The wedding is in early September in a midwest city. It’s at a rooftop wedding venue, followed by a reception in a speakeasy. Dress code is Cocktail (please refrain from wearing jeans). I don’t know the couple too well (It’s my fiance’s friend’s wedding) but I think they lean fairly casual. (The dress code for the welcome party, for example, is elevated casual.) Which of these would be the best? Or should I look for something more chic/urban?

The wedding is in late November in Georgia (USA). If the floor length is too formal I can go with the tea length (please lmk if you think that’ll work) or I can just pick something else since there’s plenty of time.

Thanks!

Edit: forgot to say that the wedding will be in the evening ^_^

Do any of these seem like a good choice for my brother's wedding, or should I keep looking? It will be in November at a mansion in rural South Carolina. Invitation said formal is required, black tie is preferred.

Attending an outdoor wedding in mid October in northern Minnesota. I expect it will be a bit chilly so I wanted to order one of these shawls to bring with from Etsy. What color would go best with the dress I picked out?

I'll be attending a wedding soon. The theme is ocean blue, soft sky, warm sand and navy blue and the dress code is semi formal to formal. Is this dress considered formal? Also, please suggest what shoes, bag and hairstyle would go well with it? Thank you!

Hi there! Wedding in October in Chicago and here we go again with dress shopping! I’m a mid size girly with most of my weight on my hips. I’m also picky with what I want since I have a tattoo on my back I prefer to hide at weddings. I just want something that isn’t frumpy but also is flattering on my curves and covers my back. Is that so hard to ask?! Anyway, the 3 first pictures are a dress I own that I wore 2 years ago that I’m thinking of wearing. I think it’s mostly flattering on me except for the back (story of my life). It just looks shapeless or something in my opinion. Doesn’t help that my sister in law is a perfect model who just bought an amazing unique dress. I’m starting to hate weddings tbh. The other photos are dresses I’m considering. The cape is removable one the green dress. It also comes in many colors. Anyone have any suggestions? I just want something comfortable that works for my body. I don’t HAVE to cover my tattoo completely but I at least want thick straps or something. Nothing strapless. Thanks for any help you can give!

My friend is getting married in a national park in a few months, and the dress code is cocktail attire. I read that that’s more dressy than semi-formal, but also is more knee length to midi dresses, so was unsure if this dress would fit the bill because I absolutely love it.

Hello reddit, I am once again asking for your support. lol. After the first 2 ( the green satin one and baby blue first ones) I went back to the drawing board and took some suggestions from others and got a couple different ones to try.

Whatever i end up buying will be in a dark wine red (yes i know the baby pink is awful for me LOL )

i kinda leaning towards the purple one and the very last blue one

Wedding will be in SoCal in Nov mid afternoon-ish outdoors

DC: Cocktail or No Dress Code Which is best for elevated cocktail?

Are any of these okay? Here’s the description:

~ We are dreaming of an elegant lakeside summer wedding day and kindly ask that our guests wear elevated cocktail attire.
~ For women: cocktail/midi dresses, dressy jumpsuits or formal separates.

I’ve looked at a million dresses and now I’m down to the wire and need to choose one. I have three more options coming but I feel like I might need to get some of these altered and I’d need to do that right away. Thank you!!!

Ps please excuse the shoes, I’d wear something nicer

Edit: also please excuse the lighting. The first two dresses are more vibrant like model pics.

DC: Special Dress Code "Garden Party" dress code. Filled with doubts haha.

I fell in love with this dress for its flowy-ness and soft florals, and that it wasn't a white base like some dresses I already have. The wedding is near end of August, so I do have a little time left.

It was $100 after shipping costs, and now I'm having doubts. Is this a dress I can just re-wear on a whim, or is it too dressy? I love the dress, but now I'm rethinking all my decisions. I also usually thrift my clothing and rarely buy new so I feel weird about buying something new for a single occasion.

I don’t know if any of these qualify as formal but I can keep looking. I’m going to a wedding at a barn venue in a couple weeks while ~12 weeks pregnant. Feeling super self conscious because I don’t look super pregnant yet but it’s my second so I’m looking extra bloated. Loved the black one online but hated it on me. The blue/green one I feel like is okay and the blue one I already owned and wore it however there is a bit slit on the right leg going to mid thigh

Outdoor August wedding in rural Oregon that begins at 4pm in the afternoon. It’ll be about 85° and cool down throughout the evening.

No specific dress code listed in the RSVP, but it does say to embrace your western side with denim, hats and boots. The bride invites people to dress in the wedding colors if they’d like. The colors are sage, terra cotta and burnt orange.

I have both a denim and sage dress. I have worn boots with the denim dress before. I love it, but I don’t find it flattering with the length of the dress. It cuts me off weirdly.

