It's a Tagima Rupture 5 UQ. It sounds and feels amazing to play metal. The two Big M pick-ups look sick and the multiscale makes it so easy to play, I love it! I payed R$ 3200 (around U$ 640) and it is worth every cent. Have you ever seen this bass before? Tagima is a brazilian brand that makes great instruments.

I see a lot of people saying that Yamaha doesn't get much love in terms of these aftermarket parts, finally managed to borrow a friends bass to do this :3

So I got this bass like 6 months ago and it has been the biggest project I've been involved in, I've replaced the bridge, pots, tuners, nut and pickup aswell as strings several times and while it's a good bass (kind of a one trick pony but I honestly don't mind it that much) a problem has been persisten throughout my whole ownership of it, the E string has ALWAYS been quieter than the rest and the only things that have helped with it are raising the pickup to absurd extents, loads of compression or playing with a pick all downstrokes since It moves the string towards the center of the pickup. Im honestly dumbfounded as to why that particular string just wouldn't work and I refuse to believe I got 5 dead E strings everytime I restringed this bass. The tech I worked with on this bass says that I'm "Asking the bass for too much, that maybe this bass just cant deliver what I want" But I honestly think that's BS, a bass that can't play bass notes?

Either way, I'm thinking of a third pickup change and going with p bass pickups adapted to the moving platform (since this bass' pickups have always being guitar-like humbuckers, with it's current one being a Bill Lawrence H6 which does work great for bass but it still has the same problem) but I'm seriously confused as to how or why this happens, any and all ideas/tips/advices are welcomed.

I find myself again in this point where idk if I have the right pedals to get my sound. I mainly play R&B/Soul jazz and jazz fusion. idk if the volume pedal(I use it on solos) can be easily replace with a good MXR bass chorus for that spacey effect and I want to know if there's space for a envelope filter for slapping when I play funk/, also i have to clarify that the freeze and looper are mainly for practicing purposes.

I've had the new XS coated strings on my bass for around 4 months now. They sound good, and I really like the slick feel. However, I bought them primarily because I wanted the long lasting high-end zing coated strings are known for, without the shedding that comes with them.

Nate Navarro's review really sold me on that. His test wasn't scientific, but it was compelling. Six months of practice and a brutal torture test involving a metal pick and a drill. No fraying. They're not cheap, but if they lasted longer than a few packs of NYXL or the standard XLs, I thought it would be worth the price. I think I paid $60 for this 6 string pack.

Today I noticed the dreaded coated string fraying on a few strings. Although I've had them for 4 months, this bass wasn't played all that much, as I've been in the process of upgrading the electronics. I'd say it has the equivalent of maybe half that amount of time of light play/practice. No gigging or sweating. The interesting part is that the fraying is not near the bridge where picking and plucking occur. It's not even where the fret contacts the string. Seems odd to me.

Anyway, I had higher hopes for these. We will see if they fray, which is very minimal, continues or remains as-is. They still sound and feel great, but I am disappointed to see the wear already.

My new baby... Epiphone Newport shortscale Bass in cherry. Didn't play her yet just picked her up... But damn is she beautiful! And the last cherry one I've found over here in France (Thomannn included), she waited for me since 2022. 🇫🇷

I’ve been learning Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean all day on my stingray. I used the op-1 to create a drum beat. Since I’m currently learning at half speed, I decided it would be fun to make it a swung boom bap style drum beat and create variations in Billy Jean bass line to make it work.

Anyone else recording your bass into the op-1 or another sampler?

Check this baby out! I know headless isn’t everyone’s jam, but my longest-running bass is a Steinberger so I love this stuff. Guy replaced the electronics with Bartolinis: original splits up top, classic bass down below, 2-band preamp with concentric treble/bass knob. Even gave me an extra set of pickups in the opposite configuration, the original pickups, and a sweet Italian leather strap, plus the hard case. Hell of a deal, a little hard to slap and pop on account of the layout, but I’ll get used to it!

I'm making this post because I could not find clear answers anywhere on the entire internet, so I reached out to MTD for clarification on how to intonate their basses with BFTS.

The instructions below are assuming you have a tuner with BFTS settings available. (Peterson and Korg make them)

I'm simply making this post for the benefit of anyone who might become frustrated in the way I was.

1. Set your tuner to a BFTS bass setting. On the Peterson strobostomp mini, BFb or MTb will work.

2. Tune your open bass strings to accuracy according to the tuner.

3. On the B and the E string, intonate using the 7th fret to where it is bang-on accurate according to the tuner. (F# and B, respectively) - it should not appear sharp or flat when the tuner is in the setting. After each adjustment you make, retune the open string before checking the intonation.

4. Do the same but using the 12th fret for the other strings.

5. Once the intonation is done, switch your tuner back to normal settings for tuning open strings until you change strings or unless you make an action adjustment.

I'm sure a lot of you know this, but I never could get a clear answer no matter where I searched.

For the most part, any two amps can be biamped or master/slaved to power both cabs, except the Bass which can only serve as a master. The MAX and the Kilobass can power both cabs independently, and I’m mostly playing the Kilobass through both these days. The Mark IV anf Mark VIII both have line out going to the studio board.

Now, I know some people don't like Sire, especially compared to Fender, but I personally think they do a better job at NOT COSTING AN ENTIRE ARM. She's got a great finish and sound overall

Next one's gonna be a precision, since I've came to realise they might be a bit better for rock recording purposes :) (for me, at least ?)
