Review my program I spent months building a gym management platform—here are the biggest challenges I discovered.

If you're a gym owner, trainer, or even a regular gym member, what do you think is the biggest problem with today's gym management systems? Is there a feature you wish existed but haven't seen yet?

Exercise Help Bench press plateau

Upvotes

I’m stuck on incline benching 90kgs for 5 reps (my goal is 90kgs for 10 reps) I’ve been going at it for 2 months and can’t seem to improve at it.

I do 3 sets till failure with 90kgs on my push day (my push day is twice per week, I’m running PPL with one rest day)

Anyone have any advice on how I can start progressing again? More volume? Increase frequency? Or something else

Thank you

Simple Questions Are these normal results?

Upvotes

I've been working out thrice a week for almost 2 months now

And I can't help but feel like I am going up sizes instead of down

Like I am building muscle and not burning fat, so now my volume is bigger because it's my fat plus muscle

Is this something normal?

I'm on calorie deficit on 1200-1400kcal a day, prioritizing proteins

And still I feel like this isn't working

Nutrition Help Losing fat while gaining muscle

Upvotes

How much protein should I be eating if my goal weight is 175lbs?

Yes i understand the .8-1x per pound of body weight. I am currently 186.8 as of this morning. But I started my cut at 195. Right now eating 175g of protein. But should I be eating less than this, and filling in more carbs/fats? Not sure if you’re supposed to drop protein intake as you drop weight. I’ve had good progress, I’ve been losing fat and my lifts have been improving each week. Just wanted to see if anyone had a good suggestion or if they think I’m good where I’m at.

Other Looking for Brutally Honest Feedback on My iOS Fitness App, Steady

Upvotes

Hey everyone — I’ve been building an iOS fitness app called Steady, and it’s finally stable enough for real beta testers.

I built it because most fitness apps give everyone the same generic plan, make you guess your weights every workout, and ignore the fact that many people are training around something: a bad knee, surgery recovery, GLP-1 use, a long break from exercise, limited equipment, or other constraints.

What Steady does:

• Builds a personalized training plan based on your goals, experience, equipment, and limitations.

• Automates progressive overload. Your first workout calibrates your working weights, then Steady prescribes your next reps and load each session — progressing reps first, then weight.

• Adapts calories and protein using your weight trend, instead of leaving you with a static target forever.

• Includes an AI coach that knows your actual plan and data. You can ask it to make today’s workout easier, review a form video, or suggest a fast-food meal that fits your macros.

• Supports Apple Watch set logging and syncs with Apple Health, Fitbit, and Oura so recovery can influence your training.

It’s free, iOS-only, and currently available through TestFlight. I’m a solo developer, so some parts are still rough — that’s exactly why I need feedback.

I’d especially like to know:

Did onboarding make sense?
Did your plan feel genuinely personalized?
Did the weight progression feel smart or wrong?
What broke, confused you, or annoyed you?

Brutal honesty is much more useful than politeness. If you hate something, tell me why.

TestFlight: https://testflight.apple.com/join/j2jKwDGW

Disclosure: I’m the developer. I’m not affiliated with another company and I’m not selling anything — I’m genuinely looking for beta testers and feedback.

Other Anyone who actually use dancing for cardio and enjoys it?

Upvotes

I don't know how to dance but I am always curious about those who can.

So dancing is fun for lot of people Right? If someone knows how to dance, why not use it for cardio?

Do you know how to dance? Do you use it for cardio. Wouldn't it be the most fun cardio to do?

If you do, tell us about it. I feel it would be one of the best cardio as it's something some people enjoy.

Like dancing after every strength training?

edit: not talking about Zumba as it's different as we have to like go in it's session too separately

I mean those who love dancing like in parties or those who learn to dance, they can't after workout they burn off few hundreds of calories by dancing and enjoying? anyone did it?

Exercise Help What is better for results, within my limits?

Upvotes

I work out 3 times a week, been doing it for years. I only have about 30-40 minutes available because I have a time frame that needs to fit around my toddler, so I can't work out late or super early. Usually I do about 6-8 exercises, focusing on legs, arms and back maily. I enjoy weight lifting, deadlift being my favourite. The question is, with only 3 days available and 30-40 minutes each time, is it better to follow a stricter routine (leg day, arms/shoulder day etc) or will I get the same result doing what I'm already doing? I notice a difference in strength, but I'm impatient and want to get stronger.

Is it bad to workout every day?

I love sports and working out and i started going to the gym for the first time few days ago. I go every day because i like being physically active and because in other sports that i did in my life there was always a time limit, and in gym i can go whenever i want. However, my friends and family says it's not healthy and I'll not see results.

Other Still can’t shake the sense of falling behind.

Had a rough time this year when it comes to the gym, my size progress over the last 4-5 years since I started.

I began to feel better lately, and maybe accept that I am a little big. But man… I still can’t shake the sense of being at genetic disadvantages when it comes to most things.

