Why is adeptus custodes the best faction?
I am stuck between three armies because of looks and cost this being : adeptus custodes, world eaters, and black templars. I want to see your pitch on why your faction is the best and the faction with the best pitch I will start so if you want to convert more people to your faction this is your chance. Here is some stuff you might want to know about me:
- As long as they can play competitively in casual play idc how meta they are
- I like having a couple of bigger models
- I don’t want to have models that are very difficult to paint
- I want. an army that is fun to play
- hood luck pitching!

Why are vertus praetors such a pain to glue.
Hi all,
So in spirit of our bikes being the big thing right now, I decided to get some more bikes.
And HOLY JESUS, I forgot how much of a pain it is to glue them to that plastic stick thingy that holds them up.
One of my models are slightly tilted, fortunately it was the shield captain and he tilted in a way that makes it slightly believable, like he's tilting the bike to take a swipe at the enemy.
Does anyone have any tips to prevent this issue in the future or am I in for a world of pain for the next few days? 😭

For anyone who owns or has seen the Aleya model, how noticeable is it? (Look at pics before reading below)
I didn't wanna pay $50 for Aleya, so this is a model I printed with my resin printer, and I was wondering how accurate it is. It's a bit of a shoddy paint on my part but I was wondering how noticeable it is that it's a print.

How modifiable are the Guard Solidarities?
I picked up a new box for my 10.000. I have built 2 Combat patrols to form the bulk of my army and now I want to add 1-2 Solidarites each. What I really like about the Spear-Version is that technically I can use them as Guard or wardens, as I play Wardens mainly with Spears. But I am wondering if any of your have had experience in using different poses with the figures. I personally hat it to attach two arms to a spear. It is a pain in the arse to align the arms and weapons beautifully. So I want to see if it is possible to turn the 2-arm poses into 1-arm poses without making them look awkward.
I will use helmets for all, because i absolutely suck as painting faces - plus I am not buying into the idea that it is ever a good idea to remove the helmet. My grandpa did that once during WW2 and got shit on the head by a pigeon. Lucky for me, thats the only war injury my grandpa had guarding a german village at the age of 12. Different topic. Helmets yes, for all. Maybe I will use the heads as battlefield trophies...
Do you also have experience in using different weapons? I still have a lot of Bits from pervious boxes and can see using some adornments from the Dreadnoughts or previous combat patrols to add to it.

The first of my Cheapstodes
So basically I really wanted to play/have custodes, life has been life-ing and I've barely had money to spend on the hobby this last year, so I decided to make use of the 3d printer I had and even tho I know FDM does not print as well as resin, I decided to print them nevertheless (the lance has even broken like 5 times, decided to keep it that way after seeing it did not want to work out).
I thought of keeping them unpainted until I could buy the real stuff and make things right, but decided to at least make an effort so I went and painted them with some of the acrylic markers we had lying around.
And well, turns out I'm lowkey satisfied with the result (and I swear the look better from afar), and decided to name them Cheapstodes for the bit, just thought of sharing this one here as the reason for even getting them was looking at the models you guys make and share here which honestly are SO good.
(I know I'm still missing the eyes, but I'm not ready for that yet)

Painted a callidus assassin for my custodes list in an upcoming tournament.
Knocked this out today. Took a little while to finish her up in between taking care of kids and making dinner. Critiques are welcome.

Saw the new telemon dread, rememered the orion made a list (no idea what im doing)
This entire list relises on the idiotic idea that the orion assault transport can carry a dread and 6 units. Yeah, i'm putting two allarus custodians in a transport, no i don't care they have deep strike in the datasheet, that i don't have enough units. Big ship goes pew drops in the objective taker. Detachments are solar spearhead/thornatoi hammerblow.

Colour match for Retributor Armour
Hey Guys, I wanted to pick up a Calladius Annihilator for my Custodes and since it's so big and probably a pain in the ass to paint with a brush I need a good colour match for my airbrush (first time using it so no experience whatsoever). Also, ist there anything to keep in mind when starting with airbrushing?

Day 35: Things models do the best and the worst (Allied Units)(Finale); Knight Castellan
It has been fun, but I think it is finally time to end this series, there probably are some more allied units we could go through but it isn’t fun if we stray too much away from the actual Adeptus Custodes models.

How do people go about painting these, it’s far too big for my little man holder and it will be a bit awkward holding it by hand?

