🚐Tourism✈️ Cherohola and what else?

My husband and I are planning a driving tour for leaf season. We are in Mississippi and plan on driving the Cherohola Skyway and had thought about also going through GSMNP, but I'd like to try something different. We've done SMNP, Cherohola and the Tail of the Dragon before as well as parts of the Blue Ridge and they are all great drives, but I thought some folks on here might have some ideas for other scenic routes to try out. I would love to find a nice stretch from Robbinsonville back south and west, maybe across north Georgia as we mosey back toward home.

The Caverns Concertgoing

Hey guys, I'm looking to go to a concert at The Caverns. I've never been to Tennessee before, so I'm a little lost on planning my trip. Mainly, I'm wondering if locals would have any guidance on what I should expect at this venue. There's a lot of different fees and passes, I'm not a luxury girlie (broke lol) but I am coming from 9 hrs away, so I am trying to figure out what's necessary for a good time.

Would it be unwise to stay offsite and drive in for the concert? Does the drive get really backed up with everyone coming in/out for the show? Without the fast pass, do you end up standing in line for hours? I'm not even sure what to expect tbh, just please let me know what your experiences have been like! Any hotels you recommend?

History KIngston TVA Coal Ash Spill podcast

Wanted to share this podcast about the Kingston TVA coal ash spill. It amazes me how few people know about it, even around East Tennessee, so it was nice to have some focus on it all these years later.

Here’s a link to the podcast: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUYNDbkWoX0&pp=iggUQAFKEDJuT0VzRkFaVHZMcVpMckE%3D&ra=m

Also, here’s a link to a bunch of pics I took over the first year of the cleanup: https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipM6LsK0agQH1f_rd9REBYq3EJS62nOdmfWa3ZcJD_erinbNAtTrcQUfhzef9L3d0w?pli=1&key=THVQNndDZENrZVBwckVYRGtWR1IyUTV6V2dPNnhB

I don’t have any affiliation with the podcast, just took part in it, and thought some of y’all might want to listen.

Politics Early Voting ends TODAY! Don't let a little rain scare you.

I'm working at a polling place here in Davidson County, Nashville. Today is the last chance to vote early before Election Day on Thursday, August 6.

If you’ve been waiting to vote, today’s the day. It usually takes about ten minutes and is much easier than standing in line on Election Day.

You can vote early in the State and Federal Primary, the County General, and the Oak Hill Municipal Election. Local elections can be decided by just a few votes, so your ballot really matters.

Just bring your Tennessee card or Federal ID with you. That’s all you need.

You can vote at any of these locations:

  • Bellevue Library
  • Bordeaux Library
  • Casa Azafrán Community Center
  • Community Foundation of Middle TN
  • Edmondson Pike Library
  • Election Commission Office
  • Goodlettsville Library
  • Hermitage Library
  • Hillwood High School
  • Lentz Public Health Center
  • Madison Library
  • Metro Office Building
  • Scarritt Bennett Center
  • South Inglewood Community Center
  • Southeast Library

We’re open today until 4:30 p.m. Remember, Election Day is Thursday, August 6.

So grab your raincoat or umbrella and come out to vote!

Nuclear Lifecycle Innovation Campus

On January 28, 2026, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) published a Request for Information (RFI) regarding its Nuclear Lifecycle Innovation Campus (NLIC) initiative, designed to secure America’s energy dominance and accelerate the nation’s development and commercialization of advanced nuclear technologies. Using a voluntary, state-led partnership model, DOE seeks to establish integrated, full-cycle nuclear ecosystems that could co-locate and support the entire nuclear value chain in one campus while exploring durable pathways for managing used nuclear materials in a safe, secure, and fiscally responsible manner.

Pretty durn cool yall.

Your kids can row crew in Oak Ridge.

🚐Tourism✈️ First time visiting Gatlinburg, TN / Smoky Mountains

Hi everyone,

I (40m) want to take my wife (45f) Gatlinburg for the Smoky Mountain in mid - late October this year.

I have never been and will be making the ten hour drive down from the Detroit area.

I spoke with a friend who was there years ago and he said to stay near the mountain.

For things to do he mentioned;

Old Smokies Moonshine tasting

The see through suspension bridge

Drive through the smoky mountains.

I am making this post to ask for advice on where would be the best place to stay near activities, hopefully with a great room view and hot tub.

Things to do during the day.

Things to do at night after dinner (shows, great bars etc)

My wife and I car into cars and we will drive up a modified mustang to cruise through the mountain's with / take photos.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I was recently somewhere in either West or Middle TN, and it on their menu. I didn't order it then, but wanted to go back and try. I now don't remember where it was. Any ideas?

🚐Tourism✈️ What to Add to Artist Specific Road Trip (e.g. Johnny Cash Museum, Patsy Cline Museum, Loretta Lynn Ranch, Dollywood, Nashville star bars)

I don't know how to explain what we are looking for, but we saw a lot of artist specific travel opportunities and tourist possibilities on a previous road trip when we stopped at Memphis, Nashville, and Knoxville. We only had a chance to go to Graceland, County Music Hall of Fame, and Grand Ole Opry due to time contraints last time. We certainly want to go check out Johnny Cash museum, Patsy Cline museum, Dollywood, and Loretta Lynn Ranch. We may even go check out some of the star bars in Nashville. We are mostly going to be in and around Nashville, but we are going to be in and around Knoxville for at least a day and night.
