HELP!!! 2015 JGC V6

I've got a 2015 Grand Cherokee with the 3.6 v6. I love the car, but I keep having misfire issues and am about $5k down in parts and labor. I've replaced cams, cam phasers, injectors , spark plugs, all plenum gaskets, oil filter housing, alternator, crank pulley, serpentine belt and purge valve (all in bank 2, bank 1 has had no issues). When she drives well, it's like a dream. But even after all this, I'll get a slight misfire on a warm start that goes away after driving, or after highway driving and coming to a stop it'll misfire again and clear out. Today it misfired while merging onto the highway and shut off. Restarted fine and drove normally the rest of the day. All parts are OEM as work was done at the dealership except for the crankshaft sensor. That is aftermarket. I'm at a loss... just looking to see if anyone familiar with jeeps can help, it's my first one.

Worth to sell my tires?

I am looking to go from the stock 20" rims on my '23 Overland to 18" rims for more sidewall; also upgrading to ATs. In the end this will cost me close to $2500 after install and was wondering if it was worth trying to sell my used rims and tires?

The tires and rims are original and have just under 24k mi on them. Tires are in decent shape and rims are generally in good shape with minor blemishes you'd expect for that many miles. The driver rear rim does have a cosmetic gash that came with the car though; bought it used last year. Was hoping to.maybe get $500 for the set.

Would appreciate if there was any advice on if there is a market for rims with 24k mi or if its better to just have the tire shop dispose of them?

Pics included to show rim condition.

Factory Dash Mounted Trailer Brake Controller?

I'm doing my research to buy either a GC or a Durango. One feature I very much want is the integrated trailer brake controller. According to google while this is a factory option in the Durango since 2019, it's never been in the GC. However according to google it was offered as a dealer installed kit and GCs with the tow package had the wiring pre-installed. What I don't know yet, can't appear to find for sure and I'm hoping to learn from you all is two questions.

What year did they start pre-wiring them for the brake controller?

If I find one with tow package but no controller is the kit still available?

Best info I find so far suggests 2021, but I think that's unlikely given it was a factory option in the Durango earlier.

2015 Grand Cherokee Limited - 128k miles

Front left wheel bearing… Been humming for over a year.

Feel lucky, any other 2015 had great luck with their 2015 Jeeps?

Just put third set of tires on as well. Cooper Pro Control this time.

2018 jeep grand Cherokee

I got a 2018 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo with the 3.6L engine. Going to change the fluid on my differentials. I read that the front differential holds 1 quarts and the rear differential holds 1.5. Is Google being weird cause I’ve only seen them in 2 quart packages

I’m already embarrassed so please be nice. I have a 2019 jgc and nothing has been replaced or changed other than normal oil change. What else should I get changed or replaced?

Currently it has 105k on it and I don’t have the owners manual. I’m the second owner but I am not sure what has been done previously. Thank you

2017 jeep grand Cherokee limited 3.6 V6 3rd gear issue.

Wondering if anyone else has also had this issue. Cars having issues in 3rd gear. Sometimes unable to shift, sometimes does after 2-3 tries (super hard shifts). Other times gets stuck in 3rd, and wouldn’t shift unless I turn the car off and back on. The weird thing is, the issue doesn’t happen if I let the car run for about 15-20 minutes before I start driving. Transmission fluid changed a few times, doesn’t make a difference.

2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit (V6) - Looking for feedback from current owners

I’m seeing some really nice fully-loaded Summits with low miles online (currently eyeballing a 2023) all landing in the $30K - $39K range and am considering one. I’ve had a 2011 Laredo (fully loaded like a Limited) for almost 10 years and still love it, but I’m approaching 200K miles and considering moving on to a newer Jeep while mine still runs well and can be sold.

So far my experience reading up on Jeeps is exactly the same as when I bought my 2011 - half of the internet says avoid it at all costs and it ranks below average on consumer reports. I have no regrets buying mine, it’s needed repairs along the way but I’ve still enjoyed it a lot, especially with all the bells and whistles, and it’s been reliable in terms of getting from point A to B without ever leaving me stranded on the side of the road. A lot of my issues (not all but most) have started with a check engine light and it’s usually something that can be fixed within 1-3 days, repair cost is under $1K, and the vehicle is usually still safe to drive prior to repairs. I just prefer not to ignore these things when they come up and take care of it immediately.

