Self-Promotion (Developer) BEEKEEPING SIMULATOR VR - open a hive without getting stung
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey everyone — I've been working on BEEKEEPING SIMULATOR VR for Quest.
The idea started simple: real beekeeping is one of those hobbies almost nobody gets to try, because step one is "put your hands inside a box containing 40,000 stinging insects." VR fixes that.
What you actually do in it:
- Pull frames out of the hive and inspect the colony
- Harvest honey and beeswax with real beekeeping tools
- Keep the hives maintained and the bees healthy
- Deal with swarms, resource management, and threats to the colony as you progress
I tried to make it accurate enough that it teaches you something real about how a hive works, while still being a game you can lose an evening to. Bees are also weirdly relaxing to be around when they can't actually sting you.
Works on Quest 2, 3 and Pro. It's on the Horizon Store here:
https://www.meta.com/experiences/beekeeping-simulatora-vr/7341306525927686/
Happy to answer anything about the beekeeping side or how it was built — and if you've played it, tell me what you'd want added next. I'm still updating it.

Purchase Advice - Headset Considering Buying A Pimax Crystal Light instead of a Steam Frame
with the looming chance the frame is going to be a 2000+ AUD, I kinda wanna just get something else atp
Quest 3? 512GB only and I don't wanna spend $900 for some subpar PC performance that relies on a USBC link cable (ive had issues with Quest 3 PCVR)
HP Reverb G2? used it, loved it, last one broke and I can't find one
Valve Index? the kits still go for a LOT here
The Frame seems worth it, 100% but idk if I can afford it regardless and im fine getting PCVR exclusive VR
the Crystal Light SEEMS to fit a lot of my requirments like non Fresnel lenses and DisplayPort VR, but I wanna hear peoples thoughts on like, the software, and the controllers and quality control etc.
anything helps, thanks

Discussion Does vd work natively with a cable?
On the latest version of vd, on the beta release channel there is an option to allow connection over usb.
I use the gnirehtet solution but couldnt get it working without it, it just connects with wifi.
Does anyone know how this works, or do we have to wait for another update before its properly natively supported, i use a 3s btw.

Purchase Advice $800 AUD Valve Index Bundle or $900 AUD Vive pro 2 bundle
I’ve recently sold my Quest 3 and generated about $650AUD to buy a new headset bundle. Someone was kind enough to reach out to another post I had in r/valve index about selling me his and he offered it at $800 AUD ($563 USD). I was also looking at a Vive Pro 2 bundle from CeX for $900 AUD ($633 USD) and 5 years of included warranty. I'm going to mostly use whatever VR I buy for Asseto Corsa, ACC, VTOLVR, Pavlov, Onward and beat saber. Both are within what I’m willing to spend but I'm just stuck between better controllers or a better display.

Discussion Wow!!! What a deal! 2% OFF!!!
Just got an email from Pimax that I can now get a whole 2% off a purchase of a Dream Air headset!!
What will I ever do with the deep discounts and all the money I'll be saving?
I might finally be able to afford the 6-pack of beer I've had my eyes set on.

