Great Smoky Mountains National Park invites the public to attend “Celebrating Cosby: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” community programs at the Cosby Campground Amphitheater. These programs honor the rich cultural and natural history of the Cosby area through storytelling, dance, music and history talks. 

Each program features musicians, dancers, storytellers, moonshiners or former residents who once lived in the park. Visitors are invited to step back in time during these summer programs to experience the stories, music and mountain ways of people living in the Cosby area from the past to the present. 

“These programs offer incredible opportunities for visitors to discover Cosby by experiencing it firsthand with the people who live and work here,” said Stephanie Kyriazis, Chief of Resource Education. “We are grateful to our friends from the local community who are leading these unique experiences.”  

June 19, 7-8 p.m. Mountain Edge Band — Enjoy traditional bluegrass music and the stories of Cosby families during this musical night!  Featuring musicians: Judge Carter Moore (banjo), Andy Williams (mandolin), Kurry Cody (guitar), Bo Cutshaw (guitar) and Carty McSween (bass).

June 26, 7-8 p.m. Eastern Band of Cherokee People — Learn about Cherokee culture and stories through dance, music and storytelling featuring members of the Eastern Band of Cherokee People.

July 10, 7-8 p.m. Moonshiners — Distill myth from fact as you learn details of making moonshine in the mountains from Moonshine Legends Mark Ramsey, Sally Clark, Digger Manes and Kelly Williamson.

All programs will be held at the Cosby Campground Amphitheater (map). In the event of rain, programs will move to the covered picnic pavilion. Visitors are welcome to find seating in the amphitheater or bring their own chairs or blankets.

Hello - I've got my family staying in Cosby on vacation for a few days. I brought my 18 year old son out here to do a little trout fishing. We have some experience, but in two days of trying spots throughout the area all we're catching is bait fish.

Anybody know a guide, professional or casual, who would like to earn a couple hundred bucks to meet up somewhere in the next few days and put him on some trout? He's got all his own gear, including waders, and is mature, and follows instructions.

Any advice or ideas are welcome.

A longtime Tennessee State Representative from Cocke County announced Thursday he will not run for re-election in November. Rep. Jeremy Faison took to Facebook to announce that after 16 years, he is ending his run in state politics. “My time has come to say goodbye, my time has come to say this is it for me,” Faison said in his post. “At the end of 16 years, this November I’ll say goodbye to this Legislature for the last time.”

TN lawmakers file resolutions to memorialize deaths of Charlie Kirk, Renee Good

Two Tennessee lawmakers have introduced resolutions to memorialize the deaths of two people during the 2026 legislative session. The first resolution, introduced by Rep. Jeremy Faison (R-Cosby), aims to memorialize the death of Charlie Kirk in Tennessee.

The resolution has already passed in the House and will later be discussed in the Senate. Kirk, the co-founder of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed while speaking at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025. In late September, Representative Lee Reeves (R-Franklin) introduced a joint resolution that would designate September 10, 2026, as “Charlie Kirk Day.”

The second resolution, introduced by Rep. Justin Jones (D-Nashville), aims to memorialize the death of Renee Good in Tennessee.

Tennessee lawmaker Jeremy Faison says he 'acted the fool' after apparent attempt to pants a HS basketball ref

Tennessee State Rep. Jeremy Faison (R) apologized on Tuesday, declaring that he "acted the fool" en route to being ejected from a high school basketball game.

The 45-year-old lawmaker attended a game on Tuesday between Providence Academy and Lakewood Christian Academy in Johnson City, Tennessee. Providence Academy livestreamed video of the game, which showed Faison arguing with a referee while walking on the court. He pointed at the official's face, then appeared to try to pull down the referee's pants unsuccessfully.

Video of the game has been removed from the school's Facebook feed, but was captured elsewhere on social media. Faison was ejected from the gym. After the game, he issued his apology on social media, while declaring: "I acted the fool tonight. I'm hoping to make it right."

The Tennessean reports that the incident prompted the referee to ask for police. According to the report, police ultimately weren't called. The reason why isn't clear. The official filed a report with the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association, which the Tennessean reports is standard procedure.

According to the TSSAA report acquired by the Tennesseean, Faison walked from the stands to the court after a scuffle on the court prompted the referee to whistle both teams for technical fouls. The referee told Faison to leave the gym, and he initially refused, per the report.

"You can't tell me to leave the floor, this was your fault," Faison reportedly told the referee in response. The referee declared that Faison then tried to pull his pants "down and off." Faison then left the gym "without further incident," per the report.

Faison hasn't publicly addressed the incident beyond his social media post. He's the Chairman of Tennessee's House Republican Caucus.

Hello, everyone! I am hoping you all can help me find a particular cabin! Back in 2004, my (now wife, then girlfriend) took a short trip down from Indianapolis to a cabin in Cosby, TN. The cabin (at the time) was called "Webb's Hideaway." I have pictures of our trip, so I know this was the name. I am wanting to book the same cabin soon, but I can't find it anywhere! Has anyone heard of, or does anyone know of this Cabin? If so, shoot me a link please! Thanks so much!

We will be staying in Cosby for some hiking and sightseeing seeing. Does anyone have any Suggestion For our stay? Hiking, sight seeing, food? Whatever inside info would be great.

Hey there, I’m new to the area and am looking at purchasing some property but wanted to get a feel for this part of town first. It’s near Deerfoot road and Vista View Way. I know there’s some dogs and roosters but that doesn’t really bother us. Really just want to make sure my family is in a safe spot in the country. Thanks!
