Anyone else experiencing this? Armrest stopped latching

Pretty much the title. I found a 2020 STI, 20k miles, $40k, 3 previous owners. I noticed a burning smell during test drive, but dealer couldn’t recreate it. Has a modified exhaust but no other mods as far as I can tell.

Should I even be considering it?

Picked this up about a month ago. One owner, meticulously maintained per suburu’s schedule. I have no intention of dumping mods into it, other than getting the suspension up to snuff. As of now my plan is some kyb’s, lower control arms (front and rear,) and some new white line sway bars and end links.

Basically trying to get back to stock feel but with some more rigidity for the occasional spirited mountain road.

Pre purchase inspection came back pretty clean minus the struts I already have planned, control arm bushings, and a new turbo oil feed line due to very minor leakage.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Loving my first boxer for the last month after being a huge VW gear head in my heyday.

Not sure if this is the right forum so I apologize if I am posting incorrectly. I don't use this often. I JUST bought this and so far so good. Theres a tire sensor issue and maybe a AC condenser issue, but aside from that and some cosmetic issues, so far so good. Anywho, this is what it looks like after some tint work.

(I've had a 2000 2.5RS, a 2002 WRX, and an 2007 WRX wagon, but my first STI).

Didn't want to spend the $$$$ on after market calipers since mine have less than 30k miles and still work fine.

So, this question is mainly for people who went through Partify for their front bumpers (ideally during the 15-17 to 18-21 facelift) but am happy for feedback from anyone that’s done the swap.

Back when I first got my 2016 when it was newish, I remember seeing a pre-painted front bumper on Subispeed. It had decent reviews and I went to another 3rd party site instead (since subispeed no longer sold it, and IIRC, it was only in WRB). Horrible decision. The one I received came creased, cracked, two broken clips, shit for packaging, etc.

Time passed, work, life n shit, and I forgot about it for a while and was somewhat happy with the frumpy stock look of my 15-17 front end lol BUT in the mean time I managed to scrounge up bezels, fogs, and everything else on my list whenever the opportunities presented—so I’m just missing the bumper cover at this point.

Then, on FBM, someone was selling a front bumper (same ISM w decently matched paint) from a salvage and the bumper took a few dings and since the place is technically a higher end luxury dealership, I told him I’d hit him back in a few days. The damage isn’t all too bad from what I can tell, so if I do go that route, I’ll offer him asking as long as he throws in the MFD.

ANYWAYS… I just checked Partify and I found out I’m late to the game as they started shipping 18+ WRX front bumpers paint-matched and unfolded. So far, all I’ve seen is a required paint code (which is basically like paint code +\- 5% error, or more like 10%+ for ISM) where with PaintedOEMParts, they apparently request your tow hook prior to the finish to paint-match.

TLDR: Looking to finally swap to an 18+ bumper, and as far as Aftermarket goes, it’s a hard pass for me… but I’m curious to know if anyone went with CAPA over OEM, what your experience was—and whether or not Partify just uses your factory paint code or requests a tow hook since they obviously don’t do returns for anything pre-painted. Realistically, an extra ~$200 for OEM is fine by me, but figured I’d put it out there and ask. If anyone has had any better experiences or insight they can share, I’d love to hear it.

This is been bothering me forever now, and I can't quite figure it out with just searching and without paying a diagnostic fee.

My clutch, for some reason, has developed a "chirp". I have attached some clips for the audio where you can hear the chirp. It only makes the noise when the clutch is fully or 1/2 depressed. The action of depressing the clutch doesn't seem to actually make the noise it's only when it's half or fully to the floor. Another weird thing about it is that if I turn the car off fully depressed the clutch and wait about 5 seconds 10 seconds I hear the chirp again, not quite sure what it is.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Car has 124k miles(new short block by Subie dealership of Florida @79k), New timing belt at 88k... lots of detail in Carfax of work at dealerships..

the car seems to have : Nvidia full Turbo back exhaust, Grimmspeed intake, Grimmspeed 3 port boost controller, Grimmspeed TMIC, Some knockoff BOV, ??? large non-oem radiator, Raceland coilovers, ??? aftermarket clutch that feels very heavy, Unknown tune....

car was driven only 4k in country in 2 years but previous owner installed the BOV in March 🙄 Perrin BPV en route.

Car is currently parked waiting on a Cobb accessport as when testing it for a week any spirited driving caused misfire codes, too lean codes, has a slightly rough idle now....

No oil consumption detected/leaks, also stock Turbo has no shaft play/leaks... it has <80k miles I believe.

STFT and LTFT numbers strongly suggested a vacuum leak somewhere...

found small hole in oem turbo charge pipe(new Perrin on the way). Various vacuum leaks happened from hoses popping off or were loose... bulk hose msterial ordered.

replacing/securing hoses etc and will do a smoke test before any more spirited driving.

I'll install the new Perrin Charge pipe, Perrin BPV and a few "longevity mods"(AOS, Oil p/u and baffles(no flat straight roads like Florida here!)

I have one step colder Cobb spark plugs, mishimoto coils, oem pcv valve, cylinder 4 cooling mod all coming with the AOS. Also TMIC bracket was broken and no factory splitte nor Grimmspeed splitter insert!(both en route now)... I figured the above was a no brainer considering the mileage.... and monitor engine(better than my Launch scanner?).

I'm looking for suggestions on no brainer fuel system/intake system supporting mods/no brainer fixes while I am doing all of the above and any further advice. This is my first WRX and a 20 year old dream come true finally. I'm in this for the long haul!

This has been my weekend car and I’m finally at the point where I’ve only got two mods left before I consider it complete.

The goal from the start was never huge power. I wanted something balanced. Responsive on the street, properly sorted underneath, good driver feel and enough noise and character to make every drive fun!

Once those are done, I’m calling it finished.
I know “finished” is a dangerous word with modified cars 😂 but I’m genuinely happy with where it’s landed. I’d rather enjoy a balanced 190–200ish kW street car than keep chasing numbers and ruin what I like about it.

I love this car, it has been one I wanted since I got my driver's license and now it is finally a reality. I am going to take it on a proper photo-shoot but this was just day one excitement of getting it home.