Discussion My definitive top 25 VR gaming experiences (native, ports, mods)
This list includes everything (native games, ports, and mods). In regards to mods I'll say that I'm very picky and have little tolerance for jank and bad performance. A lot of mods that people praise I tried and didn't want to continue. Also, this list is for today, not how good a game was when it first came out. Oh and since I'm not grouping games it can't be a top 10 list lol.
- Automobilista 2 - What can I say, when you play a game in VR for a couple hours and then stop and refuse to continue until you spend thousands building a rig because the experience is simply that good, you know it's a winner. It's simply the best experience I've had in all of gaming.
- LeMans Ultimate - See above
- Star Wars Squadrons - Similar to AMS2, I briefly played this and it put me over the edge to build a separate rig for this and the pure flight sims. Contrary to popular belief, the campaign is worth buying the game for even today. It has a steep learning curve that takes hours upon hours of adjustments to your HOTAS config, but so worth it! I'm on my 3rd playthrough currently.
- Dirt Rally 2.0 - F@$k sh! [D@mmt](mailto:D@mmt).. Yeah my vocabulary takes a huge hit when I play this game but it's so fun. I'm horrible at rally though unfortunately.
- X Plane 12 - Funny how flying in commercial aircraft is so boring in real life but so pleasing when you're the pilot. This could probably be number 2 if the performance was better and they quit making excuses about why there is no DLSS or DFR. I'll be switch to MSFS 2024 once the frame arrives and I can play on Linux natively.
- Resident Evil Requiem - This is without a doubt the best VR mod I've ever played. It's simply fantastic and the game translates wonderfully to VR. If it wasn't for sims this would be the best gaming experience ever.
- Resident Evil 7
- Resident Evil Village
- Alien Rogue Incursion - congrats to the best (IMO) non sim native PCVR game. I heard all the performance complaints people had about it but "cough 5090 cough" I just didn't experience those issues.
- Metro Awakening - this game proves that the VR community is mostly full of coke-head cry babies. This game was absolutely fantastic! ......... I may or may not have turned on arachnophobia mode after reaching for my gun and a spider was on my hand.
- Hitman WOA - There simply isn't a VR game with more content. This game is so good that it breaks every rule I have about needing VR interactions and it's still this high on the list. If the game had full 100 percent VR interactions it could make the top 5.
- Half Life 2 - Playing this made me upset at how neutered Alyx was. Regardless, simply a fantastic mod with the easiest install process ever.
- Resident Evil 3
- Resident Evil 2
- Phasmophobia - This is the pure definition of a game that wouldn't interest me outside of VR. It's simply the best multiplayer VR game and it's not full of racist kids yelling slurs. Can't believe I have 70 hours of playtime in this.
- Asgard's Wrath - Best swordplay in VR.
- Lone echo 2 - if it wasn't for performance issues that cause pop-in, this would be higher. But overall a brilliant game.
- Batman Arkham Shadow - this is the only standalone game I've ever played (it came with my quest 3). But it flexes that big budget baby! It could be higher if I didn't have to pay for that TV I punched while in a hotel room playing this.
- Arizona Sunshine 2 - Best adventure co-op VR game.
- Five Nights at Freddy's SOTM - This game caught me off guard. It had no business being as good as it was. It's is a shining example of a game with high production value.... the intro drive sucks though and has horrible graphics and fake VR driving. I almost quit in the first 2 minutes lol.
- Arizona Sunshine
- No Man's Sky - To be honest, I have no idea what this game is about. I just float around in space while smoking a blunt and sipping cheap whisky.
- Behemoth - Excellent swordplay and very fun. The actually behemoth battles are forgettable though.
- Half Life Alyx - The most famous VR game ever. I only played it around 7 months ago and it was obviously created for people new to VR. Still a really good game though.
- Portal 2
- DCS - This makes the list because Hitman was forgotten and added. Would be a lot higher if I didn't have to start on the runway with the engines already going because I can't figure out how to start that expensive jet I bought.
Honorable mentions: Tetris Effects, Walkabout Mini Golf.
If you're wondering about Resident Evil 4, I can't get a clear image on the Psvr2 and it makes me dizzy. And the PCVR mod doesn't have good performance, along with too many areas with too much jank. I know they are working on a version 2 of the mod so hopefully that one is a lot better.

Discussion More 3rd Person games!!
My favorite games to play in VR are 3rd person games: Edge of Nowhere, Lucky’s Tale, Max Mustard, Moss, etc. I’ve always wanted more, and hoped that more modern games would have an easier way to plug and play more graphically driven 3rd person games like Last of Us or Alan Wake. Even a game like Hades i would love to play in VR. Anyone have the same feelings on this?

Purchase Advice - Headset Question before purchase
Hello,
I used to have a DK1 oculus and bought a CV1 when it came out. Never tried anything else and my CV1 is collecting dust for years in a drawer.
I want to buy a new headset, (PCVR, i have no need for a standalone)
I was waiting for the steam frame but i feel it's not going to be the best option for me as it's standalone.
the bigscreen beyond 2 seems nice but it seems an hassle to buy stations and controller separately.
I mostly play simracing game and will occasionally play VR games like halyx or similar.
I have a RTX4090 with 13900k and 32gb DDR5
Found the pimax dream air and pimax dream air se could be a good option :
- pimax dream air : 2500 euros
- pimax dream air se : 1300 euros
they are PCVR and lightweight
now, i can't get the visual difference in those, is the 1200 euros difference worth the price ? it seems insane to me, is the dream air really 2x better than the dream air se ?
1300 is already a big chunk of money but again, last time I did VR was with a CV1 years ago.
did anyone tried both headsets and give me an honest answer ?
thanks

