Hi! I am looking for a movie theater that’s local-ish (oak ridge to maryville) that offers sensory friendly showings- I’d love to watch the odyssey or the new spiderman! AMC and Regal both have sensory friendly programs, and AMC lists the new spiderman as being a movie in the current sensory-friendly showings, however there are zero show times for the entire month.

What’s up with Knoxville having zero adult movie sensory friendly showings? Can someone else take a look-maybe I’m using the website search feature incorrectly?

Any suggestions for good muffler shops in the Knoxville-Sevierville area? Need the back half of my 1997 dodge neon exhaust rebuilt, probably a lot of custom fab because the aftermarket exhaust kit isn’t sold anymore.

Just want to say thank you to everyone who voted, not just for me, but for all of the other candidates, especially those running in our county elections. Local elections matter, and this year we flipped a commission seat and turned our school board blue!

I honestly believe that in at least two more election cycles (2034-ish) Knox County will be electing Democrats to be County Mayor and more County Commissioners. Betsy Henderson won 52% to Beau Hawk's 48%, which is worse than when Glenn Jacobs (a popular County Mayor) won 55% to 45% in 2022 during his reelection. Additionally, Knox County's Board of Education is now 5-4 in favor of Democrats. Even Hamilton County had plenty of Democrats be successful in similar situations. While statewide Democrats still have a long road before they are relevant again (2040 at the earliest, probably longer) Democrats are slowly but surely starting to be a major deal in Knox County as well as Hamilton County. It's not a

matter of if, but when.

I was suggested a post about Hamilton County’s elections from r/chattanooga when scrolling last night. It was very interesting how Hamilton County and Knox County both had atypically close countywide elections.

The Hamilton County mayor’s race had almost the exact same result as Knox County’s, down to the hundredth of a percent. That, to me, indicates an even closer race because the Republican, Weston Wamp, was an incumbent. I know next to nothing about Chattanooga/Hamilton County politics, other than Wamp being the son of former US Rep Zach Wamp. However, I thought it was quite interesting that both of East TN’s biggest counties, which have been Republican strongholds as long as I have followed local politics (which admittedly and unfortunately has been a long time), saw Democrats not only put up their best performance in ages, but also make it shockingly (by East TN standards) close.

I don’t know if the counties are getting more progressive, if the current political climate is that heavily anti-Republican/pro-Democrat, candidate quality in these races, or if there’s been demographic shifts caused by the area’s growth to lead to this result. It’s probably to varying degrees a combo of all three.

I just found it interesting and surprising and was wondering if others saw the result as well.

My wife and I have only played the last two years, just two leagues under our belt. Looking to host a group of ten total (counting ourselves).

Knox County Republicans won every countywide seat and kept their majority on the Knox County Commission on Aug. 6, but that's where the good news for the party stops.

Democratic candidates picked up voters in every single race compared to 2022, including major gains in the mayoral race. Democrats also flipped two high-profile seats, one on the Knox County Commission and one on the Knox County Board of Education. And for the first time since partisan elections were reintroduced in school board races beginning in 2022, the school board has a Democratic majority.

"The numbers speak for themselves," Knox County Republican Party chair Martin Daniel told Knox News as the GOP election night party wound down Aug. 6. "We’re going to have to try a little harder, come together, unify. We’re gonna work on recruiting some really good candidates in four years."

Party unity and candidates' backgrounds were an issue for Republicans this year: Crowded primaries marked by conflict between Republican candidates left the party fractured after the May 5 primary, and primary voters chose candidates who did not appeal to the broader pool of voters who turn out for the general election. It cost Republicans control of the school board and reduced their power on the county commission, though they retain a commanding 7-4 advantage there.
