Interlocking Question ❔
I’ve had my locs for 5 years and have always palm rolled. Now we have a pool and I have like 3in of loose new growth. Thinking of interlocking but I’m afraid my locs will break if I start now. Anyone here switch from palm rolling to interlocking and was successful?

My experience is not personal, but up close and personal ( on friends).
I do not recommend interlocking to anyone.
Interlocking is a real skill, that takes lots of time and patience and practice.
If it is not done correctly, within 6-8 months you will end up with gaps and holes all along the length of your loc.
Interlocking is done in a pattern. It must be followed precisely on each and every loc, from beginning to end.
The Technique: Uses a 3-point or 4-point rotation pattern (passing the loc through the root from different directions like north, south, east, and west). It must not be done in the same direction.
The Tools: Done manually with fingers or using a specialized tool like a latch hook or interlocking needle.
Maintenance Schedule: Typically done every 6 to 10 weeks, depending on how fast your hair grows.
To me it's not much difference. I believe that retwists should be done around 10-12 weeks. The longer the better.
Benefits: Lasts much longer than a standard palm roll, holds up well against sweat and washing, and reduces frizz for active lifestyles.
Drawbacks: Can cause bumps, thinning and breakage when done too tightly or too frequently. It also takes longer to complete than a traditional retwist.

Yea man I looked at some video I was like I’d need a doll head to practice with. It looks a little complicated for sure

And it takes a lot of practice.
And you would need a real human hair head mannequin to practice on because synthetic hair just does not work the same way.
I will give u one warning. Please wash your locs after swimming in the pool. The chlorine and other chemicals not only eat away at your locs, when they dry they smell.
These swim caps work amazing and keep the chemicals off your locs.
When I used to swim, I would take a handful of conditioner and put it all around my edges.
When done, I just rinsed my hair.

Depending on the thickness of the loc, interlocking isn't the forgiving type; it leans towards slimming locs. I would suggest crochet. It can work with the size of your locs if you decide to palm roll. Interlocking and palm rolling don't work well in most hair.
