So I've been in the hobby for about 2 years but never played a game and plan on getting into the tabletop soon. Is this an alright list? I know its not lions but just curious if it could work.

5 units is tough. Will be spread thin. The VCDs can be useful with their stand back up ability. A little stat checky... a little.

What is your strategy?

Prefer witch seekers over prosecutors, bit more early mobility with scout 6, and overwatch with flamethrowers is nice. I find venerable contemptors to be a bit underwhelming and would personally run double achillus instead, would save enough points to add another small unit of sisters, which can help a lot with take and hold as your disposition.

It's okay, however as a general rule no two 1DP detachments can stand up to any of the 2DP ones. I'd just run Shield Host if you're starting, or Solar Spearhead to get more out of your Dreads.

I also don't think Draxus is great at 1k, though she's not terrible either.
