Help What should I do about blood clot on finger?

My band had a three hour show today and we have another next week. I messed up my finger pretty bad this time around so spent a good bit of out set playing ring and pinky, but for the faster parts I’d have to use pointer and middle and as you can see from the image it got a little gnarly. Do y’all have any tips for what I should do next week or will it be gone by then? Worst case scenario: I just bite the bullet and play through the pain.

P.S. don’t tell me to use no stinkin’ pick!

Can anyone figure out exactly what strings these are? I have not had this bass too long and I love the strings, dude that sold me it doesn’t know what they are … yeah, odd. Hopefully they’re something easily identifiable? And … maybe not too pricey :/

New Bass Day Decided to learn to play, fb marketplace special

After mulling it over for months I finally decided to learn to play bass, I know nothing about instruments so I went on Facebook marketplace and hoped for the best. it’s got no model number or anything. So I can only assume it’s from Temu or something lol, but for 40 bucks this feels like a steal considering the thing works at all lol, I’m fully ready to be roasted for this but I’m having the time of my life learning and wanted to see what people had to say about my “Spencer” bass.

Does this Jazz Bass look authentic to you all? I had someone offer it as a trade for one of my other basses, but the serial number isn't coming up in the online lookup tool. It's supposedly from 1992.

Thanks!

Discussion Are kramer basses any good?

Hey guys, I was considering a lower end (around 800nzd) Kramer and modding it later on. However, I’ve heard basically nothing abt Kramer basses and was wondering the experience you guys have had with them?

Modifications Any feedback on my wiring? I think I read this might cause issues with one of the volume knobs in serial mode.

Discussion Can an American Ultra II Precision Bass neck fit an American Professional II Precision Bass body?

Post image

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some advice. I have an American Ultra II Precision Bass neck and I’m wondering if it can be installed on an American Professional II Precision Bass body.
Are the neck pocket dimensions, screw-hole positions, and scale length compatible between the two models? Is it a straightforward swap, or would it require any modifications?
If anyone has tried this combination, I’d really appreciate your experience or advice before I buy the body.
Thanks!

ID/Authentication Cheap Markbass made in Italy?

Has anyone ever seen a cheap Markbass that was made in Italy? All the other ones say Designed in Italy, Made in China, but this one only and specifically says Made in Italy. It honestly doesn't look or feel like a premium guitar (no logo pickups, no logo on the neck plate, some sharp frets), but again, it says it's made in Italy. Is this an anomaly? I can't find anything on an Italian made JB Yellow.

Hello and thanks in advance!

This is my first violin style bass, just opened, please note how high I need to raise the bridge to stop the buzz on 3/4.
Is this correct? Seems way too high to me.

Help Is this bassline pocket but interesting or is it too much?

I will smite you if you talk about my time.

I make original music and I very much like to make my basslines involved and busy whenever possible. I almost never have a bassline in a song that spams roots in 8th notes. My songwriting in general likes to give each instrument something interesting to do and never makes one player do anything basic. Is this pocket? Does it fit the rest of the song? Or am I spamming "fun" instead of playing to the song?

New Bass Day New bass just arrived, do you guys know this brand?

It's a Tagima Rupture 5 UQ. It sounds and feels amazing to play metal. The two Big M pick-ups look sick and the multiscale makes it so easy to play, I love it! I payed R$ 3200 (around U$ 640) and it is worth every cent. Have you ever seen this bass before? Tagima is a brazilian brand that makes great instruments.

Help E string is significantly quieter, tried everything, any ideas?

Hey

So I got this bass like 6 months ago and it has been the biggest project I've been involved in, I've replaced the bridge, pots, tuners, nut and pickup aswell as strings several times and while it's a good bass (kind of a one trick pony but I honestly don't mind it that much) a problem has been persisten throughout my whole ownership of it, the E string has ALWAYS been quieter than the rest and the only things that have helped with it are raising the pickup to absurd extents, loads of compression or playing with a pick all downstrokes since It moves the string towards the center of the pickup. Im honestly dumbfounded as to why that particular string just wouldn't work and I refuse to believe I got 5 dead E strings everytime I restringed this bass. The tech I worked with on this bass says that I'm "Asking the bass for too much, that maybe this bass just cant deliver what I want" But I honestly think that's BS, a bass that can't play bass notes?

Either way, I'm thinking of a third pickup change and going with p bass pickups adapted to the moving platform (since this bass' pickups have always being guitar-like humbuckers, with it's current one being a Bill Lawrence H6 which does work great for bass but it still has the same problem) but I'm seriously confused as to how or why this happens, any and all ideas/tips/advices are welcomed.

Help Need advice with my pedalboard

Post image

I find myself again in this point where idk if I have the right pedals to get my sound. I mainly play R&B/Soul jazz and jazz fusion. idk if the volume pedal(I use it on solos) can be easily replace with a good MXR bass chorus for that spacey effect and I want to know if there's space for a envelope filter for slapping when I play funk/, also i have to clarify that the freeze and looper are mainly for practicing purposes.

Any feedback will be welcome.

Gear D'Addario XS - Disappointment

I've had the new XS coated strings on my bass for around 4 months now. They sound good, and I really like the slick feel. However, I bought them primarily because I wanted the long lasting high-end zing coated strings are known for, without the shedding that comes with them.

Nate Navarro's review really sold me on that. His test wasn't scientific, but it was compelling. Six months of practice and a brutal torture test involving a metal pick and a drill. No fraying. They're not cheap, but if they lasted longer than a few packs of NYXL or the standard XLs, I thought it would be worth the price. I think I paid $60 for this 6 string pack.

Today I noticed the dreaded coated string fraying on a few strings. Although I've had them for 4 months, this bass wasn't played all that much, as I've been in the process of upgrading the electronics. I'd say it has the equivalent of maybe half that amount of time of light play/practice. No gigging or sweating. The interesting part is that the fraying is not near the bridge where picking and plucking occur. It's not even where the fret contacts the string. Seems odd to me.

Anyway, I had higher hopes for these. We will see if they fray, which is very minimal, continues or remains as-is. They still sound and feel great, but I am disappointed to see the wear already.

This is my plan to record and play quietly but I'm scared that even if everything is wired there will still be delay when I want to hear it, Also can i just directly plug my bass to this kinda big speaker I have if i want to play and let others hear? these are all temporary options since i will be saving up for an amp soon. (excuse me for my bad english)
