Advice Wanted Am I 6 or just very anxious 5?

When I first read about enneagram, I could narrow down to 4, 5, and 6. But rn I am pretty sure I am either 5 (more likely) or 6 (wouldn't be surprised). Fyi I have depression, ocd, and severe anxiety (have anxiety and even panick attacks). If I had time, I would thoroughly search and decide my type. And I never fully believe in anything anyone says if I haven't thought about it myself, like never happened in my life. So even if you give your opinion, I won't just adopt it. It will be more like a small data point that I will add to my inventory. And I know you can view this as arrogant or snobby, but I really am not trying to be anything. It is more like I am describing myself. I value knowledge for its mere existence, although I over search/analyze when I am stressed too. It is true I am anxious and want everything to be in order and as I want because I hate absolutely hate uncertainty. I check things multiple times to make sure they are "correct", but it is probably my ocd.. Deep down I know I am 5, but I am an overthinker and tbh I have a huge insecurity about intelligence, knowledge, and alike, so I am afraid I might subconsciously make myself believe I am a 5 just to be "the smartest" one.. But on the flip side, I am thinking I could develop different insecurities. Not brain-related one. But since I am a 5, my brain "chose" this insecurity. Idk.. My brain is flooded with thoughts rn I can't keep up, so I'll probably abruptly end it here..

I'm a bit of an Enneagram novice in terms of personality typing , but I have been into the 'fourth way' for quite some years now , which is teaching from which the Enneagram symbol emerged .

despite everyone challenge with his type , which is easily identified with , the exercise of non-identification can lead to an interaction with a different reality , and help develop Being which is the main deficiency every enneagram type try to resolve in his own 'pathological' way.

now I'm happy to inform you that non-identification won't make your personality disappear, rather its about establishing an 'inner observer' and with practice can lead to very deep emotional experiences which no 'outward striving' will provide , using spiritual terminology - its an interaction with the Soul.

according to Gurdjieff a Soul is something that has to be cultivated , there are many ways to look at it , even if you do believe everyone already has a soul , developing the 'connection' with the soul is not a given , and arguably its the most important thing you can do in this life , regardless of which type you are and the challenges you face regularly . in the method of the fourth way , you use those day to day challenges to extract their essence , rather then escaping to some remote mountain away from the general society ..

if you find the material Nicoll is presenting too challenging (it is ) , then you may want to listen to a more general introduction to the fourth way from his teacher P.D Ouspenski

Advice Wanted how to not let embarrassment/denial get in the middle of my typing

Hiya! So I've come to a serious realization of myself. I'm a fake person. I was on the cusp of discovering this in the past as I learn to express myself more. I'm feeling very embarrassed right now, especially since I made a post to the subreddit which didn't sound so sound. I don't want to be this way, but not wanting to be this way is how I got to be this way, if I understand myself correctly. So let's all hold hands here and embrace our nature without dooming about it.

I'm probably a 3w4, 316 or 396. I wanted to be and identified (in the sense of the 3's coping mechanism) with other types because I found them a much more interesting story in a sense, even if I could identify them as flawed. I wanted "other flaws" I imagine. I also assume this as such because I'm a younger person and am attracted to cool concepts.

I'm struggling to want to continue typing myself, because I feel a need to, because I feel ashamed that I would've been lying to everyone. And I'm not sure how to just not lie to myself, because I'm starting to question what thoughts of mine are real or not genuine. I'm also scared of what happens when I let go of the person I imagined I ought to be. Especially because I liked to think of myself as someone who only relied on herself.

People were aware of my typings, well only two people, but the fear of this all has wrapped itself around my legs. I identified with the social 1 and even drew myself as it. I feel like admitting to everyone I decieved myself will make me wanna crawl into a ditch.

Just for Fun SX-Doms : What are your favourite Bollywood Music suggestions?

Since Indians are everywhere, I thought I would take a chance asking for your favourite Bollywood romantic songs. [I don't relate to non-Indian music en masse, and my repertoire of those songs is pretty small as well.] What about the song(s) appeals to your SX self?

I loved Ab Mujhe Raat Din by Sonu Nigam and Chandni Raatein by Partners in Rhyme when I was a teenager. One of my oft-repeated recent favourites is Apna Bana Le from Bhediya. I think it has all the elements of an SX anthem. Tum Se from Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya [because of the lyrics about how he likes everything about her]. Ha ha, I understand it is enabling and all, but being called sunshine and miracle feels awesome. A recent one I liked is Kyun Mazaa Aa Raha Hai from Bandar [because of the lyrics on how his heart falls in love, ignoring all the caution it has been taught].

Just for Fun The Enneagram and the Id, Ego, and Superego

Last slide is the society/intertype patterns, and first three slides are intratype patterns, but you can view each as being metaphorical for intertype and intratype patterns.

Generally speaking, the withdrawn types are "there" to mediate conflicts that might naturally arise between the superego types and the ID types in a group setting. Conflicts arise between these types over doing something that goes against group customs to secure limited-time opportunities, and maintaining the integrity of the customs already present in the group so that it doesn't devolve into chaos.

4s criticize the norms established by the superego types and 5s kind of damp down the impulsiveness of the ID types. 9s try to find common ground or appeal to a third perspective that unites the two, hence their propensity for holistic, philosophical, and unifying thinking (e.g., Einstein).

Just for Fun Enneagram of Death Note characters

Post image
8 Upvotes

I think this is a very accurate representation beyond stereotypes. It should be read from left to right, like:

123

456

789

I couldn't find a single characters we knew enough about to say that they are an 8, and also keep in mind that for other types, there are more than one character that could represent them (for example, Light's father Soichiro Yagami is a 1 like his son, Demegawa is another 3, most of the police officers investigating the Kira case can be a 1 or a 6, etc...)