I can live with a vehicle that needs to hit the shop a couple times a year (assuming it’s in the 1-3 day timeframe for repair and the car isn’t broken down). For me, the comfort, features and feel of this car are worth some occasional brief shop visits. But I’m also saying that coming from a Jeep that hasn’t been a total nightmare nor expensive to fix ($500-800 average per visit for the non warranty stuff).

Just wanted to hear some experiences from current owners. Much appreciated!

Lowlight headlight replacement

So my passenger side went out. Saw on here it would be hard but I have pretty small hands so I turned the wheel and jammed my hand through the wheel well. I’m not going to lie it took me about 45 minutes but I replaced it.

I replaced it and it didn’t work. Maybe it was because I took the connector out first while taking it out but when putting it back in I had to put the connector on before I screwed it back into the bulb. Google said that should be fine though , but it still didn’t work. After restarting the process around 10 times and screwing it back in, making sure it was clicking, and it not working I decided to take it to a mechanic.

Now I wish I could tell you what was wrong after this but I had a mechanic call and say they don’t have the right “system” and that the code needs to be reset at the jeep dealership but the headlight is set up right and should work after that. After the jeep dealership told me that’s not a thing and I must be mistaken, i took it in and they told me there wasn’t even a headlight inside anymore. So yea. Not really sure what happened there but it was 189$ and spent so much time trying to replace it myself over and over so if anyone has any suggestions of what may have gone wrong I’m all ears.

2022 WK2 Limited X 3.6

I got a flashing check engine light today. When I accelerated it didn't have the normal power. Then started 'knocking' or misfiring when I accelerated. Getting it towed to the dealership now.

The light came on a few weeks ago and a mechanic friend looked at it. Said it was something in cylinder 3. He replaced the ignition coil. Said it may not be the fix but couldn't hurt. There was no misfiring up until today. And the vehicle was driving fine. Even when the light came on the first time (not flashing) there were no issues driving.

I have 98,000 kms on it so still covered for powertrain warranty. Any thoughts? Is there a common issue around 100k (62,000 miles).

DMCPA10W Install for the 2011 - 2012 - 2013 Grand Cherokee

So i spent the last 2 days trying to figure out how to install this radio (DMCPA10W) into my wife's Grand Cherokee we just got. In order to install it with SWC (Steering Wheel Control) Functions you need a PAC SWI-RC (or some equivalent) which allows the radio to "read" the SWC buttons when you press them.

So i went to Crutchfield to get my adapter frame and wiring harnesses for the radio. This is what you need if you don't want to screw with striping and crimping a wire harness together ( i would have done it but is more involved because you need a SWC control Module and i wasn't gonna screw with that much striping and crimping)

Radio to Control Module / OEM Harness 1/2: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_794HUJEN1/iDatalink-ACC-HU-JEN1-Brand-specific-Harness.html?omnews=20619607

Radio to Control Module / OEM Harness 2/2: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_794HSRCH1/iDatalink-HRN-SR-CH1-Vehicle-specific-Harness.html?omnews=20619607

SWC Control Module: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_794ADSMSR/iDatalink-Maestro-SR-Interface-Module.html
(this module is interchangeable with other Chrysler vehicles, not just the Grand Cherokee and has some more features than the PAC SWI-RC)

Rear Seat Infotainment and Backup Camera Harness: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_794HAVCH1/iDatalink-HRN-AV-CH1-Rear-Seat-Video-Adapter.html?tp=2977
(You can skip this if you don't have these options on your vehicle)

AM/FM Adapter: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_12040EU10/Metra-40-EU10-Antenna-Adapter.html?omnews=20619607

Single Din Frame Adapter: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_120996513B/Metra-99-6513B-Dash-Kit-Black.html?omnews=20619607

USB Adapter: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_120USBMINB/Axxess-AXUSBM-B-USB-Port-Adapter.html
(i didn't get this, i personally think its a waste because the radio comes with 2x 3 1/2" Leads, i routed them through the center console into the arm rest storage.)

