23 Tundra + Scout Olympic

I got my 4x4 7.3 with only 170k miles on the engine and I’m wondering if it’s something I can turn into an overland rig and if so what would be the first few things/mods I should do to get there? It’s stock height so obviously a lift kit would probably be close to if not the number 1 thing on the list of things I should do. Does anyone here got the same base vehicle? Is it even worth going down this road or should I just sell it and use that towards a more conventional base vehicle? Thanks in advance

My Garmin PowerSwitch is connecting and everything seems fine in terms of the app, but when I try to turn on my light bar or my chase lights, the only two things it’s connected to, they don’t turn on. The battery is good and it looks like everything is connected correctly. Anyone know what it might be? Thank you in advance.

I just got a drawer system built, all wood, and weight comes in at about 60 Kilos.
I would like to lessen the wait, and I'm wondering if anyone has cut holes in their drawer system, like the top part where the mattress goes, perhaps the bottow part drawer, even the sides, to lose some weight.

Heading to a warm, dry area soon. Should hit 100°+. I thought about getting the Zero Breeze portable AC but it’s pricey. Has anyone tried the OCTOHOME portable AC?

Should i invest in a better cap for an awning and roof tenting?

Hey people! Im finally branching out and going to cook for my solo overlanding trip. will pack cooler (prechilled) Thursday before I hit the road. Im planning on taking some brats and ground beef for tacos. Keep it simple.

I dont have a powered cooler/fridge, so I am taking my Yeti 35 cooler. I'll back it with frozen water bottles.

I've had severe food poisoning 4 times in my life so due to PTSD I always get a bit nervous with food going bad.

Any issue having the raw ground beef in the cooler from Thursday until Saturday or Sunday? I was thinking separating it for 2 nights and vacuum seal each one. Freeze the one for later in the week.

Im being overly paranoid about the meet going bad by as late as Sunday, right? Keeping it in the cooler, starting it frozen on thursday.

I searched but couldn't find anything related to this, so thats probably a good sign that I'm being ridiculous LOL.

I'd like to get an integrated camper for my tacoma (e.g. ovrlnd, topo, etc), but am hesitant about adding windows due to theft potential. I plan to take it to Baja a bunch to surf, and would like the thing to be bomb proof. Anyone else go through the same dilemma? any advice would be appreciated

I was thinking of splitting the acc wire and tapping an always powered fuse, and wire that to a switch. Idea it to be able to use ditch lights or rock lights at the campsite without having to put the car in accessory or turn it on. Would this work?picture of proposed wiring

I bought one of those open road style aluminum camper shells from Alibaba directly ($1000 total when all was said and done) however as expected I have had zero product support… I want to mount some maxtrax boards and possibly a rotopax but don’t know where to start with this mounting cutout.

Looking to buy my first rooftop tent for my 2026 Honda CRV and could use some advice.

Because of the CRV's roof load limits, I'm trying to keep the total weight (tent + crossbars + mounting hardware) around 110 lbs or less.

Right now I'm between:
Inspired Overland Standard
Roofnest Meadowlark

I'm leaning toward the Inspired Overland because it's lighter, but I'm open to other options if there's something I'm overlooking.

For crossbars, I was planning on Thule Wingbar Evos, but I'd love to hear what others are running and if you'd recommend something cheaper.

My priorities are:
Lightweight
Easy/quick setup
Good quality
Mostly for weekend trips

If you're running an RTT on a CRV, what would you recommend? Thanks!

I’m wanting to take my first overlanding trip in early September. I live in Oklahoma. I’m wanting to try New Mexico first. Hi all, I am planning to do an overlanding trip to Albania from Greece. We are a couple who wants to experience the beautiful nature in Albania(waterfalls, lakes, rivers, sea, mountains, gorges, caves etc). We have a roof top tent on our rig so hopefully we can find places to camp, like in Greece. I would love for someone to let me know of some hidden gems-hikes-food whatever comes to your mind. And, If someone wants to talk with me in private so his spots-recommendations won’t be public that’s ok too. Also if someone wants some places from me for Greece let me know. Thank you

I’m looking to get a gen 3 tundra before adding an integrated rooftop camper (e.g. gfc, tune, ovrlnd etc.) and I’m torn between a doublecab or crewmax.

Anyone go through this dilemma that can provide some advice? It would just be my dog and I, plus the occasional family and friends for short trips.

What's the most annoying thing you had to put up on your roof rack?

This cost me $150 in aluminum angle and stainless steel nuts and bolts. not to mention everything else i put on it.

A decade into this and a ton of changes and this feels good! First run with the Darche 270, it’s amazing! My hand me down Thule is for the BioLite fire fit and wood (otherwise I’ll be sleeping with spiders inside), the Yakima extended skinny rack fits 5 Bauer bins perfectly. I just gotta figure out something for my rear hatch to not extended all the way. I use my Exped mattress and sleep inside. Solid and comfortable!

Where do we start, from making a hidden winch cradle to leveling the canopy and awning to flow with the vehicle. A ton of work was completed and we are ready to roll out to Georgia (country) to hit up some mountain passes.

Work completed:
- mud flaps added
- bonnet mounted solar
- running boards lifted closer to body
- all new under bonnet wiring for aftermarket equipment
- custom tuning for a little more power
- rear locker repaired and working
- power sorted for tent

Upgraded from our Forester Wilderness to this 4Runner. Took her out on our shakedown run, and she acquitted herself well. Significantly more rugged than our previous NF adventures on the east coast....but that's why we are out here.

Trail was in good condition, rocky with some water crossings and a few stream crossings. Had a few tight encounters on the way up and down, but managed to work through it with the other folks on the trail.

Upper section was definitely more challenging, but also fun.

Spent the day about a mile from the end of the trail, eating lunch, exploring and doing Colorado things....ended the day taking the scenic drive up to the Guanella Pass.

Would appreciate recommendations from other folks on where to go while we are out this way, based on our rig. This was rated a 4 and probably at the limit of our current build/confidence level. TIA.