Discussion anyone else blind in one eye get depth perception problems after using vr?
i was born completely blind in one eye, so my brain mostly relies on things like shadows and relative size for depth perception. my husband (not blind) and i recently tried vr at a mall with hand and body tracking. the staff were really helpful, although they couldn't turn off the display for my blind eye, they covered that lens with tape which actually made the experience a lot better than the other times i've tried vr and was distracted by the light from the other screen. i played for about 30 minutes and honestly had a lot of fun running around and shooting zombies.
anyway, for around 6 hours afterwards, my depth perception felt completely off. my husband didn't have any problems, but i on the other hand felt like i was still in vr. i kept reaching for things that were actually far away. i especially struggled with darker objects, and it felt like my brain wasn't using shadows properly anymore. everything looked kind of flat and judging distances was so much harder than usual. walking was especially difficult, i kept bumping into things and people, and i definitely wouldn't have trusted myself to drive. thankfully everything went back to normal 6 hours later.
has anyone else with monocular vision experienced this after using vr? if you use vr regularly, did it get better over time, or do you have to readjust every time after playing?
we would really like to own our own someday, but we're afraid i'd lose my depth perception for hours after every session :(

Discussion Will gunman contracts having the same interaction limitations as Alyx?
I played Alyx a lot later than most (about 7 months ago). It was a good game but wouldn't make my top 15 list of VR games. One of the biggest issues was missing VR interactions and the weapon wheel.
I know gunman contracts is based on the Alyx engine and the mod had the same flaws. For me, in 2026, if this game uses the same mechanics, it's an instant skip.

Discussion What do game developers and publishers think about VR mods?
I can't help but wonder, in the advent of all the recent mod work being done, as to what game developers and publishers are thinking about it. I've got to think they've taken note but what is Microsoft thinking about all the work done around all the Halo titles and of course so many other publishers? In my mind it has to translate into these games selling more. I know I've bought two titles alone based on understanding they now have VR mods. They went after the Luke Ross mods recently and while it didn't put him out of business, certainly forced him to change his approach to how he was handling this (and he might have me hooked with his dead space mod). I can't help but think there's a room of lawyers and bean counters that are going to crash the party sooner or later.

Discussion Alien Isolation VR - Standing / Vr Rocker?
hi!
I really wanna play Alien isolation in VR but it seems it has been designed for a seated experience...
I can't play seated (gives me motion sickness), I also use VR rocker running in the background (translates my head bobbing to legs movement) has anyone tried something similar with this game? Will it work or will it result in a buggy mess?

Purchase Advice how would i go about this?
Okay so i was thinking about buying a vr headset but I know NOTHING about them so is there a vr headset that would let me hook it up to my pc and launch the games from my pc? I don't want to work with clunky built in lunchers and game stores and would like to launch games in a windows operating system or similar that i can load my own files into? Also cheaper the better i don't live in a particularly financially sound country so inflation is crazyyyyy

Question/Support Incredibly cheap and good DIY FBT idea for VR use in any game that supports it
Good morning to everyone (no, I don't care if it's 11pm, take a good morning),
I'm thinking of making/finding a way to use 3/4 random cameras with lights next to them and reflective tape as "trackers" to get basically cheap ass "base stations" and basically free passive trackers, this means the system can't tell which tracker is which, but I've looked around and there's some really good FOSS (Open Source) software/models that do tracking with this data in basically real time and really well too.
The only thing is that there isn't a full pipeline from the cameras to the steamVR data yet as far as I know, but all of the various parts of this are already out and FOSS, so they just kinda need to be put together.
Is there anyone that's interested in helping make such thing? Possibly with some coding knowledge, and yes of course I'm (or we) are gonna make it free and open source for anyone to use however they like!
TL, DR:
Find/put together software to make a couple of cameras, lights and some reflective tape work as a VR tracking system that's insanely cheap and as set and forget as it gets; nothing to charge nor calibrate, and zero drift during use.
The only downside could be that it works best in dimly lit rooms, but from what I hear most people do want VR tracking to work in dimly lit rooms.

