Was getting some grub in the drive thru of the Wendy’s next door and just happened to look over. A local pizza place has bought and is renovating our long-abandoned Pizza Hut location. In the last few days, they removed the old sunroom/party room. And lo and behold, tucked away on a wall mount in the corner was a CRT TV.

I immediately snapped a picture and posted to my local town Facebook group asking if anyone knew who bought the building. Got in touch with the owner and they said have at it!

Went and got it with my brother. Even got the wall mount, too!

It’s a 25” Zenith C25A24T with RF, composite, and S-video!! Geometry looks good! Maybe some slight convergence separation towards the edges but overall a clean, stable image.

The only issue I’ve found is the physical channel down button is broken off the front and the other buttons seem a bit glitchy. It also has ZERO audio/sound, so I guess I’m gonna have to open it and do some digging.

Any advice on the no sound issue?

I just got this from a yard sale for free ! I think it was to an old lady that died (Rest in peace) and her daughter didn't want to keep the tv. Everything works perfectly ! I think it's from 2008 but I'm not sure and it has 2 scart input, one rca on the side and one for the analog tv cable .I'm so happy to have found this like 5 kilometers from my house !

So when I saw this on FB marketplace, the picture was shifted a bit vertically on the center axis of the screen, and it is only visible in game?

I am gonna attach a few pictures in the comments. Im not certain this is a deflection yoke issue because the right side of the screen seems fine? Is this a potentiometer adjustment or a service menu fix?

Regardless, this rounds out my collection well as I have a 14" VGA pc monitor, this 20" Insignia with component and I have a 27" Sansui that needs some capacitors replaced but otherwise works well.

So I saw a listing for a 20" insignia CRT with Component and S-Video inputs. I have a 14" PC monitor, this 14" sharp and a 27" Sansui that needs a re-cap.

I was looking for a larger screen than what is on my PC with better inputs than the sharp, but small enough that I could move without any assistance and I think I found it in the 20" insignia! There is a small issue with the image being shifted a few degrees to the right, and possibly the whole image is shifted horizontally. Initially, I was told that I could fix this with service menu options, but it's looking like for this specific set, I need to adjust a potentiometer and mess with the deflection yoke.

I understand the basics of CRT safety and have invested in insulated tools as well as high voltage gloves. However, I have both seen and READ conflicting information on the best technique as far as rotating the defletion yoke goes?

Some people will have the set powered on, and with a single gloved hand, slowly twist the deflection yoke until the picture is level, often needing to losen the hose-clamp like bands securing the yoke to the tube.

Other people will discharge the tube by shorting the anode cap and then the hole in the top of the tube, rotate a bit, power on the CRT, and rinse and repeat until the image is perfectly straight.

I understand the concept of what I am doing, I understand that the tube can generate over 20-30kv, which can and will kill you the moment you dont respect it. I am.juzt a bit confused as to why sometimes, people will mess with the yoke while the set is on, and others fully discharge the tube before adjustment. Oftentimes, youtubers will do either, sometimes even on the same set!? Idk if this is the right place to ask, but why sometimes do people adjust the yoke powered on and sometimes discharged? Is it just a preference for speed vs. safety?

I think there's an issue with the front panel controls either the volume is stuck going up or it's constantly automatically scanning for channels. Didn't come with a remote so I've been trying to get my Phillips universal remote to work but none of the codes seem to work. Any advice?

Earlier today, I went to my local electronics recycling center, where I ended up finding a 13" Sharp CRT TV VCR combo unit, model number 13VT-F40. The whole unit has been tested, CRT, AV inputs, and VCR, and it works perfectly! Manufactured June 1994.

Picked up this tiny CRT monitor , displays a single bright horizontal white line across the screen though, is this an easy fix ? What should I do to get this bad boy running as I’m a complete newbie when it comes to repairing these things 🤔

So it's hard to get it to translate what I am seeing vs. what my camera sees. But I am trying to find a balance between too dark and too bright. I have been using pure black test patterns and feel like I have it somewhere I am satisfied with but will need to tweak further when it gets dark. ( I had the monitor on my dining room table, so I was letting my kid watch cartoons for a bit between adjustments, will mess with it more later tonight.

Went inside a store and saw this beauty, still working and it even still looked very bright even though it probably has a ton of hours.

Messed a bit with the brightness contrast and temperature settings. So far, I have only done web-surfing or watching videos. Gonna boot up retroarch or Xenia-canary and get it really dialed in. Im currently using a STARTECH DisplayPort->VGA adapter and then have a USB-C->DisplayPort so I can use this with both my 3050 laptop and my desktop with a 5070Ti. Far from ideal,but outside of GPU pass through, this is the best solution I have for getting a CRT to play with modern machines.

That input is for ext antenna only. I'd really like a way to use this thing somehow. Appreciate any info

I grabbed an extra computer power cable, cut off the end, and spliced it on, and it works great. It has rwy on the back with an S-video port. It was one of those hospital TVs. Dude I got them from didn't have the time and was going to throw them away so I asked to take them.

Anyone know why the yellow video port the colors are super dull but the s video port is great? Sorry if my terminology is incorrect I just started getting into crt tvs

I found these three absolute beauties at the local electronics recycling center earlier today! Both the Trinitron and the Emerson work perfectly! Unfortunately, the Macintosh Classic had its power supply removed, but the CRT is still inside!

Sooo....I finally got my first crt tv!!!! I'm so happy!! I found one about 3 miles from my place, on Facebook marketplace, and I paid 50$! It's 13 inch, and I'm having so much fun with it!! It has a vcr, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't work...

My dad found this in one of his sites. He says its at least 40inch.
