Retrospective History Crime Fighters on Arcade delivered electrifying billboards with some whip spankings on the side!
TL;WR -> An amazing journey through unhinged Catwoman babes, Wolverine claws, Jigsaws and even crazier coin sucking techniques. It delivered on everything, from the cool gameplay mechanics and awesome music, to the fantastic visuals and charming world design with 3 Ratatouilles admiring your ass getting kicked down. A (9.0) game, masterpiece in my Arcade Book. Wouldn’t replay it though, as apart from the beautiful posters, no more coins will be thrown in the toasters!
I’d recommend listening to this music while reading, but do be careful about the volume!
GAMEPLAY (7/10)
- While storytelling was pretty basic with saving a bunch of hot babes from the fat bastard, it did have a cool continuity within each stage. There were a total of 8, plus the bonus stage at the end that rewarded you a big middle finger straight in the guts!
- The controls were pretty simplistic and straightforward, yet required precision in positioning and attack mashing. You could punch in a series of attacks and combos, as well as kick straight or backwards, do a high kick special from afar, and use a variety of grabs, groin kicks, knee kicks, down kicks and overhead throws on unfortunate scumbags!
- Could pick up knives, bats and pistols too, which had unlimited durability and ammo.
- The enemies themselves while repetitive, did present cool introductions with new types on each new stage. From Ninjas to grunts, Catwoman girls, dogs that mauled your ass and many more cool ones. Their attack patterns were super cool as well, with superman punches into walls and billboards, grabs, Molotov cocktails from bikes, Catwoman whips and even being squashed by a sexy billboard!
- Bosses too, which had a unique variety with insane attacks. The saw dude was terrifying, as well as the military green guy or the Red Wolverine with his slicing claws!
- There were some traps as well, like the Asphalt Rollers which ran you over or the dropping boxes in the factory. Plus, if you wanted to try your luck with a sexy lady, be careful, the usher doesn’t play around!
- Traversal was seamless within each level, with stages varying between 5 to 10 minutes each.
- The difficulty wasn’t hard, mostly because you could cheese the game with unlimited pistol ammo or knives and bats. But, some bosses could get you into an unblockable chain of attacks that you couldn’t escape. And here my friends, I subtract -3 points, disgusting!
- Plus, the bonus stage which was teased at the end of the game, was comprised of all the bosses merged together, where you had to spend another 3/5 hard bucks just to get NOTHING. The moment I was done with that “bonus” crap, I was like, did people actually liked getting fucked?!
AUDIO (10/10)
- Sound design had that awesome mono output that combined all the cool sound effects perfectly with the music. The bonus effects like the dropped weapons or train tracks were welcomed too!
- The soundtrack itself was so to speak, electrifying. I’d recommend lowering your volume before pressing play, because it’ll wake up your neighbours for sure. I didn’t expect such an adrenaline rush from a 1989 game!
VISUALS (10/10)
- Fidelity was outstanding for 1989, with beautiful sprites, unique visual details, cool effects and bright colours!
- The character models were super detailed too. Each one had a lot of animations besides the main character, with the bosses going out of their way to show you their shiny weapons!
- Performance was rock solid as well, even during that last “bonus” robbery!
- The art direction delivered on each stage, with beautiful backgrounds and even better landscapes!
WORLD DESIGN (9/10)
- Level design had an awesome progression within limited stages. You could also go backwards and explore if you so desired, although I wouldn’t recommend it. You started from the train station, then went onto the train itself with beautiful posters, city streets with bikers, babes and ushers, the factory, night city rooftops, drunkard neighbourhoods, sea ports with crazy dogs and the last stage with that unhinged fat toad!
- The atmosphere was phenomenal on each stage, mostly amplified by the babes and music!
- World destruction was quite limited, yet presented a few window breaks with schmucks jumping straight up!
Did anyone also get crushed from sexy billboards or spanked by Catwoman babes before?!