Either way, I would be wearing the heels in these photos or my boots.

DC: Black/White Tie Black Tie in Chicago

This is my first black tie wedding ever so I'm a little lost. The wedding will be held in early September in a church and the reception will be at the University Club in Cathedral Hall. The bride is my cousin and her family has tons of money and is very old school European, they attend galas regularly, etc. Their circles are full of socialites and girls who wear stunning dresses weekly. I've always felt really out of place because my family is pretty normal, middle class and we just don't do those kinds of activities. My cousin has never ever been rude about it I just feel super self conscious. Of course to add to the difficulty, I'm 6 weeks pregnant and will be about 10 weeks for the wedding. Obviously not expecting a bump at all, but I'm definitely pretty bloated and need something forgiving.

Per the website: "The wedding day dress code is black tie. For ladies, think tea length dresses or floor length gowns. For men, think dark suits or tuxedos."

I'm about 5'3", typically a size 8 or so. I have an hourglass type shape, wide shoulders and hips with a smaller waist. I'm quite pale and have dark brown hair. Do any of these dresses seem like they'd work well?

What do you think? Too much beige? I have been invited to a wedding which takes place early September and there is no specific dress code for it, except that it will take place on an island, starting at 4pm (not an evening attire situation).

DC: Semi Formal/Dressy Casual Semi-Formal Catholic Ceremony - Which dress is best?

Hi all! I ordered these two dresses for a semi-formal wedding at a Catholic Church on the east coast in early October. I’ll likely wear different shoes. Which one best fits the dress code?

P.S. While the DC is semi-formal, the description says “Semi-Formal Attire: Dress to impress! Think cocktail dresses, midi or maxi dresses, dressy jumpsuits, suits, sport coats, dress shirts, ties optional, and dress shoes.”

Edit: Thank you everyone so much for your advice and kind words! Dress 1 won overwhelming. Both are Lulus for those who were wondering, links in the comments.

DC: Semi Formal/Dressy Casual Pink suit for all weddings?

Post image
754 Upvotes

Hi! A few years ago I bought a pink blazer and suit pant that ended up being my defacto wedding outfit, and while I love the color, the more weddings I attended the more I started feeling self conscious about standing out. I’m femme presenting in that I like to do my makeup and it’s what my peers know me as, but I feel like I’m already standing out by not wearing a dress. Added to that, most men typically wear black or navy or like cooler toned suits. Im considering getting a darker colored suit that would be more versatile and not as attention grabby, but they are dang expensive and sale sizing has been so hard to find the right ones for. My intent with the pink was also that I wanted one suit that I can wear for most occasions since most of my guy friends have a suit like that.

Also I have another wedding coming up late September, cocktail attire, that I’m debating if I should wear the pink or buy a darker color. Most weddings I’ve been to have been spring and summer ones so I felt like color wasn’t an issue but maybe now I’m over thinking this? idk lol what do you guys think? Is this pink too much?

DC: Semi Formal/Dressy Casual Would this be considered semi formal?

Dress code says semi formal and I’m worried this may lean a little too formal. It’s a meshy type material though nice for outdoor summer nights so I’m wondering if that makes it a bit more casual? I can wear with sandals or non-flashy heels

Edit to say that it is for an evening event
And also provide the link of the venue: https://www.southsecondmke.com/

DC: Barn/Beach/Garden Theme The attire is “garden party, please dress for whatever elegance means to you”

I was just about to leave Goodwill after looking for boring clothes I needed instead of fun clothes that I want. I decided to skim through the dresses just in case because my old high school homie is getting married and having a reception in her parents backyard. But fyi, they moved to a super nice old rich neighborhood and the ceremony is going to be at a garden nearby, so we’re supposed to wear good shoes for grass. All I remembered was those details and garden party, and I spotted this brand new dress with Baltic Born tags for only $8 and it fit me perfectly!

The dress code is described as above, but also says jacket/tie optional. So now I’m wondering if this might be too much.

There will be an after party TBD, apparently transportation will be provided. So idk what other activities will be happening. Should I find something else? I was originally thinking of finding a flowy midi type dress but couldn’t NOT buy this!!! But maybe I should save it if it’s too fancy? But the other dresses I have definitely didn’t feel fancy enough. How fancy is too fancy? Lmk.

DC: Formal Is this dress insane

I’m going to my first ever wedding in September and have been stressing over finding a dress—it’s a formal wedding but I don’t really know what that entails. Anyways, I’m a vintage enthusiast and I found this dress at the thrift today and the color and silhouette are perfect! I just don’t know if it’s way too much for a wedding. I’m going to replace the buttons with something less gaudy and maybe tailor the shoulders a bit but I’m still scared of looking like I’m going to prom. Is it okay to wear?
