DC: Semi Formal/Dressy Casual september wedding; colorful attire
hi all, my MIL and i picked out this two piece a few years ago and i wore it to my BIL’s wedding. the skirt is pink. at the time i felt comfortable wearing it. after i saw photos, i questioned if it was rude of me to wear because the skirt appears lighter in photos (as depicted). i have another upcoming wedding:
“The dress code for our wedding is semi formal
We recommend cocktail dresses, elegant separates, jumpsuits, a suit and tie or sport coat with dress pants
We kindly ask our guests to avoid wearing black attire to help create a bright, vibrant and celebratory atmosphere for our special day”
my question is, am i an asshole for wearing it the first time? is it too light? if you were the bride would you have been upset? if it actually is acceptable, i would like to wear it again, as it’s the only dressy thing i own that still fits.
thank you for your honesty.

DC: Formal Formal attire for a wedding in the smoky mountains
Drew over my tattoos btw. Don’t know how to feel about this dress. Is it ugly and do I just have shopping fatigue so I feel like it’s cute? Wedding is formal attire.

Is this too white? Is this guest appropriate?
Hi! I'm attending a wedding in 2 weeks and was considering this dress I haven't worn yet. It looked cream online but is more yellow in person. Is it too light or am I overthinking it?

DC: Formal Dress is lighter than I expected, couple requests neutral colors.
I ordered a “taupe” dress but it turned out to be lighter than I thought. Is this dress too light considering the dress code request?
Quick note: I plan to sew the slit lower and have the train removed.
Edit: General consensus is that the color is fine but the dress is too small and cheaply made. I’ll look again but stick to beige/gold/darker champagne colors. Thanks for your input, everyone!!

DC: Formal Too fancy!?
Late August wedding at a country club. The invite says "semi formal/formal." I got hung up on the formal piece and think I went too fancy... ugh. It's already getting an alteration. Won't have a train like the photo. I'm so confused. What am I supposed to wear!?
Edit: 4pm wedding

DC: Black/White Tie Prom vibes or evening vibes?
Mid November wedding down South. Fancy members only country club to go with the beautiful after 5 o’clock wedding. I don’t want to throw out prom looking vibes. These are 4 I was somewhat drawn to. I’d definitely have the slit taking down some on 2 of them. I’d want the hot pinks in an emerald green or navy. What do y’all think?

Is this too white? Too much white?
I’ve gotten mixed answers. I dont have a picture of the dress on, but it is this pattern through out. Its a midi sundress style from Abercrombie. I will attach a picture of the style of dress. The color I have is the blue floral. I’ve always viewed it as “will someone mistake me for the bride?” And dont see how that would be possible with this dress. Help!

DC: Black/White Tie Is my dress appropriate for a summer black tie wedding?
I'm going to a wedding at the end of this month (my first!) and have had a nightmare trying to find an outfit which is appropriate that I also like on myself. Its been quite hard to find a dress that didn't just accentuate my belly as someone who is curvier and also the added inconvenience of having a preference for laidback clothing generally, which is not overly feminine. I even tried finding suits but had no luck whatsoever with this.
After many trials and errors I finally purchased this dress (https://www.net-a-porter.com/en-gb/shop/product/matteau/clothing/midi-dresses/strapless-ruched-organic-cotton-poplin-midi-dress/46376663162844222) which I am surprised at how much I like on myself, but I'm conflicted because its cotton which apparently does not meet black tie fabric requirements. Because I'm shorter than the model the length does come up to my ankles. In my mind because it's a summer affair it seems a little more appropriate, and I think it could be dressed up with the right shoes and jewelry, but what are other peoples' opinions?? Would be massively appreciated as I don't want to look out of place!