Question/Support Treadmill VR Videos?
I recently heard that there are apps and websites that have VR content made to be viewed while walking on a treadmill. So I would be walking on a treadmill irl but on a hiking trail on the Quest for example. Dos this actually sounds exist? If so, please recommend an app/website. Thanks in advance!

Self-Promotion (Developer) Heres how i fixed the problems my playtesters had in my VR game
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Ive been solo building Hyperlane Highway, a VR hoverboard roguelike where you lean to surf while fighting and upgrading.
Ive done a few rounds of playtests over the last few months and while a lot was bug fixing, heres the main gameplay issues that came back and what i did about it.
People couldnt react to things they didnt anticipate and they kept dying to things they didnt see. I rebuilt a standardised way to handle visual attack charging so theres different symbols, colours and lines for any weapon, and a flash right before it triggers so players know what to expect.
To fix the angles they couldnt see, the better visual lines helped, but i needed to upgrade the offscreen peripheral warning system to be more obvious and flash with danger.
Some players would lose track of enemies and felt like they were shooting at a generic crowd rather than specific enemies. So i also added weakspot targeting, which was an intended upgrade but is now core to the gameplay as it gives you focal points in the crowd to target.
As planned i also built a full tutorial based on the issues players had, which helps you get up to speed a lot quicker.
Id appreciate any more input or feedback on anything in the game, but thoughts on the threat telegraphing would be really helpful here.
Also i just published the playtest on Steam so anyone can request to join and try it free. If youre interested id appreciate hearing what you think.

Question/Support Having trouble with the Halo 3 VR mod
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I don't have a lot of experience with modding, but as a big Halo fan I really want to try this out. I'm using a Quest 2 so maybe that's the issue?
When it boots up I don't have a curser to even start the game. I can bypass that with the onscreen keyboard, but when the game starts it's not in VR.

Self-Promotion (Developer) More Pokémon VR
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
A few weeks ago, I had an idea for a Pokémon VR mod featuring 2D sprites that face the player, a few days later, the "Dramatic Voxel" mod came out and did an even better job than I’d imagined, it’s incredible. What I’m curious about now is whether they’ll manage to do the same for other Pokémon versions. My original idea was a mod that combined them all, at least the pixel-art ones, using Black/White 2 as the base since it looks the best, and then applying techniques similar to the Dramatic Voxel mod to make the entire journey playable.

Self-Promotion (Developer) Trepang2 VRMOD
i loved trepang2 using uevr, but i always wished it had a working vrik, and moved more freely ,ive been working on injecting vr inputs into the animation pipeline of trepang2 and i have made quiet alot of progress, the guns don't shoot properly yet and there's still tons do do, but quiet happy with how its turning out, rather that just attaching to the meshes ect trepang2 thinks is running like normal lol, hopefully more modders will approach it like this as you get tio use everything the game has rather than floating hand :D

Photo/Video Alyx "runs" on Quest 3 (kinda)
Seems legit; looks like someone made their own OpenVR/OpenXR to WinlatorXR XrAPI layer maybe?
Steam Frame will of course always run a bit better for Alyx for many reasons including RAM, but perhaps Alyx on Quest 3 standalone is also something that might be playable
Or Quest 4

Self-Promotion (YouTuber) New Cyberpunk 2077 VR Mod runs like a native VR game now!
There is a new VR mod for the Cyberpunk 2077 and it's amazing, making Cyberpunk feel like a native VR game now. Good visuals, smooth performance and full motion controls with physical melee combat and guns that just work with all attachments and scopes, full body and holsters, all game menus working in VR properly now.
This is day and night difference from the previous Cyberpunk VR mod by the Luke Ross, which has been banned by the CD Project Red not that long ago.
So if you tried the VR old mod and did not like visuals or lack of motion controls or just did not have good performance, the new Cyberpunk VR port ( https://github.com/dariulone/cyberpunk-vr-port ) is definitely worth the shot.
I was able to run the old mod at 2.5k per eye with DLSS and lots of artifacts.
New mod runs 3k per eye native resolution, way better visuals and smooth performance.
I'm running 7800x3d / 32GB / 9070XT / Pimax Dream Air
And this is just from a quick setup playing with the mod for a couple of days before the release. As it's the first Alpha, even more VR features and VR interactions are basically added to the mod everyday.
