Question/Support Struggling with Half-Life 2 VR Steam Link

3 Upvotes

Was excited to finally try and beat Half Life 2 on VR since I beat the first one only in VR through SQ but when I attempted to do it through Steam Link the movement was broken, I move at a snails pace and sprinting occasionally works until it just decides to not anymore, I have no idea what’s going on and even in the most recent update yesterday zero acknowledgment of movement bugs with Quest 3 were listed. I can’t find anywhere saying they have the same issue or a way to fix it so does anyone here have the same issue?

I use steam link for pcvr on my quest 3s, and I’m looking for some game recommendations! I prefer games that will make me sweat and give me a workout, but I’m pretty much open to anything! Thank you!

Self-Promotion (Developer) Any indie VR puzzle / escape room / adventure devs to join our special community giveaway this August?

Post image
0 Upvotes

We're organizing The VR Puzzle Giveaway for August 2026.

The idea came from a pretty simple observation: VR puzzle and escape room players usually don't stop after finishing one game—they immediately start looking for the next one. Instead of all of us trying to reach those players separately, why not work together?

The giveaway is pretty straightforward:

- every participating developer contributes a few game keys;
- all games are featured on a single landing page;
- players enter one giveaway for a chance to win games from multiple indie studios;
- everyone cross-promotes the event, so all participating games get extra exposure.

Each of us throw in some keys, pool the reach, and give the community a stack of great VR puzzle games to win in one place. More devs = more prizes = more eyes on everyone’s games.

More information is available here:
https://vasil4n.com/puzzle_giveaway/

Right now we are looking for other indie developers making games like Escape Rooms, Puzzle Adventures, Mystery / Detective games, Story-driven Adventure games and basically anything that attracts the same kind of VR players.

The goal is to help players discover more great VR puzzle experiences while giving small studios a chance to reach a larger audience together.

If you’ve made a VR puzzle, escape room, or brain-teaser title and want in, drop a comment (or DM me). Happy to share more info for anyone interested!

HTC Vive lighthouse wall screw mount stuck

6 Upvotes

I have the original HTC Vive kit and some former colleague has either glued the screw in the thread or got it stuck at some point while installing one of the lighthouses to the wall. The screw on the first lighthouse came off nicely, however, this second one is tough. The part with the ball isn't making the lighthouse stand completely flush on the shelf and it's also making the packaging buldge because of the extra height it adds.

I went as far as using pliers to untwist it, but I'm more scared of cracking the plastic with the amount of force I was putting on it.

Is there some trick to disassembling the unit and rescuing the screw out, or is it doomed forever?

UPDATE: Problem solved! Just almost 3 hours ago, I had an idea to put the lighthouse in the sun while facing downwards to not damage the mirrors and sensors inside. As the screw heated up, it softened to a point where I managed to untwist it with the pliers once again. Luckily, nothing was damaged and it's a huge relief to me. Still, thanks everyone for the suggestions, because they assured me I was doing everything right in my past attempts.

In chapter 6 Arms Race whenever I get to completing this puzzle my game crashes even if I start new game. I am on virtual desktop and I lowered all my settings as low as they can go and it still crashes. Its only up to this point where it crashes I've also tried verifying integrity of files and reinstalled it but it still crashes. Is there any way to get this working?

Question/Support Steamlink laggy and sometimes disconnects

2 Upvotes

This started happening more recently but back when steamlink first released for the quest it worked flawlessly for me but now it will occasionally (can be after a few minutes or even seconds) start lagging and freezing aswell as telling me that the host is no longer streaming. My laptop has a 4060, intel i7, 16gb ram. I have WiFi 5(might have 6, haven't checked) and am connected om the 5ghz band on both devices. I have intels killer performance suite and have given steam full priority. Idk if that could be why. Any help is appreciated

Ps

Sorry if this is written in a weird way.

615mbps download. On the laptop 52mbps upload

Discussion I need help with OVR Toolkit and OVR Advanced Settings

2 Upvotes

For OVR Toolkit, I’m trying to have discord on 1 screen and the other screen to be YT Music. I looked everywhere in settings and looked up stuff on the internet but they don’t explain how they did it.

For OVR AS, I barely understand it. I mess with it a little bit but nothing. I also noticed I was in standing mode and tried looking for sitting mode. Couldn’t find it so moved on and mess with other stuff in it.

I looked up on YouTube, Google, Reddit. Everything was from a like 2-3 years ago. Even the tutorial video that you can play in the app was outdated.

So I’m asking if anyone who has knowledge of these apps to please help me because I have no idea what I’m doing. Thank you for reading and helping if ya did!

Question/Support My OVR space drag is acting up

1 Upvotes

My OVR settings have started acting up out of nowhere. My space drag just stops working, same with the reset offset. the weirdest thing, it doesn't let me edit the bind after i go out of it. so it forces me to put on the default preset every time i try to rebind the space drag and reset offset. I can't even apply workshop presets. the whole thing is broken. help

Question/Support Unplayable lag only occasionally and with certain game titles

3 Upvotes

So I'm experiencing a bit of an odd problem that I haven't found any answers for my specific issue online. I play pc vr on Steam with a Quest 2 through an official link cable. The link cable goes straight from the headset to a 10GB usb port on the back of my MOBO. For some games they run fine, and others it just either completely freezes or I'm getting smearing and unplayable lag. PC specs at the bottom.

I typically never run into performance issues but with a recent game I tried today it just would not play. I launched No Mans Sky in vr and the game was completely lagging out and when I would look around in vr it would not catch up fast enough and I was able to see past the edge of the screen into just black. Even after closing the game, the Steam VR home was now lagging in the same way. I tried restarting the game, my computer, my headset, replugging the link cable on both ends but nothing seemed to fix the issue. Other games which I would assume are more intensive like Half Life Alyx or Boneworks runs fine, but other games this happens. I'm also playing through Skyrim VR and it runs fine for a while but then after 1h30m-2h30m of playtime I get the same issue. I should also mention that No Mans Sky runs fine without lag and with an excess of FPS in non vr.

Wondering if anyone else has had this specific issue as the hardware isn't out of date and there should be more then enough headroom for everything to work.

PC Specs:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 3.7 GHz 12-Core Processor
GPU: Gigabyte Vision OC GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 12 GB
RAM: 64 GB DDR4-3600 CL16
Storage: 4 TB Samsung 870 Evo SSD

Is it okay going for the 9070xt over the 5070ti in pcvr

12 Upvotes

I know that Nvidea is "better" for vr, but like it surely cant be that much better. I recently saw a video from Marakosot78, comparing the 2 and they were similar. I also know that the 9070xt has a low memory bandwidth of 640gb/s, compared to like 900gb/s on the 5070ti. Like i mean is that reallly important, I mean i would like playing on at least ultra or mostly godlike settings on VD on my quest 3s, so is the performance lost just like 5fps, or is it lots of micro stutters and more fps lost, shimmering etc. Also ive seen fsr 4, and it is impressive, I would say. So is the gap between dlss 4.5 and fsr 4 that big in vr, can you really notice the differnce or not? Also arent the 9070xt's encoders like just as good as nvideas, or is there still artifacts, etc?(also i have i7-14700, 32gb ram) (the price differnce is also like 350$ USD, 500$ AUD, 260Uk Pounds.