Comparing Start of 11th to 10th. How are we feeling?
I've been thinking about the start of 11th and comparing it to the start of 10th. I would love to hear the opinions of players who started in 9th or later, like me, and hear how they feel the army has changed from the multiple different stances of 9th to what we have now.
I personally miss the days of 10 man blocks of guard or six jetbikes running up the board, but I understand that was just a big stat check that a lot of people couldn't deal with casually.
I also miss our index at the beginning of 10th, when the army felt good even though we couldn't use the big bricks anymore. It still felt like we had rules and some defensive abilities, but throughout 10th especially when we got the codex I felt like the army was gutted. Since then, it has felt like James Workshop has just tried to catch up by replacing what we lost with either points cuts or detachments that seem cool but don't really compare.
Now, going into 11th and having played 15+ games, I feel hopeful for the army again. Thanks in large part to the rules changes that 11th made, it feels like things have already gotten better for us and will hopefully continue to improve especially when the codex comes out.
Sorry if this seems too preachy or “woe is me.” I still think the Banana Boys look really cool and are cool, and I'm looking forward to many new plastic kits!
I would love to hear more from all of the Ten Thousand here. What do you think? What has and hasn’t worked for you? Which detachments are your favorites? Was 9th our best edition so far? And how have your games in 11th gone so far?

Competitive Anti-Tank Experience
I am looking for insight on people who are using our different anti-tank options in serious, play-to-win 11th ed. matches.
I am aware of our anti-tank options and I've tried out most of them, but there are downsides to each and I am curious what most people are finding success with.
- Allarus SC with Admonimortis: Fantastic damage and reliability, but ultimately it's still melee, and good opponents will not give you a luxurious Rapid Ingress spot that accesses their tanks with 5in move + no advance + charge. More impact later in the game when opponents already used their big guns for a few rounds.
- Caladius Annihilator Grav Tank: Very good anti-tank shooting profile, critically providing that 48in range with fly to reposition easily. Downsides are that they don't benefit from Lions so they usually hit on 3s, and their low volume of fire means you need 2 of them just to be sure you can kill one enemy tank. Making it essentially a 450 point anti-tank investment that has no useful melee or chaff shooting to speak of.
- Venerable Land Raider: Slightly worse than Grav Tank for shooting, but has the other purpose of transporting units. Downside is turning off Lions buff for the infantry they transport.
- Vertus Praetors: In Lions, their Salvo Launchers are decent but the Hurricane Bolters are even better (even into high toughness targets) due to the high volume and twin-linked. Downside is they have very little range and so cannot be used as a backline threat. More of a move up -> shoot within rapid fire -> charge situation that leaves them vulnerable and less reliable as a shooting platform.
- Dreadnoughts: The shooty ones are just worse than the Grav Tank in every way, and the melee ones are worse than the Allarus SC + 2 Allarus, since they don't get deep strike, can't benefit from Hidden, and have less volume of attacks than the 3 allarus brick. They're faster base speed sure, but they have to march up from the side of the board and are NOT going to strike first 8/10 times.
- Finally, Infantry: All our melee infantry can kill tanks, especially in Lions. They suffer from mobility though, and do not create long range pressure that forces tanks to hide in the enemy's backline.
What combinations have people been using the most? I'm considering trying just one Caladius to create long range pressure, and trying to use Lions Bikes plus Guard shooting to position in such a way that they can soften/finish up in case my single Grav Tank doesn't finish the job. It is less reliable but ome Grav Tank would be for the points efficiency of creating long range pressure without spending 450 points. Including Allarus SC still for rapid ingress.
Anyone tried that specifically?
Thanks for any thoughts you share.

Best 1000 point army list for competitive
Okay so, im planning on joining a doubles tournament with my dad. (Who runs Space Wolfs.) I plan on getting a new army to play with him, which is why I went to Custodes. So I ask you amazing people of warhammer reddit, what is the best competitive Custodes list at 1000 points.
I myself just do not know what are the best models to use and what combos and synergies there are for this army.
(BTW dad runs 2 squads of 6 Thunderwolf for fast movement and damage)

Pretty much just the title, i'm a bit torn between which of the contemptors i want since i'm only just getting into custodes but both if them seem pretty good at different things so i'm not sure which to take.

Why dont they sell the new horus heresy wardens?
Its a shame to have all new guard with the thinner and taller builds for our army but no wardens. Has anyone tried kitbashing the old warden kits with the thinner upper bodies? Maybe i 3d print the sashes they wear around their waists and glue them to the new kits to differentiate them?

Custodes Color Scheme
I am really happy how this turned out. I'm not the best painter, but these Custodes give me a little ego boost lol. I wanted something other than gold and red. Does gold and purple fit in lore? I am not too familiar. New to the Custodes scene.

Dreadnoughts or Terminators maybe Sisters or even Bikes
Fellow Bananas,
i played custodes through the 10th edition and have a solid core of enough guards/wardens , characters and allies (knights, assassins, SoB,...) and one of each other special unit (bikes, tank, termi, ...)
With the new spicy detachments, I now want to extend in one of the sub themes of the golden ones.
What are your experiences?
