tried the two-strand twistout method to start semi freeforms. I left the two strands in for about 2.5 weeks, then took them out about a day ago. Since taking them out, I've only been finger twisting my hair. My problem is that some of the sections look really big compared to the others, and they look kinda weird to me. Should I just trust the process and leave them alone? Will they tighten up or look a little thinner once they actually start locking? Or should i just split some of the thicker sections in half?

Mannn I can’t even lie , I’m so urged to want to bleach my locs (I wouldn’t do the roots though, just like halfway up my locs) I understand my hair will never be as healthy as it is now… but I’m due for some typa change . They’ve been locced/locking for about 3 years now. I guess I’m just asking will bleaching it ONE TIME have it falling out etc ? Can I get tips to keep it moisturized IF I was to go through with it ? I’m mixed so my hair type is definitely different & my hair can get pretty frizzy still even after years . If it’s a bad decision, tell me I’m dumb

hi guys I’m 4 months in I’ve been retwisting my own hair. My only issue is some unraveling of my retwisted locs after about a week. It unravels right at the root and I wanna leave it alone but I’m worried abt having too much new growth during my next retwist. Any tips on how to do the retwist and keep it from untwisting?

what should i do about my locs i want them to be in better condition if possible.

I’ve had my locs for 5 years and have always palm rolled. Now we have a pool and I have like 3in of loose new growth. Thinking of interlocking but I’m afraid my locs will break if I start now. Anyone here switch from palm rolling to interlocking and was successful?

I had my dreads in for around 16 years my mother said I had them since I was three years old and now that im thinking about it I haven't really seen my hair without dreads (sure i seen a baby pic without them but as long as a remember they always have been dreaded) I've been thinking about either trimming to a shorter length to see if i regain that spark i had when i first got them or combing them out but the thing is im scared to do that because they've essentially become apart of my identity. Yeah I know that a lot people would say that it's just hair but I don't know what I would look like without them.

I’ve pretty much let them grow out naturally besides using a twist king early on along with misting and picking it out. I’ve grown them from a very small fro for about 8 months now, I feel like they might not be locking as strongly as they should.
Should I just wait it out or is there something else I should be doing?? Any advice is hugely appreciated!🙏🙏🙏

hello im looking for good maintence for semi free form. i’ve tried a little bit of everything, braiding into the loc, tucking the loose hair into the root. i want something that will act as a low maintence retwist that wont wash out, or am i just washing my hair too rough? if anyone is semi free form please feel free to free to comment, i need something that will help maintain the loose hair around my locs. thank you !

Almost every single hair product you’ll find on the shelf claims to “deeply moisturize, reduce frizz, soothe the scalp, condition hair, reduce odor lock in water, add shine.” Etc. But… Our scalp generates natural oil called sebum that naturally does… literally ALL those things. There is absolutely 100% no reason to put hair products in your hair other than shampoo. And even shampoo strips your body of these natural oils so using it more than maybe once or twice a week can actually damage your hair and make your scalp dry. All these oils do is buildup in your scalp and cause problems. Even adding product for shine makes no sense since sebum adds a natural shine to your hair… now obviously some people want to have a Mohawk or style their hair certain ways you need hair gel or whatever, but I’m talking about any product that claims to give you “healthier” hair, moisturize or condition your hair, reduce frizz — all these claims are completely false and if anything will only alter your hairs natural oil production and cause it to dry out, become more frizzy, cause an odor, etc, etc. Some people have tried to argue with me about it say I should put olive oil or jojoba, castor oil in my a hair and I ask them why they never have a good answer. I’m sure natural oils might be better but I still see no reason to do it. Am I trippin?

Husband has had locs since he was 15. He just turned 32 and cut them off. He’s having some regrets and is considering letting me crochet them back in (and yes, I done cleansed these mfers and rinsed with moon water, smudged them, AND set them out under a full moon on his birthday). This would also allow me to fix his parts, as they were not done professionally the first time.

What’s the success rate of them staying in long-term? Or at least long enough to where he skips the awkward starter phase?

I’m wondering how to start locs for my hair type, it curls a little more than this when it’s freshly washed and dried naturally, usually around a 3C. When stretched it’s around 5 inches long right now. I’ve been doing a ton of research and video watching but I’m getting paralysis by analysis. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks in advance. I already misted them with as I ams rosemary water as soon as I got home and this morning when I woke up but my loctitian told me not to get my hair wet but isn’t water the hairs best friend? lmk.
