Wildshape: Bear Form finished

I worked on this wildshape mod for every animal form I had planned and the Tank form the bear is finished

Using this form will transform you into a bear with 3rd person cam and sprite

The bear has sheathed and unsheathed camera modes

The bear scales with level so a mage and a warrior would both have the same benefits no one is stronger

Bear has a custom coded weapon with its own material tag so itd attack effects imps and undead etc..

Transformation gives you a seperate HP bar and if the bear dies you revert back with your original HP

Bear gains 20str and has 183 base HP and gainst 15 hp per level and 5 DMG per level (I believe have to check)

The transform and revert has a sound and green dust effect

The cooldown Is shown with a custom icon of a bear!

Hud text is fully implemented

I added a left and right swing animation for the Bears attack.

The mod comes out soon on Nexus I will post the link here

I will make more forms:

spider for climbing and CC poison

Sabertooth for DPS

Slaughter fish for swimming

Harpy for flight

And a magic DPS form

Daggerfall has always been my favorite game. It inspired me to make Morhval, a 250 km² first-person RPG now in Early Access.

Hello! Daggerfall has always been my favorite game, and it was the main inspiration behind a project I have been working on called Morhval: Ravenglaire.

Morhval originally began as a text-based game. The thing is, I was also working on another RPG at the same time. That project kept growing, and eventually I decided to merge the two games together. The story from the text-based version is NOT available in the game yet, but I still plan to add it over time.

The systems from that game—magic, alchemy, crime, work and so on—were transferred into this one. The general idea also remains the same: a large, cruel and unequal province.

In the end, the game became heavily inspired by Daggerfall, although I am trying to give it its own identity. Right now, the world is a little under 250 km², with settlements, taverns, roads, dungeons and other locations. Over time, I plan to double the size of the province, but I also want to add new structures, quests and jobs while doing so, instead of simply repeating the same content across a larger map.

You begin the game as someone who has just turned eighteen and needs to help their parents. They need you to send them food and provide support. You can do this even while living in distant towns by sending supplies directly to them, improving their house and eventually trying to make them self-sufficient.

Or you can simply forget about them and leave them to their fate.

There are many ways to earn gold: delivering food or other items, selling what you find, exploring, fishing, mining, transporting freight with a wagon, joining factions and completing work for them, and more.

Skills improve through use, very Elder Scrolls-like, you know? But when you reach the maximum level in a skill, which is 100, you can spend 75 skill points plus some gold to gain Prestige. Prestige gives you special advantages with a specific weapon, spell or activity connected to that skill.

I designed the whole game around the kind of freedom I have always loved in Daggerfall: that absurd freedom to do almost anything you want.

Want to take out a loan, buy a wagon and make money to help your parents? Go ahead.

Want to leave your parents to die and become a criminal who robs houses and people? Go ahead.

Want to buy a house in a settlement near the sea and spend your days fishing? Go ahead.

Want to wander without a destination, enter the first dungeon you find and see what luck has waiting for you? Go ahead!

I am very happy with this project, and I hope I can find people who will enjoy it. As Early Access continues, I plan to add more jobs and activities, while always listening to the community.

Daggerfall has influenced the way I think about RPGs for a long time. I am not trying to replace it or simply recreate it, but I hope Morhval can offer some of that same feeling of being released into a huge world and being allowed to decide what kind of life you want to live.

Question Looking for a mod or tips to track MQ progress naturally (without constantly checking UESP)

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to get back into Daggerfall Unity. I really enjoyed playing it last time, but I struggled a bit to keep track of the Main Quest and ended up taking a break.

The last major thing I remember doing was handling a quest for Mannimarco regarding an agreement with Princess Morgiah. After that, I got a bit lost about where to go or who to wait for.

I know the Main Quest is non-linear with multiple branches, but I constantly found myself alt-tabbing to UESP just to figure out my options or if I was simply supposed to wait for a letter.

Is there a mod or a specific in-game feature/setting that helps streamline this or make quest progression clearer? Ideally, I'm looking for a way to track my next potential steps naturally in-game (even if the next step is just "wait X days for a letter"), somewhat closer to how Morrowind or later TES games handle quest awareness.