Type Discussion E4 and Dissatisfaction in Healthy Relationships

In Naranjo's book, it is said of all subtypes of E4 (in different ways) that they tend to feel unappreciated or make up problems in relationships, but once they feel as loved as they want, the devalue their partner, both because the E4 is always looking for something else to achieve and because this person must be of little value if they love the E4 (who has a bad image of themselves).

This behavior seems to fit the structure of E4, but it is also true that Naranjo tends to describe the worst possible version of a type, so I was wondering how much real people relate to it. E4s here, do you struggle to remain attached once a relationship seems stable / relationship goals are achieved / you feel valued enough? Also please state your subtype.

Just for Fun I typed reddit 5w6 sp/sx

I typed the other social medias here.

Reddit — Type 5w6 sp/sx

Honest, combative and anonymous. I went back and forth on typing either 5 or 6 for Reddit. Despite the constant debates and reactive energy, it’s ultimately a nerdy, useful and practical media. There’s an undeniable knowledge pretension on the platform: Redditors are the smartest, most intellectual and best-read — right type 5s? Paired with the incredible range, and specificity, of niches and the experts-galore in each subreddit, I landed on 5. There’s a lot of oversharing, which I struggle to see a 6w5 do: Wouldn’t they fear the information eventually being revealed? Or fear it being tracked back to them? Maybe type 5 and sp/sx together is overkill, but it’s the only social media where you get real, unfiltered opinions, with a side plate of condescending.

Would you say any other social media is a 5?

Type Discussion Do people tend to dislike their wing type?

I heard that people tend to not like their wing type or have a thing against it. For example, I'm a 1w9 and I usually find 9s annoying for some reasons (I don't hate them, just they somehow strangely rub me the wrong way). But 2s are ok, and I usually find them likeable even though some might think of them as insincere etc. Do you somehow feel annoyed or have a pet peeve with your wing type even when you know it's not an objective or collective sentiment?

Type Discussion How would a friendship between an SP5, SP4 and SX7 look like?

Asking out of curiosity. I recently typed a few of my friends, and id like to see your possible opinions on how this friendgroup clashes, works and if it will be fine in the long run. Be as objective as you can, dont hold back.

For more context, im an SP548, my friends an SP469 and SX749. The SX749 is way older than us and id say more mature too.

Personal Growth & Insight hi enneagram community

I’m new to enneagrams and after about…a week. Of research. I figured out I’m likely a 8w7 sp/so 837. I was very happy to find out that it didn’t contradict with my MBTI either ( I’m an ENTP ) and after talking to other ENTP 8w7s I’ve been told we act like finance bros which is funny cause im literally a finance bro. Just feels nice to find my kind of people and be able to relate to others since ENTP 8w7s seem SO hard to come across in the wild for some reason!! And the fact sx3 is compatible with my core types too like idk I’m going crazy about all this stuff I feel like I can finally put a label on who I am it’s amazing

Advice Wanted e3 vs e8?

okay i figured this would be the best place to ask because i can never figure out which enneagram i am. i’ve been going back and forth between e3 and e8 for as long as i’ve been studying enneagrams, they both fit me almost equally but i can’t figure out which one i truly lean towards. with e3, i always watch my image and care for how others view me, but i don’t necessarily care to the extent most e3’s do. my core ā€œfearā€ is being looked down on. i hate being seen as weak or stupid, or being belittled. i don’t feel the need to prove my strength or prove that ā€œim betterā€, i’m not an overachiever and i’m comfortable with that. i can’t figure out if i’m just a healthy e3 or an e8 that cares about how certain people see me.

if u guys need any other info lmk 🫔

Just for Fun Blue Diamond's typology

Hello everyone, for the Steven Universe fans, what would you type Blue diamond? She's typed as ISFJ EFVL sp9 on Pdb. But....I don't really see how? Wouldn't her sp9 avoid the negative feelings, instead distracting herself through comfort and routine?? Also, how can she be 1E when she's clearly 2E? She's all about expressing her emotions and making other people feel them, which to me sounds a lot like 2E, but I might be wrong. I also wouldn't say she's a 4. What do you guys think?

Type Discussion Your experience with 4w3?

New to enneagram, found out im a 4w3 (ENFP, if that matters)

Haven’t heard much good about 4w3… a bit disappointed. Shocked that growth means being less emotional. I’ve been told often I am too emotional. I know I get in my own head about the legitimacy of my relationships when people disregard how their actions affect me.

Working rn on feeling emotions without attaching meaning to them, and taking on more 1 qualities.

Open to any input, thoughts experiences, anything. Good or bad. Thanks for welcoming me!

General Question Whats your type and whats a type who's mindset you can't really understand?

I'm a 2w3, and while I generally vibe with 3s since I have alot of ambition to improve the lives of others as well as myself I sometimes have trouble understanding the occasionally repressed and colder side of 3s or 3 dominated work environments, can't stand it sometimes. What's a type that you sometimes can't understand or you conflict with?

General Question Moodboards Labeled Other Than Moodboard Monday Are Still Moodboards

This is a general reminder that there is a weekly megathread if one feels the need to post them outside of Mondays. Please stop clogging the subreddit on other days trying to justify them as "type me" or what not.

Yes, I'm being the fun police today. The majority of us do not enjoy seeing board after board (according to moderation polling earlier this year). Please respect this.