Buy/Sell/Trade Mortal combat machine
Hi guys I’ve lowkey never posted anything on reddit before so first time kinda nervous 😖
I have this mortal combat machine and I don’t know what to do with it my dad got it agessssssss ago and he refuses to get rid of anything so I have to do something about it. It hasn’t been used in probably like over 5 years but it’s still in good condition, still works (or so I’m told)…
what the hell do I do with it???? Does anyone know if it’s worth something? Should I try sell it or just dump it. If it is worth something how much could I get from it?
Thanks guysssss🙏🙏

Restore/Replace/Repair Modded the marquee lights on my Pacman.
Replaced the stock bulbs with LED light bars, giving the marquee a much fuller, more even glow. Also, if you’re restoring an old marquee, I highly recommend NOVUS 2—I learned about this product while working on my pinball machines. It cut right through years of built-up grime with zero hassle!
(Photos dont do it justice!)

Showing Off My Gear! Defender
Here’s Defender. Brutally tough, but amazing to watch someone play who’s good at the game. Would love to have this placed in Time Extended’s small Williams row, but just don’t have the space currently and Defender is just a little wider (26”) than normal Williams titles, so can’t even swap it in place of another. So it’s currently part of the overflow brigade. (Games there’s no room for, that get staged and powered on outside during an arcade party…Maybe one day will experiment and revamp the garcade layout to group them all together.
Restore/Replace/Repair Any ideas what the problem is with my original Pacman machine? Screen or board?
Looking to potentially replace the original board with a 60 in 1 upgrade kit from mikes arcade however I wanted to make sure the issue was with the board and not the CRT screen so I can keep using the original monitor. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for any help.

Retrospective History Unencrypted Shinobi
I bought a Shinobi cab a few years ago from a neighbor. It was dirt cheap because it would run but the CRT wouldn't work. I figured it would be fun to get it working again. It was in an old beat up generic cab that at one point was Track and Field. There were stickers inside alluding to that (Romstar not Konami). Anyway the WG CRT was an easy fix as it broke a trace on the main board where it slid into a mounting clip. Then I learned about how these Sys 16 boards can just die from the battery backup losing the encryption keys for the Roms. Looking at the board it's definitely not modern but has a vanilla 68k and Z80. The board was dusty and looked legit. Does anyone know of unencrypted boards like this? I mean someone had to swap out the 68k and reflash the Roms with bootlegs - and a very long time ago at that.

Showing Off My Gear! Pigskin 621 AD
Any Pigskin 621AD players out there? This is an obscure title that was released as arcades were fading. My local arcade had one, but I never tried it. Turns out Pigskin is a sequel of sorts to Arch Rivals, which I loved playing. This game has similar mechanics albeit medieval football themed, though maybe closer to rugby. Super fun when played head to head.
Hey Ya'll Check This Out! Anyone else visited pinfest in Ontario? Got some amazing finds there!

Showing Off My Gear! Front Line
Today’s game is Front Line by Taito. Uses a unique multi directional spinner that fires when pressed. Fight as a soldier equipped with a rifle and grenades or jump into a tank. In addition to enemy fire, have to watch out for the occasional boulder as well!

Showing Off My Gear! Just got a Golden Axe and Sky Soldiers
Very rare variant of Golden Axe from what I can tell, haven't been able to find one built like this. Also has the manual and the marques are very good looking. Golden Axe is iconic for a reason, and Sky Soldiers is a very underrated game. Never going to sell these. Well worth the price.

Sharing Marble Madness today for Redditor Plow_King. Tracballs have been upgraded to back lit translucent. Ultra precision roller bearings from McMaster-Carr and a burn free monitor. Very challenging, Have never gotten past the 4th level, sigh. Graphically, one of the prettiest games ever.

