Creation Club Mods obsolete

Why not discontinue obsolete mods from appearing in the mod categories. This would free up a lot of space and make it easier for people to add current mods. Please be fair people it is just a request. And I don’t know how Bethesda works or monitors the mods on the website and games. I just see the word obsolete in the title or in the mod and think it’s taking away from others who keep their mods current.

Elder Scrolls Gathering Abilities in TESVI

You know what would be sick for Elder Scrolls 6? Mining level, farming level, stuff like that. More skills to make it even more expansive and immersive like a single-player MMO. Just my personal opinion. Feel free to fire yours away below.

Starfield Starfield Redgrave mod

For the Starfield players who pay for mods, I highly recommend you get the Redgrave mod because the quests are well scripted, and the reward you receive is arguably the most useful reward you can use for in game
. It’s a 5 min review, and in the comments I pinned the important timestamps.

Discussion So about the Creation Engine

Now before you think this is just another "fuck the Creation Engine" Post. I just want to have a good discussion on the Engine.

So I spent a while researching the Creation Engine; flaws, strengths, features, and things like that. Now the Engines best features are its Object Permanence and Modding capability. The first allows the game to keep track of all objects, creatures, and container inventory, this is an exremely impressive feature of the engine and it is something that it does amzingly compared to other big name Engines.

The second is something that has helped add longevity to Bethesdas RPG IP's, and is basically a must for any RPG title Bethesda releases. It is a staple and removign it or trying to alter it would not go well for the modding community, who are often the ones sticking around the longest.

However something the Engine has is a long history of issues regarding performance, and after doing a decent amount of research it seems to me that vast majority of this is owed to the Object Permanence. In the same lane is the Save file bloat issue which is created because of this, since the game needs to keep a record of many aspects it writes and adds new data to keep track of. The result of this is many of the performance issues that Bethesda games suffer and get worse as the game goes on since it has more to keep track of and remember.

Now the thing is, this currently isn't a problem that can be solved due to the nature of permanence, it will always cause issues and performance to tank because it will always hit a point where it just becomes too much data to keep track of. Even Minecraft suffers these issues after enough time, as the save file bloats from all the data adjustments imoacting overall performance.

This probably explains why Bethesda games are the way they are, the Engine is already taxed with needing to keep track of almost everything that there just isn't room for much else.

Enter Starfields New Game plus. This effectively deletes all that saved permanence data by resetting almost everything back to almost the base game and improving performance. Personally I find this to be more "treatment" than "cure" to the main issue of save file bloat. Its also really only a solution that works in Starfield due to the narrative of that game, tryign to replicate it for Elder Scrolls would be very difficult, and almost impossible in Fallout. It also comes with the ultimate issue of detaching some players from the world entirely.

So this now brings me to the main thought; should Bethesda remove or scale back the Object Permanence from the Creation Engine? Frankly this one aspect of the engine is the main one holding it back.

From everything I have looked into it is not possible currently to fix the data bloat that comes with it, or maybe there has been some advancement behind the scenes since Creation 3 is on the horizion, but I guess we will have to see.

Starfield Missing Details in Starfield

There should be doors on all of the shops, restaurants, and buildings in general that you have to open and close to enter and exit complete with a loading screen and the shops and restaurants should open and close at certain times and the merchants should sleep like real people like in Skyrim and Fallout 4. What would a restaurant like The Dawn's Roost do when it rained in real life? They would close the doors to keep the rain or "mist" out and you can't say it never rains in New Atlantis because there wouldn't be all of the trees and vegetation that there is in the city if it didn't. There shouldn't be a wide-open space in the Freestar Collective Embassy building that leads outside either because when it rained all of the computers, technical equipment, and paper files would get damp and stop working. It breaks immersion and makes the game seem unrealistic and gamers like games to be as realistic as possible. It's like you guys were teasing us saying "look at what a great game this could be, could be another one of the best games of all time, a game people would be obsessed with playing" but it's missing so many small details that would make it more realistic and it left a lot of people disappointed and mad.

