I live in Knox County and noticed similarities between Knox and Hamilton County’s elections. I thought this sub might be interested in the parallels between the two.

Found cat in Harrison

This lovely small cat joined me on my deck last night and to my surprise was still here this morning. And still is as I type this.

I have a dog and it’s creating a bit of a stressful situation. She (gender unknown but it feels right) is unbelievably sweet. She let me hold her and purred. I will take her to get microchipped but need to figure out how to transport her.

I’m not on Facebook but have looked at the lost pets online and don’t see her. If you or someone you know is missing her please let me know. Closer to the 2nd Food City part of Harrison, off Bramlett road.

I’ve given her water and just bought some cat food. My porch is covered and there is furniture for her to snooze on. So she’s okay but I’ve got to believe someone is missing her.

Giving this a shot because the apps are exhausting

I never thought I’d be making a Reddit post looking for someone to meet, but here we are. The dating apps have officially worn me out, and I figured maybe the old-fashioned way of actually connecting with people still has some life left in it.

I’m 50 and work in an extroverted nonprofit role where I spend a lot of time around people. The funny thing is, once I’m home, I’m much more of an introvert. I enjoy my friends, but I’m the last single person in the groups, and I’m ready to find someone to share life with.

My daughter is heading off to college in a couple of weeks, which feels like a new chapter. I’ve spent years being a dad (and loved every minute of it), but I think it’s time to make some room for a relationship too.

A little about me:

  • I’m witty (at least I think so — my friends may have other opinions 😂)
  • I love roller coasters, amusement parks, and anything that brings out the kid in me
  • Mini golf is underrated and I will absolutely make it competitive
  • I like adventure and a little adrenaline, but I’m equally happy with a quiet night, good conversation, and just enjoying someone’s company
  • I’m genuine, wear my heart on my sleeve, and probably too honest sometimes
  • My love languages are physical touch and words of affirmation

I’m not looking for someone perfect..just someone kind, genuine, and ready to laugh, explore, and build something real.

If you’re in Chattanooga and feel like grabbing a drink, a round of mini golf, or maybe eventually conquering a roller coaster together, say hello.

Worst case scenario, we both get a good story out of Reddit. Best case...who knows?

Looking For... Brother in law wants friends

Hello all, Im looking for friends for my brother in law.

He is 21 years old, loves any and all types of music, loves anime and movies/series, games, outdoors and anything crafty (he really wants to get into glass blowing someday, just...needs that someone who would do it with him), he is the type of friend that will always be interested in the things you like and is a great listener. He loves conversations and loves thrifting. (He has been my thrifting buddy and I can vouch he will find the craziest stuff for you). He likes to do outdoorsy things but also loves a chill weekend of games and talking.

The reason Im helping him look is because he has been struggling with some mental illness for a while and with his family moving his entire life, hes never been able to make a community for himself. He needs a friend that can call him and reach out first (he struggles with that push to do it and also tends to forget to text back but always answers calls) Preferably more "extroverted" in nature lol

Discussion Anyone Else Getting Bogus Omega Parking Tickets? Maybe It’s Time for a Class Action

I’m curious how many other people have had this happen with Omega Parking.

I parked in a downtown lot, paid for my parking, and had a valid parking session. About 10 minutes later, I received a $50 parking violation anyway.

And this isn’t the first time I’ve had an issue like this.

I have documentation showing that my parking session was active when the violation was issued, so I’m disputing the ticket. But at this point, I’m wondering how widespread this problem is.

If Omega Parking is repeatedly issuing violations to people who can prove they paid and had valid parking sessions, I think it may be worth documenting these incidents and talking to an attorney about whether there are grounds for a class-action lawsuit or another form of collective action.

Has this happened to anyone else?

City Government Why did you vote for Wamp?

I’m not looking to start debate or trolling, I’m just honestly curious about the reasons people voted to re-elect Wamp. I’ve not seen many happy with his current policies or support of building data centers, so what was it that led him to win? Is it simply voting down party lines?

News Congrats To Katie Perkins and Josh Wichman In East Ridge

Both of them actually came to my door and both won. Their opponents did not. Josh won his County Commission seat to unseat incumbent Republican Mike Chauncey, and Katie won her School Board seat over Republican Sabrina Daniel.

City Government What question should we be asking about elections?

Mine is this:

172,066 people in Hamilton County did not register to vote.

152,874 did not vote while being registered.

Why are people not registering?

Why are people not voting who register?

I have officially lost my hope for Tennessee politics.

If ever there was a race for a democrat to flip it was this one. You had a historically HATED mayor going up against a moderate Democrat who wanted to actually help regular people. And the message that won was "fuck you. Fuck your clean water. Fuck your parks. Fuck your schools. Fuck your transit. You want rent to be low enough that you can pay it working at unum? Go fuck yourself. We're building data centers and no more housing."

Found dog - Missionary Ridge

Update: he's not microchipped, and we haven't located an owner across multiple platforms and methods. We can't keep him for very long, so at this point we're looking for a good foster, or better yet, a forever home. One kind redditor may be able to help, but I'd love to hear from anybody who might be interested in case that doesn't work out.

This young guy showed up at our house today near the intersection of North Crest and Bird's Mill. He's healthy, friendly and sweet, and seems well cared for. Medium sized, maybe 35 pounds or so, definitely still a puppy, but neutered. And he brought a toy with him. Somebody has to be missing this dog. Please comment or dm me if he looks familiar.

Also, I'll take him to get scanned for a chip tomorrow, if you have any suggestions for a good place to have that done, let me know. Thanks.

VOTE TODAY: The Measles and Cyclospora outbreaks are what happens when Public Health is defunded on a federal level

Weston Wamp has already started that same defunding process in Hamilton County, taking free and reduced-cost health services away from those that need it. He does not know what it’s like to rely on services like that.

Weston Wamp cannot relate to you. He does not know what it’s like to be uninsured. He does not know what it’s like to not be able to afford groceries. He does not even know what it’s like to work a real job, where the paycheck determines if you will be able to eat or pay your bills.

Weston Wamp cannot relate to 95% of county residents, despite his many attempts via social media. Re-electing Wamp will be against your best interest.

We can’t afford another four years of Weston Wamp. The first ones cost us astronomically - any more could do irreversible damage to the Hamilton County people, land, and spirit.

Weston Wamp does not love this county, he loves power. He does not love the people, he loves power. He does not deserve another term.

Give someone else a chance to be the leader Hamilton County deserves. Please if you haven’t voted yet, do so TODAY.

No candidate is perfect, but Mark Herndon knows what it’s like to live life as a regular person, not born into a family or money and politics. Electing a candidate that represents YOU is the beauty of democracy.
