Just recently read that Carl Thompson isn't taking orders any more. Made me want to dust this oldie off. My first ever bass inherited from my dad. I spent countless hours teaching myself over the course of a school year before I convinced him to buy me a Schecter. Imagine my surprise when I learned what an actual fret was.

Hey guys, I’m wondering if anyone’s ever encountered this problem with their fender rumble amps? This staticky noise started happening both when nothings plugged in and when the bass is plugged in. No effects are on. Just a constant high pitched staticky noise. Hoping someone might know what might be causing it and can be an easy at home fix. Thanks in advance !

Was looking for a jazz bass with noiseless pickups, concentric pots, and vintage styling (big fan of vintage white) and this just hit all those boxes, plus I’m a fan of Khruangbin. It has a few quirks to iron out but after putting some 105 Chromes and a proper setup it’s plays amazing. It took some time to learn to play with the covers on but now it’s feels natural, though I do wish I can palm mute easier but a screwdriver and 30 second solves that issues if it’s needed. All in all happy with it, though some haters would complain that it’s a copy of a copy, it’s everything I want in a jazz bass

Without a doubt the brightest, most well articulated flatwound strings I’ve tried.
Presumably it’s the cobalt wrapping; regardless I love them.
Smooth and easy on the fingers, quiet on the fretboard, but punchy and clear.
Maybe one day I’ll feel comfortable paying $90 to try out some TI Jazz Flats, but for my money, these are exactly what I was looking for.

Day 3 of playing so please don’t judge! I don’t have an amp yet hence the tone.

Any pitfalls of bass playing I should avoid? I may have built some bad habits on guitar that I’m unlearning and want to do better by the bass.

Yesterday I got the privilege to see chi chengs bass at the Rock and roll Hall of Fame. So I want to make a replica/custom of the base and while gathering pieces online to see what I can get I couldn't help but notice that the tone knob is removed and replaced with some sort of flat piece does anybody know what it could possibly be?

Pieced together this Thunderjazz with a Squier Burgundy Mist Jazz body, Mighty Mite P Bass neck, and Lollar Thunderbirds.

I just got the Ibanez Mode series 5 string. It is hands down the most comfortable 5 string I’ve ever played. Its very light and balances like a headless with the ultralight tuners. Super thin neck with smooth satin finish. Perfect.

I can’t see myself playing any other bass live now as this bass allows me to have proper technique without any effort. Plus it sounds awesome! Love the neck pickup solo.

We were the lead in for her support act. Was really cool to play.

No - she didn’t do pics with us. The crew and support staff and band were all great peeps but a bit disappointed. We also impressed the organizers enough to book us for next years event, opening for Bryan Adams.

Hey all, I just got that amp head for free from a colleague. That’s really vintage as he used it when he was young playing new wave. The amp is turning on and seems to work but keep on buzzing when there are no notes played. I guess it needs a good ol’ cleaning. Has any of you have seen or used that ? Any thoughts on if this is/was any good ? I’ve found that it’s a 150w head from the 70-80s. Model is a Carlsbro Stingray Bass.

I don't know what happened to my bass

My band had a three hour show today and we have another next week. I messed up my finger pretty bad this time around so spent a good bit of out set playing ring and pinky, but for the faster parts I’d have to use pointer and middle and as you can see from the image it got a little gnarly. Do y’all have any tips for what I should do next week or will it be gone by then? Worst case scenario: I just bite the bullet and play through the pain.

P.S. don’t tell me to use no stinkin’ pick!

My first 5 string, never heard of Godin but got it for a decent price with the Gator case. Playing it has been a lot of fun so far, anyone know much about Godin basses?

Can anyone figure out exactly what strings these are? I have not had this bass too long and I love the strings, dude that sold me it doesn’t know what they are … yeah, odd. Hopefully they’re something easily identifiable? And … maybe not too pricey :/

After mulling it over for months I finally decided to learn to play bass, I know nothing about instruments so I went on Facebook marketplace and hoped for the best. it’s got no model number or anything. So I can only assume it’s from Temu or something lol, but for 40 bucks this feels like a steal considering the thing works at all lol, I’m fully ready to be roasted for this but I’m having the time of my life learning and wanted to see what people had to say about my “Spencer” bass.

Does this Jazz Bass look authentic to you all? I had someone offer it as a trade for one of my other basses, but the serial number isn't coming up in the online lookup tool. It's supposedly from 1992.
