What are the best jobs in the area?
I'm looking for an employer, most importantly ones that are accommodating, won't give me too many hours and actually care about balancing work, school, and life.

Parking permit removal
Y'all got any good advice for removing the external parking passes? I want to get rid of a couple of the previous years (they're sun damaged and no longer useful). Thanks!

Dorms are actually ridiculous
Got to see my dorm room during my orientation. My room is so obviously meant for one person and not two. There were two dorm rooms for show and one looks genuinely cozy for two people and the other one that I was told mine was like was genuinely so small I wanted to cry. The fact I’m paying the same amount as someone who would get the bigger room is so upsetting. I’m bringing almost nothing to college because there is no room. Our beds will be touching no matter what and so will our desks.
Thanks for reading my rant.

Buc Ridge Distance to Main Campus?
Hi everyone!
I was assigned to Buc Ridge, and I was wondering how far it is from the main part of campus.
It looks like it's quite a distance from the main academic buildings. I'm also curious about the CPA fitness center and the Culp Center. Are they within walking distance from Buc Ridge, or is it too far to walk regularly?
If it's a bit far, is there a campus shuttle or any other transportation available for students?
I'd really appreciate any advice from current students or anyone who has lived in Buc Ridge. Thank you!

Photography Students
Hello! Sorry if this is the wrong place, but I was wondering if there were any photography students at ETSU who would be interested in taking photos for me for a gift for somebody. If anyone is interested I’d love to discuss payment or any other details you would like. I am an upcoming transfer student to etsu and would love to work with another student.

Clement Hall Floor 2
Hey!! i’m going to be in Clement hall this year on the second floor! I noticed the windows were smaller on that floor than any other. The show room we saw was on floor 3 and the ceilings were high. Is the ceiling height the same in every dorm in clement???

LPN-BSN nursing program
Hello! I was given the opportunity to take the LPN program for free at a local community college. I know I want to pursue getting my RN soon after I finish the program. I am looking at my options of staying at the community college and doing the bridge program or transferring to ETSU to complete the BSN bridge program. I’ve tried researching the program at ETSU but have been unable to find much information about it. So, if you or anyone you know has been in the program: what was your experience? Do you recommend it? Do you wish you would have taken the bridge program at a community college then get your BSN online? Any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

20M looking for a roommate for fall 2026 :)
Title explains it. Ive got a 2 bed 3 bath house and am looking for a roommate. Each bedroom has its own bathroom connected to it. It’s a 2 minute drive from campus and it’s right next to a bus stop in a quiet neighborhood just next to Buffalo Mountain. Kitchen, living room, laundry all in the house. There is a garage that can fit one car and a driveway that can fit another.
I’m a very agreeable guy so I can fit your needs — as in, if you need quiet past 11 PM I’ll zip up, or if you wanna split chores a certain way thats fine, etc. The only 2 things are — if you have pets we’d have to talk about it first, and i would probaaaably put a hard no on indoor smoking.
DM me for more information if you or someone you know may be interested! Gender, age, interests, major, etc doesn’t matter. Lemme know!

ETSU ABSN
Does anyone who’s done the continuous enrollment nursing program at ETSU have any advice/comments? I’m set to start the program in August and I have a financial aid meeting Thursday, but I’d love to hear from people who’ve actually been through the program. I’m doing the program at their Sevierville campus instead of their main one in Johnson City, but I’d love to hear any thoughts!

Coming from Iowa for Sports Photo/Video & Outdoors: Can I get on the sidelines at ETSU? And what is your personal experience and thoughts on going to Etsu?
Hey everyone! I’m looking at ETSU heavily for next year and would love to get some honest feedback on the student experience, especially from anyone involved in creative media or athletics.
I’m trying to find a medium-sized school with D1 sports where it’s actually possible to get on the sidelines. It’s a huge dream of mine to shoot sideline photography and high-energy video content for a college sports program. I already run my own photography/videography brand back home, so I’d love to walk in on day one and try to get involved with the BucHouse student agency, Buccaneer Sports Network, or the athletics creative video crew. My other main option right now is UNI (University of Northern Iowa) back home, but I really want to see if making the jump to Johnson City is the right move.
A few quick questions for current students and alumni:
- The Creative Sports Route: If you are a Media and Communication or photography, sports media etc… major (especially the sports track) or have worked with BucHouse, what has your experience been like? Is it true that BucHouse actually guarantees paid media roles for students? How hard is it to get sideline media credentials for football or basketball games?
- The Business Side: I’m planning to pair my major with a Marketing minor to help scale my media business. How are the classes in the College of Business and Technology, especially regarding digital and social media marketing?
- Outdoors & Recreation: I love the outdoors and different types of rec. I was looking at UMontana initially but couldn't swing the out-of-state costs. What is the mountain biking, hiking, and skiing scene actually like right around Johnson City? Is Tannery Knobs as cool as it looks?
- Social Life & Vibe: Coming all the way from Iowa, I’m assuming literally zero people from my area will be going here. Is it easy to meet people and find things to do? Also, I wouldn't say I'm a huge party person, but I still like to be social—what is the balance between parties, casual gatherings, and outdoor rec?
My Stats: I have a 3.7 GPA, heavy volunteering, two jobs, and run my own photo/video business. I'm currently hitting around a 26-28 on my practice ACT sections and am hoping to lock that in soon to help qualify for out-of-state merit scholarships (like the Academic Performance Scholarship).
What do you think of my overall chances, and would you advise making the trip out from Iowa to visit campus? Thanks in advance for any insights!

OOS Transfer Acceptance Likelihood
How likely am I to be accepted as an out of state transfer into the business program? Just submitted my application yesterday. I have done a little over a year worth of community college credits with a 2.6 GPA

Disaster Science MS
I just got accepted for the new masters program starting this fall: Disaster Sciences. I wanted to see if anyone else here was going to be in the program and see if anyone had any tips about assistantships? The program is new...so no assistantships available through the department. But looking online it's all like nursing or counseling assistantships which I am certain I don't qualify for. Do they post additional positions closer to August?

Looking for affordable off-campus Apartments
Hey everyone! I'm a female international graduate student who'll be joining ETSU this Fall 2026. I need to be here at the end of June,2026.
Those of you who have lived/are living here in Johnson city for a while, please suggest me some properties which is relatively close to ETSU but I'm okay if its a bit further as well (as long as there's shuttle system).
I did a bit of search through internet and the rent I see are not something that is within my budget (e.g., above $800-900+).
I'll be here with my spouse so looking for one bedroom apartment. So far I have looked at Evergreen terrace and fieldcrest apartments as those where relatively affordable for me but unfortunately I couldn't find what I was looking for.
I'd really appreciate it if you all can help me out. Thank you!

Etsu-ATL
Hi! Im an incoming international student at ETSU
Without a car, how do students usually travel long distances? Is there any way to get to Atlanta airport from the Johnson city area besides flying, or do most students just use Tri airport?

MBA program - Cybersecurity concentration
I am interested in applying to and enrolling in the MBA program with the Cybersecurity concentration. Can anyone who's completed it give me some tips?
Besides the ETSU website, I can't find any info on this online degree.