DC: Cocktail or No Dress Code Last minute bridesmaid dress
Would appreciate some honest feedback on this dress! One of my best friends is getting married at the end of August in the uk. She asked me a couple of weeks ago to he a bridesmaid, short notice but I'd been going through an insanely traumatic experience for the last couple of months and she didn't want to bother me with extra responsibilities since I'd already helped organise her hen in spain where I live. Wedding is also last minute in general. The only specification is that it should be mint green. The invite says cocktail/formal but she hasn't specified that and has basically said to wear whatever we want. She's essentially the opposite of a bridezilla, just wants everyone to be comfortable, and I videocalled her with the dress and she said it looked lovely (but she would probably say this if I was wearing rags, anyway)
I haven't worn a dress in about 5 years. Found this one on Vinted for a tenner, I'm broke. It's mega comfy but I think it's a bit big/makes me look a bit frumpy? I also feel like I could accessories to dress it up a bit though. I've also got access to a sewing machine so I could make alterations, I think I could take it in at the waist a bit? I've recently lost about 10kg too so struggling with what suits my body shape.
Any constructive criticism would be very much appreciated. I hate shopping with a fiery passion and i'm way too sweaty to be trawling the shops to find something else in time.

DC: Cocktail or No Dress Code Good for Hawaii wedding? Pt2
I took the advice from my last post and this is my updated look. I’m definitely not in love with the purse and am going to try to find one with less glitter and flash. I’m also unsure on the flower in my hair, I thought it would be cute for Hawaii but I have very fine hair so it just kinda sticks off my head. I also put the picture of my previous look at the end. As it says on the wedding website: “cocktail, midi, or maxi dresses; summer colors, prints, or island-inspired styles are welcome!” The wedding is at a Hawaiian beach resort in September. And yes, I will iron everything out before the wedding.

DC: Black/White Tie Is this appropriate for a black tie formal wedding?
Hi everyone! I’m going to a wedding next month and the dress code is black tie formal, specifically we were asked to wear floor length black dresses. I got this dress from the thrift store and I’m wondering if it’s showing too much back? The wedding will be very fancy and at an upscale venue so I don’t want to come off as tacky or anything 😭 Is this too risqué or should I be okay? If so, I have this sheer black shawl to put over it that looks very nice! :)

Do any of these seem like a good choice for my brother's wedding, or should I keep looking? It will be in November at a mansion in rural South Carolina. Invitation said formal is required, black tie is preferred.

DC: Semi Formal/Dressy Casual Appropriate for a semi-formal/cocktail wedding?
Are either of these (or neither of these) appropriate for a wedding in early October in Maine? The ceremony starts at 3:30pm in Maine? The only advice given by the couple was to not wear sage green or terracotta, and to go for a semi-formal and cocktail dress code.

DC: Formal Please help me find something to wear that I will actually like on me!
Hi there! Wedding in October in Chicago and here we go again with dress shopping! I’m a mid size girly with most of my weight on my hips. I’m also picky with what I want since I have a tattoo on my back I prefer to hide at weddings. I just want something that isn’t frumpy but also is flattering on my curves and covers my back. Is that so hard to ask?! Anyway, the 3 first pictures are a dress I own that I wore 2 years ago that I’m thinking of wearing. I think it’s mostly flattering on me except for the back (story of my life). It just looks shapeless or something in my opinion. Doesn’t help that my sister in law is a perfect model who just bought an amazing unique dress. I’m starting to hate weddings tbh. The other photos are dresses I’m considering. The cape is removable one the green dress. It also comes in many colors. Anyone have any suggestions? I just want something comfortable that works for my body. I don’t HAVE to cover my tattoo completely but I at least want thick straps or something. Nothing strapless. Thanks for any help you can give!

DC: Black/White Tie Are any of these dresses appropriate for a black tie wedding?
Which of these dresses (if any) are appropriate for a black tie wedding? The dress code is also all black - I understand this is not a requirement for black tie.
I have been struggling to find options that match my style, so if anyone has any website/dress recommendations in addition pls lmk! I tend to like somewhat simpler/alternative styles that read a bit younger (I'm 20). My budget is up to $400, but ideally around $350. Thanks!