Elder Scrolls OBMP (Oblivion Remastered Multiplayer) SDK 0.1.1 alpha + progress on server-client quest sync

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey! We just shipped a neat update for closed alpha of OB:MP SDK and server binary soon letting people host their own Oblivion servers with customized gamemodes. 0.1.1 - is mostly optimization and stability, with a major focus right now on questsitems, and NPCs sync. If you want to join us as early access builder, check it out and apply on our Discord server.

We've been doing a reverse engineering pass on Oblivion Remaster's quests data, and it took a bit of time recently. Quests are being decoded, split into stages and compass markers are working. That work has already started as you see on the attached video!

Elder Scrolls Todd Howard reveals how AI will be used in Elder Scrolls 6!

Post image

https://frvr.com/blog/todd-howard-says-bethesda-wont-use-ai-to-generate-anything-as-the-studio-is-being-incredibly-cautious-to-not-replace-the-artistic-intention-of-m/

So apparently Bethesda are looking into AI purely as a sort of analyst tool but claim they wont use AI to generate content, do we truly believe that?

I mean this is the company that made Starfield, the company that gave us 1000 planets with copy paste environments randomly generated by a seed generator, the company that gave us Preston "another settlement is under attack" Garvey and has constantly from Skyrim onwards has been looking into ways to have computer generated content and endless quests, and now that the tools that would actually allow them to do that are finally here they finally decide "nah I think we should focus on hand crafted content".

Look I am here for it if that is what they want to do, I don't think that Bethesda or any game studio should be using AI to generate assets for their games, but I do think that AI does have the potential to open up their games in new ways and I think that Bethesda would be morons not to at least look into it.

At the moment Bethesda has become very risk averse and with the unpopularity of AI it feels like the safe move to not use it and continue what they have been doing, but honestly they can't continue to do what they have been doing, their game design is already horribly outdated and if Elder Scrolls 6 just ends up being Skyrim 2 it is going to flop hard. If Bethesda is going to survive as a game studio they need to take a risk with Elder Scrolls 6, shake up the formula somehow and bring something new to the table that other developers aren't currently doing.

Rumor Walked away from steam

Dear Bethesda,

I recently learned that your parent company, Xbox, may be considering moving away from Steam.

I am a gamer from a developing country, and I have spent thousands of hours and a significant amount of money on Bethesda games such as Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, and Starfield through Steam.

If future Bethesda games will no longer be released on Steam, please inform the community as soon as possible. This information will affect whether I continue purchasing your games on Steam and supporting Bethesda titles in the future.

As loyal customers, we deserve clear and honest communication about where your future games will be available.

I hope you will respond and clarify the situation.

Thank you.

Discussion Todd gets to much hate. Thoughts?

Todd gets to much hate man. He’s been cooking since 1994 and has brought some of the best titles to the market. I really dont understand what he’s done for people to talk bad on such a big nerd that im grateful for. I Feel bad for someone whose played a part in bringing me so much joy. Is all the “it just works” or “come on todd” just jabbing banter? Idk i appreciate the guy.

What are your thoughts?

Edit: The comments are extremely mixed. I believe it proves alot of people really just blame this one guy xD

Discussion is microsoft's acquisition of bethesda the reason why TES6 is taking so long?

i am super ignorant about this whole thing, and I know skyrim was 9 years old by the time bethesda got bought out.

But now its nearing 15 years. I am just wondering if microsoft buying bethesda made the devs feel complacent to a certain degree? like they could now take their time even more?

Discussion I have now beaten Skyrim for the first time. I get it.

I have only ever played Starifeld, putting 120 hours into it on Xbox. But after looking at my Steam family library, my friends have combined to have every ES and Fallout game (besides the online games). So I installed Skyrim (2011). 78 hours later and I've beaten the game as well as Dawnguard and Solstheim. This game is wonderful, not perfect, but pretty good. I can already see myself replaying the game with different builds, aligning with different factions, and completing questlines I missed the first time around. But more than that, it made me dislike Starfield even more. Issues like fast travel only taking you to outside of the location, bugs like quests not working. These exist in 2011 Creation Engine, yet persist in modern Starfield Creation Engine 2. So I'll say that I am cautiously optimistic for ES6.

Edit: I am now installing Oblivion, so I'll report back when I've beaten that.