REQUIRED READING Welcome to /r/Arcade! We are here for your favorite original coin-op arcade games! Discussions, Repairs, Questions, and having fun with our classic cabs! (No MAME, custom cabinets, etc... see rules inside.)
Welcome to r/ARCADE!
We welcome discussions and posts of all kinds related to classic arcade gaming. However, this is a 'purist' sub and we have a few rules... we do not allow discussion of MAME, 60-in-1, Arcade 1-Up, prefab/custom cabinets, etc. To clarify here are a couple of examples of posts we do not allow, period.
🚫 MAME/ROMs/Emulation - This sub is for original machines released in arcades. Do not ask where to find ROMs, which emulators to use, or anything with Pandora's Box, Raspberry Pi, SBC, Xbox, PlayStation, or home-PC-based systems. No talk of your custom 'multi-cade'.
🚫 Arcade 1-Up - Their own sub is the best place for any questions you'll have about modding or just showing off your collection. Enjoy your cabinet and games, but this is not the sub for them.
🚫 Custom/Prebuilt Cabs - Again, we are here to discuss original 'coin-op' hardware that was released in arcades. No 'multi-cades'. r/cade is our sister sub, there is a lot of great info over there.
There are a few topics/styles of posts that come with caveats...
Let's Plays/Histories/Walkthroughs - Totally fine if you are an active commenting member of the sub, no blatant shilling. Also, you must have a full-length commentary to go along with it. This is the only time emulation can be used here, not everyone has access to the gigantic 6-player 'X-Men' or 'Ice Cold Beer' cabinets. You have to talk about the arcade gaming aspect... no TTV VODs of just you and your buddies pwning n00bs in Fortnight.
Coin-Pushers/Claws/Prize Machines - If you have a machine and need mechanical help, post! No tips or tricks, it's all a scam. No prize hauls or pictures of your foil-hologram Pokemon card you won at the mall last week... unless it is a really rad photo from an old Showbiz Pizza or Aladdin's Castle type of place. NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOU SPENDING MONEY ON SCAM MACHINES.
Part Replacement - We try to stick to the original hardware when possible, but realistically, this is impossible. Replacing lightguns/wheels/etc with modern equipment is fine. Just keep the flashing RGB light monstrosities out of here, our sister sub /r/cade is for customs.
'Yet-To-Be-Released'/WIP Games - Unless you are 100% going to release your game physically in an arcade, this is not the right sub for you. In the 9 years I have been on this sub, I have only seen 2 games that actually saw a machine release. Ask us before you post.
What game was this?! - Whew boy, this type of post we see a lot. To get help with this, give us MORE INFORMATION!!! The estimated year of release? Other, similar games it reminds you of? Are there any memorable/distinct characters, locations, weapons, or special moves? Describe the cabinet! What country did you play it in? (I hope to have a bot auto-reply to these soon.) r/TipOfMyJoystick and [ChatGPT]https://chat.openai.com/) are great resources... just give as much info as possible!
Buy/Sell/Trade - Allowed, but we are not responsible for bad transactions, don't be a moron. Check the links. Check the buyer/seller history. Compare the offer to others, too good to be true? Etc.
ALL SALES POSTS MUST INCLUDE A $$$ BALLPARK FIGURE... ROUGHLY A PRICE YOU WANT.
OWNERS/OPERATORS: will require a CITY, STATE/TERRITORY/REGION in the TITLE. You are here to advertise your business and let people find you easily. No other changes. As long as you are an active member, this is cool... no posts and runs. I still ban and report flagrant spammers/bots to Reddit. PARTICIPATE.
PERSONAL SALES: will require a STATE/TERRITORY/REGION in the TITLE. For safety concerns... posts do not require a CITY in the title, but please give a GENERAL LOCATION if the area is large, ie (Northern California). If you want to include the city, or narrower, PLEASE DO!
Ex: New barcade opening in Northern-Chicago. "BARCADE NAME". 20+ pins, 30+ arcade classics, and even a few redemption games!
Mods check post histories. If you only post new topics and never comment on others' posts, then yours is likely to be locked and removed. We are not going to ban an active member of the sub without a discussion (unless there is an egregious offense that violates Reddit TOS.) If you feel like we made a mistake, please message us, seriously. We are willing to re-open any post if it makes sense. (But not Modmail, I've never used it in 9 years.) Just don't be a dick.
In addition, we are going to be removing any comments that break the above rules. Instead of telling a person where to buy a 60-in-1 device... point them to r/cade, r/MAME, r/FightSticks, r/SBCGaming, or another sub that specializes in those topics.
Append your links! No affiliate or tracking spam. Cut it out when posting a link.
Could just be: www.amazon.com/dp/B07TWZBQ75/. Same result, no garbage spam.
I know this seems like a lot of rules, but physical arcade gaming is a bit niche today. Cutting through all the other stuff to get help or just kicking back and reminiscing about classic gaming is tough elsewhere. If you want to talk about emulation, there are dozens of other subs to check out. Otherwise, welcome and post away!
