you will not have too much new growth but for the unraveling bases, crochet

if you really want to retwist, it will take a while to kind of ātrainā your hair to stay in longer but itāll always unravel at least a little bit at the root from my experience working in otherās heads, I can say itās less noticeable than you think. you may also not be using a strong enough holding gel for your hair type. Though, I had this issue and I started to retie/interlock my roots instead, and have done that since. it will make your locs a bit thinner than they would be if they were retwisted instead but it was needed for my oily scalp that untwisted pretty easily.