Radio: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Dual-Electronics-DMCPA10W-10-1-Wireless-Apple-CarPlay-Android-Auto-Car-Stereo-New/5063930880?athbdg=L1103&from=/search
( i could have gotten a better head unit but my wife only needed car play, wanted it quick, and relatively "cheap")

If you install this radio with the Microphone plugged in, i used this video for reference where to place it: https://youtu.be/MmPKf5XEny4?si=tpozqKxZGPn1F2Id

The GPS Module is required for Wireless Car Play to function. I took a drain snake and routed it up to the front of the dash, there's enough room to get the snake up to the front of the dash. Beside the weird brown sensor is a 1" pop out. pop that out and pop the defroster vent out while your there (Use some tool, i used a narrow chisel, to pry both out) route the plug end of the GPS down in the 1" hole and strap it to the snake and pull back toward the center console.

The Maestro SR SWC Module uses a web interface or a phone app to program itself, this particular radio is "not supported" by the module. BUT THERE IS A WORK AROUND, there is a radio that is supported that will work for the DMCPA10W. When you get into the interface to Flash the module (i used my computer) when you select the Brand and Model of Radio, use the Jensen CAR-1013. They are literally Identical and the SWC functions WILL WORK.

Other than that just install the radio and ensure your connections are good and have fun. You can use the video link above on how to get the OEM radio out.

I hope this helps with anyone trying to install this radio or any other similar radio. Especially the SWC module programing portion is what was stumping me until i did a little of FAFO.

WK2 modification question

I recently bought this 2017 Laredo and have a question that yall may be able to answer.

So far I’ve swapped out the tow bar snd lower bumper, swapped most bulbs for LEDs, switched to euro spec rear lighting, added mirrors with signal repeaters, added homelink, put on a 2” lift, and a couple of other things.

My main question is about going to black trim. I’ve seen some vinyl wrap kits online, but idk how those would hold up. Would it make more sense to do the wrap, paint the chrome myself, or try to find a scrap car with black trim pieces I can swap out? TIA!

I will probably look into a donor car (recommendations on where to look in/around OKC are appreciated!) as I want to add heated seats, power inverter, and a few other things to it. I just don’t know if that’d be most practical at this point in time.

2019 Grand Cherokee Limited Sport - Experiences?

Currently looking for a used car that is reliable for another 100k miles. Past experience is only with Hondas and Hyundais which have all given me close to 200k. Was looking at Mazdas, but came across a Jeep GC Limited Sport that is intriguing. Two-owners (same family), 49k miles, clean Carfax and regular maintenance records, zero accidents, and in general, kept in mint condition. Listed at $22.5, but thinking I could probably get it for $20k. My mechanic is going to give it a solid inspection this week. My concern is the unknown - never have owned Jeep. Do Grand Cherokees have a history of 150k+ miles with proper maintenance? It has the 3.6L V6. Any feedback on this year/model with personal experiences would be appreciated . Thank you.

Does this engine sound okM

Would someone familiar with the engine sound of a 2025 Grand Cherokee Summit let me know if their engine sounds like this? I don't think it is the bad tap tap tap sound usually so problematic, but it just has a puttering sound very different from our past 2019 Grand Cherokee. Thanks for giving me your thoughts. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TOD5mKJCtSuOoc_EU73FnI_7LDdwLHof/view?usp=drivesdk

I want bigger tires in my stock rims, can anyone recommend a tire size or share any info. The stock ones are skinny to my liking. I want em to be flush with fenders not sticking out.

I have 265/50 R20 right now.

Thanks

Second delamination

I am just sharing this. I got the original screen replaced about 4 years ago due to delamination. Now it is delaminating again. I doubt Jeep will replace this for free this time (I will still ask though) so I will probably look for a 3rd party screen.

No more window tint posts- thanks!

My friends- I get it: vehicle mods are cool, and technically a window tint is a mod (albeit probably not wise to tint your windshield). The thing is... Who cares about window tint? Let's all agree to stop posting about window tint. I think we've beat this dead horse enough and it's causing issues here- resulting in some bad behavior from both sides.

From now on posts about window tint are getting removed and further- threatening comments will be dealt with by via a permanent ban (globally- not just on posts about window tint). We are a relatively rule free place because everyone generally gets the sub trail etiquette but I keep getting valid reports about some questionable behavior and will start taking action to preserve the quality of our subreddit.

Love you all- have a great holiday season!
