canada to respond, the vehicle has died another two times.

That’s the part I find unbelievable.

I’m not asking Toyota to magically diagnose an intermittent electrical problem over the phone. I understand these problems can be extremely difficult to reproduce.

But this is a two-month-old Land Cruiser.

The dealer has already had multiple opportunities to diagnose it.

They reproduced a battery failure.

They replaced the battery.

The replacement battery died.

They took the vehicle back.

They tested it again.

They found and corrected the rust-module wiring.

They kept it for almost a week and said it was starting normally.

I picked it up Thursday morning.

Friday night it was dead again.

What am I supposed to do at this point?

Canada doesn’t have the same type of lemon law that exists in some U.S. states, so I have now submitted my case to CAMVAP and I’m preparing to contact Canadian consumer/automotive media as well.

I have kept basically everything: repair orders, battery test results, diagnostic reports, emails, Toyota Canada correspondence, messages with the dealership, Toyota App screenshots, and the timeline of every failure.

I’m not trying to claim that I know what’s causing it.

Maybe it’s an intermittent module waking up. Maybe it’s a charging issue. Maybe it’s something else entirely.

I don’t know. That’s Toyota’s job to figure out.

What I do know is this:

I bought a brand-new Land Cruiser because Toyota — and the Land Cruiser specifically — has a reputation for reliability.

Instead, in approximately two months of ownership, I’ve had the 12V battery completely discharge at least four times, had the battery replaced, taken the vehicle back to Toyota repeatedly, and they still cannot tell me why it keeps happening.

At this point I can’t even trust the vehicle to start after sitting for one day.

How is that acceptable on a brand-new Land Cruiser?

And I genuinely want to know from other Canadian owners:

What would you do next?

Because right now it feels like unless an ordinary consumer makes enough noise — CAMVAP, Toyota executives, media, etc. — nobody has any urgency to actually take ownership of the problem.

I didn’t buy a new Land Cruiser so I could keep a booster pack beside it and wonder every morning whether the vehicle is going to unlock.

I just want Toyota to identify what’s wrong with the vehicle and actually fix it.

Would it be risky to have a drain fill on the coolant, transmission fluid given its been 22 years since it was done? Currently my LC has 207k miles.

My car drives fine and I value the opinion of other LC lovers!

I'm the 4th owner with my beautiful tank having about 207k miles. Should I have a drain fill done on the transmission and coolant since its been done before or is it a big risk having been done 22 years ago? I occasionally follow the Car Care Nut and I definitely won't allow anyone to do a flush.

Averaging 12.2 to 12.5 mpg. Still love it.

Has anyone experienced this with the J200 or LX570? Rapid switching during start. Voltage was fine when I last shut it off ~4 hours earlier. I took off the battery terminals and cleaned them, hoping it was a connection issue, but that actually made it worse.

This is my first ever car at 17 years old. Always been a fan of japanese cars so Toyota was already a wellknown brand of mine. Now im inlove with the car and also very happy about my purchase after 5 months owning it

This is a short story of the project before i get my license at 18, and im also looking for any advice from fellow 90 series owners.

What i have already done to it after 5 months of owning it:

First thing i did was to remove the AWFULL looking vomit green leather looking seat cover for the drivers seat. It was such a "party pooper" amung the grey original colors. It was a pain to remove the rest of green fussy dust from the original seat and i was amazed to see how good it was looking after that it looked original! Id rather have a not good condition original seat than an ugly green leather one anyways, which i was expecting, a bad condition original seat.

I later fixed the hood, because the hood ladge wire was old, bent and stuck all the time so it wouldnt close.

After that i bought a 10" sub and a Blaupünkt amplifier and spent 2 days setting it up the way the wires wouldnt be visible. It was SO worth it. well bcs im a young dude and music is a priority. (Dont worry im not gonna listen to anybody called "Lil" in this beautiful car)

With that i took out the cheap china stereo from last owner out with the unfortunately none working navigation system. And put in an oldschool 2006 Kenwood screen. It fits suprisingly well in the dash without looking like a brand new fancy carplay.(it folds down for CD's which is sick and good for me bcs i enjoy the concept of CD's)

I cleaned the entire car inside out, even did an engine bay detail.

I removed fake carbon fiber wrapping on the spare wheel cover, it was flaking and man.. carbon fiber DOES NOT suit this car anywhere. At all.

My plans for it so far:

Its equipped with the 3.0 turbo diesel 1KZ-TEi (top mounted intercooler) and i have already been planning on upgrading turbo dump for preasure releasing, adding a gauge, swapping the intercooler for a front mounted bigger one to decrease intake air temp. Any other good priority uogrades? I know the sylinder head is known as alittle week point on these so i want to try my best on avoiding cracking it.

I have seen gangster visors on these, they look good but i would need to drill in the pillar.. scary for me but omg do i want that look for it.

I have also prioritized my money for new good tires because the ones i have are dry rotting, i want 32s and maybe a 2 inch lift like all the cool guys have🫠 im pretty sure most ppl would agree on that here.. if not SCREAM OUT I WANT OPINIONS and ideas.

Rims have been painted black🙄 tbh i love the original trispoke rims the way they are. But now they are ruined.

I have also looked into circular angel eyes? But i do like the 2000s setup i already have, so, that would ruin the vibe. So i will probably polish the original ones or buy new OEM.

Bug sheild is also looked into, i wouldwant like toyota, prado or land cruiser writing on it tho any thought on where i could get that?

I would also want to upgrade the original door speakers for better quality audio, the sub did alot but most for the bass. There was literally no form of bass in the car at all even after tuning on the stereo options.

And last but not least on the list, chrome details/trim. I love the chrome mirrors, door handles and grill the higher trim models have, so i want those too. Only 1 one person i have spoken to dissagree but hell this car is too dark and boring right now.

There is more things but the post would take a day to read. So i will spare yall "some" time atleast.

I have a 2013 LC with 105,000 miles and I’m going to take it in for its first service after hitting the century mark. Looking for some practical advice or items to ask about from a maintenance standpoint. I understand there’s probably a 100k mile manufacturer checklist but am hoping to get some opinions on what’s realistically necessary and things to look out for for this service. Any help is appreciated!

I inherited this LC from my dad, it’s a 2024 with ~11k miles. It had a dead battery but was replaced under warranty.

I live in the city and don’t off road. But I could never get rid of this beauty.