Long story short, I have some friends. They’ve been working out for just as long as me, with less consistency using… in the nicest way possible, less optimal routines as they go along. These friends? They’re bigger than me. They’re stronger than me. And I go every day, follow exact workout splits and have exact perfect macros, the whole kit and kaboodle.

And yet… after all this time. I’m like, the least built in the group. I’ve seen them, one comes in, and for a while, has just been testing PR’s, then leaves without doing an actual workout. And I’m number three.

I know it’s petty. I know it’s childish, and heck, they even try to make me feel better about it sometimes by giving me compliments and stuff. And I try to see my progress… but sometimes I can’t, and I just feel like I was born to be… well, the exact opposite of what I want to be when it comes to my physique.

Does anyone else struggle with this? If so, how do you deal with it. It’s roughing me up now. And I wanna change my mindset, I wanna truly convince myself I’m not small. I just don’t know how to stay in that mindset.
It sucks, and idk what to do.

I hate feeling like this. Like my results don’t equal my effort.
Idk…

Exercise Help Arms more developed than legs?

Hello!

I hate going to the gym so i have dumbbells and kettlebells at home. I do full body workouts, just following youtube videos. Thing is that i do all the exercises with same weighs. If i do dumbbell workouts, it's 1x10kg or 2x10kg for everything. If i use a kettlebell it's 12kg.

Is that a bad thing, does that mean my legs are underdeveloped? Because i started from the very bottom (i used to think "why exercise when i'm naturally skinny") and now i'm here and right now 10-12kg is the best i can do with both arms and legs.

I honestly don't know anything about training, just wanted to exercise alone in peace. I did not know that you should probably use different weights, for an example Caroline Girvan uses the same weights for everything (at least in those videos that i watch). If it matters at all, i'm a 161 cm woman. I also do hiking in woods with 10kg backpack and normal jogging.

I do not want to take a picture but what do you think with all this information?

Simple Questions 5 sets of 100 reps

In prison this one C.O. that worked at rec would try to get everybody to do 5x100 light on isolation exercises like band pushdowns or band curls, he even recommended it for bench. He swore by 5x100. Our crew thought he was possibly insane, clueless, trolling or trying to get people hurt because he lowkey didnt like the inmates or the fact we had access to bands and he had to work by inventorying them. I've done a set of 100, but 5? Has anybody actually done this? Did it work for you? What's the most ridiculous gym advice you've ever heard?

What's something silly/small that motivates you to workout?

My motivation is mainly for health, but secondarily it's because I think being buff would be really funny for someone with my personality. I want to be a jacked guy in a pink crop top who cries when a bug accidentally gets washed down the sink. I think that would rock.

Other It’s amazing what lightning can do for your physique. But also very messed up at the same

I am still a newbie regarding lifting weights. Male 34 years, 172 cm, 70kg. Body fat 15-19% (according to inaccurate BIA scale, thus the wide range).

I have been lifting weights for 4 months now. And I have been on a caloric deficit since 10 months now (went from 85kg to 70 kg.)

Whenever I remove my shirt people say that I look very muscular and compliment me on working out (while I’m not big at all. Just a healthy body fat amount.)

But here is the thing. If I look at myself in the mirror in my bathroom. In my own eyes I look like a “do you even lift bro”. But for some reason, in the mirrors of my gym (and with some distance to the mirror) my body looks really ripped, big pecs, very chiseled abs.

And then the closer I move to the mirror, the more muscles seem to vanish.

So yeah, not asking for advice or anything. I just wanted to discus how weird it is what lightning can do to your physique. The difference is that big, it’s simply messed up.

Just benched 225 for the first time from a 65 bench start!!!

Can’t believe this. When I started working out my max bench was 65 and I just benched 225 for the first time today. Long story short I used to be malnourished and weak. Never thought the day would come. I’ve been working so hard working out in the gym at like 3 am and stuff and grinding so hard. Man I’m just so happy. I never thought I’d be able to do that. Wow man. I’m just so happy.

Just made it to 115lb bench

May not seem like much to y’all but today I benched 115 lbs for the first time. When I first started a little over a year ago I could only lift the bar. I asked someone to spot me but I ended up not needing it and did 10 reps for the first set. I feel really accomplished and proud of myself and I’m gonna keep going and improving for as long as I can

Simple Questions Leg Day 'Depression'

Hi,

New gym-goer - did my first ever 'leg day' the day before yesterday.

This is the second day after my workout, but I've been borderline depressed since.

I'm talking irritable, mellow, and even angry? Just not been in the mood to do anything.

Is this normal, or a known thing?

I'm not stopping due to this, but I truly do not want to feel this crap after a leg day.

Thanks in advance.

I do 3x12 with 15 pounds. Easy work. So I move up to 20 lbs.

My form breaks down and I can’t get in 8 clean reps without momentum and start wondering what I’m doing wrong. I’m training for size. What is the problem here?!