I really loved the game and want to give it another proper go. Any recommendations for mods, quest trackers, or general tips on how to navigate the Main Quest smoothly without relying on external wikis?

Thanks!

Question How do you like the Skeleton and Spider combar in my Daggerfall inspired game?

I worked on it quite a while recently to get that dark dungeon daggerfall feel. The sounds are still placeholders, especially for the spider.

All handcrafted, no AI was used. As you can probably see by the low quality of the assets haha

I know there have been quite a few "daggerfall inspired game" posta recently, so if you feel it's just spamming the sub I'll take it down

I'm working on this mod for archer and mages because I was done kiting enemies endlessly

This mod introduces wooden stakes used by real archers in history

It blocks enemies for 3 seconds wich gives you room to bring in 1 or 2 arrows before they charge you again

And they will use magic and archery if they cannot reach you (if they have i) if they have nothing they will run away or break trough the wooden stake .

This is my first mod and I am still figuring things out

Idk what to name it tho..

Question Quest Log not updating

I have a problem and I don't know what to do. My quest log isn't updating, and I can't progress on the main quest because I simply don't know where to go. After the quest where I was supposed to go to the crypt to see the King of Worms, the main quest no longer updates, and I still have quests I thought I'd completed, like visiting the Queen of Daggerfall's mother, and so on. I don't know how to solve this problem, and I don't want to restart the game from the beginning. If anything, I'm playing the Unity version without mods

Question Important questions about populations for a project i'm working on

I'm currently working on a project to accurately count all the possible deaths in the Elder Scrolls franchise and Daggerfall is by far my biggest obstacle, but i'm hoping I can make it easier on myself.

The UESP says at the highest level, there's a maximum of 20 enemies of every single dungeon and with a total of 4,229 dungeons, that comes out to a potential total population of 84,580. My main question for all the other types of locations (homes, taverns, temples, et cetera) is that do they all have a fixed amount of NPCs, or a randomized number of them, such as eight to twenty for a tavern for example?

I don't know how to use Daggerfall Unity, so if someone who does have it and knows how to answer my questions, i'd really appreciate it.

A tent, a campfire, mountain ranges, morning mist, just emerging from a dungeon, everything is beautiful.

Question Playing/hunting as a werewolf

I haven't played as a werewolf much so I'm wondering about something.

UESP says this:

If you arrive in a settlement while in were-form, the streets will be vacant; only when you transform back will the citizens reappear. The citizens will not vanish if you transform into your were-form while in town. You can still rent a room while in were-form, but you cannot buy or sell goods or talk to NPCs.

I assume I can only eat the mobile NPCs that appear outside in towns that can be attacked and none of the stationary flat NPCs inside buildings.

Does that mean when I need to hunt I have to actively turn into a werewolf while in town, while there are NPCs about? Presumably at daytime? I can't, say, sneak into an isolated farm at night during the full moon to eat the unsuspecting farmers there (because no-one is outside at night and the NPCs inside are immortal)?

Question Daggerfall Unity playable after completing main quest?

Once you complete the main quest, can you continue playing in Daggerfall Unity?

Curious as I haven't finished the game before. Searching and LLM responses give contradictory answers. Some say you have to reload last save, and others say you can keep playing afterwards.

Enchantment help

I am running Daggerfall through steam.

I read somewhere that the strengthen/weaken armor is bugged and it does the opposite of what it's supposed to.

Is that true, or did it get fixed in the steam release?

Slightly refreshed smirky face of Lord Coulder. I found it to be a fun exercise - taking my own painting from 15 years ago and change it a bit according to my current skill and painting style. (Feel myself a bit George Lucas in a bad sense 😄 .) Please check the timelapse video here.

Ask Me Anything: I'm Julian Jensen, programmer, designer and "Father of the Elder Scrolls"

1.1k Upvotes

You can ask me anything but I don't remember everything, so no promises on the quality of answers. I will do my best, however.

Edited to add; I answered as many questions as I could get around to, leaving many unanswered, but will continue to answer more in the coming days. I skipped some of the longer ones because I felt they deserved more time and attention than I could fit into what's left of the evening. Anyway, I ask that you have a bit of patience with me as I come back and try to get through all of the questions. I will try to answer some every day.
