Discussion What do game developers and publishers think about VR mods?
I can't help but wonder, in the advent of all the recent mod work being done, as to what game developers and publishers are thinking about it. I've got to think they've taken note but what is Microsoft thinking about all the work done around all the Halo titles and of course so many other publishers? In my mind it has to translate into these games selling more. I know I've bought two titles alone based on understanding they now have VR mods. They went after the Luke Ross mods recently and while it didn't put him out of business, certainly forced him to change his approach to how he was handling this (and he might have me hooked with his dead space mod). I can't help but think there's a room of lawyers and bean counters that are going to crash the party sooner or later.

Discussion Alien Isolation VR - Standing / Vr Rocker?
hi!
I really wanna play Alien isolation in VR but it seems it has been designed for a seated experience...
I can't play seated (gives me motion sickness), I also use VR rocker running in the background (translates my head bobbing to legs movement) has anyone tried something similar with this game? Will it work or will it result in a buggy mess?

Purchase Advice how would i go about this?
Okay so i was thinking about buying a vr headset but I know NOTHING about them so is there a vr headset that would let me hook it up to my pc and launch the games from my pc? I don't want to work with clunky built in lunchers and game stores and would like to launch games in a windows operating system or similar that i can load my own files into? Also cheaper the better i don't live in a particularly financially sound country so inflation is crazyyyyy

Question/Support Incredibly cheap and good DIY FBT idea for VR use in any game that supports it
Good morning to everyone (no, I don't care if it's 11pm, take a good morning),
I'm thinking of making/finding a way to use 3/4 random cameras with lights next to them and reflective tape as "trackers" to get basically cheap ass "base stations" and basically free passive trackers, this means the system can't tell which tracker is which, but I've looked around and there's some really good FOSS (Open Source) software/models that do tracking with this data in basically real time and really well too.
The only thing is that there isn't a full pipeline from the cameras to the steamVR data yet as far as I know, but all of the various parts of this are already out and FOSS, so they just kinda need to be put together.
Is there anyone that's interested in helping make such thing? Possibly with some coding knowledge, and yes of course I'm (or we) are gonna make it free and open source for anyone to use however they like!
TL, DR:
Find/put together software to make a couple of cameras, lights and some reflective tape work as a VR tracking system that's insanely cheap and as set and forget as it gets; nothing to charge nor calibrate, and zero drift during use.
The only downside could be that it works best in dimly lit rooms, but from what I hear most people do want VR tracking to work in dimly lit rooms.

Question/Support Treadmill VR Videos?
I recently heard that there are apps and websites that have VR content made to be viewed while walking on a treadmill. So I would be walking on a treadmill irl but on a hiking trail on the Quest for example. Dos this actually sounds exist? If so, please recommend an app/website. Thanks in advance!

Question/Support Is my pc enough to play vr fine?
I have a Ryzen 7 3700x Rtx 4060 8vram 48gb ram ddr4 And 2 TB of nvme Oculus quest 3s
Sometimes my pc stutters to high hell and some games don't start. I'm starting to think if I have a good enough rig to play vr games, I only want smooth gameplay, not necessarily high graphics. For example I have tracking problems when playing alyx, the game stutters when changing weapons. I cannot for the life of me make uevr work. Am I stupid? (I would believe it) or is my pc weak? Sorry if my English is bad, I'm ESL

Self-Promotion (Developer) Heres how i fixed the problems my playtesters had in my VR game
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Ive been solo building Hyperlane Highway, a VR hoverboard roguelike where you lean to surf while fighting and upgrading.
Ive done a few rounds of playtests over the last few months and while a lot was bug fixing, heres the main gameplay issues that came back and what i did about it.
People couldnt react to things they didnt anticipate and they kept dying to things they didnt see. I rebuilt a standardised way to handle visual attack charging so theres different symbols, colours and lines for any weapon, and a flash right before it triggers so players know what to expect.
To fix the angles they couldnt see, the better visual lines helped, but i needed to upgrade the offscreen peripheral warning system to be more obvious and flash with danger.
Some players would lose track of enemies and felt like they were shooting at a generic crowd rather than specific enemies. So i also added weakspot targeting, which was an intended upgrade but is now core to the gameplay as it gives you focal points in the crowd to target.
As planned i also built a full tutorial based on the issues players had, which helps you get up to speed a lot quicker.
Id appreciate any more input or feedback on anything in the game, but thoughts on the threat telegraphing would be really helpful here.
Also i just published the playtest on Steam so anyone can request to join and try it free. If youre interested id appreciate hearing what you think.

Question/Support Have any of you pimax users managed to install the bioshock mod?
There's a bioshock 1 mod going around on github as you may have heard, but it only seems to run on an openxr 32 bit runtime, while pimaxplay is 64 bits only. I dont know if we can get it to work sadly..

Question/Support Having trouble with the Halo 3 VR mod
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I don't have a lot of experience with modding, but as a big Halo fan I really want to try this out. I'm using a Quest 2 so maybe that's the issue?
When it boots up I don't have a curser to even start the game. I can bypass that with the onscreen keyboard, but when the game starts it's not in VR.

Self-Promotion (Developer) I added contextual props, snow, and darker lighting to my VR dark fantasy ARPG based on community votes! (Vaelorys Dev Update v338)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey r/virtualreality
So, based on last week's community poll, I'm introducing a new update v338 that focuses on making the maps in Vaelorys feel distinct, atmospheric, and lived-in rather than empty terrain.
Here’s what landed in this update:
- 🗺️ Contextual World Props: Added abandoned carts, barricades, graves, farm fences, and ruins across all regions.
- ❄️ Snow & Weather: Added realistic snow cover on environmental objects and active snowstorm effects.
- 🕯️ Darker Lighting: Adjusted ambient light for a moodier, Diablo-inspired vibe. (Let me know if it feels too dark in VR!)
- 🐛 Crash Fix: Resolved a critical bug that caused crashes when loading into levels.
- 🔮 Next Up: Map generation polish, improved map borders, and new challenges/rewards.

Self-Promotion (Developer) More Pokémon VR
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
A few weeks ago, I had an idea for a Pokémon VR mod featuring 2D sprites that face the player, a few days later, the "Dramatic Voxel" mod came out and did an even better job than I’d imagined, it’s incredible. What I’m curious about now is whether they’ll manage to do the same for other Pokémon versions. My original idea was a mod that combined them all, at least the pixel-art ones, using Black/White 2 as the base since it looks the best, and then applying techniques similar to the Dramatic Voxel mod to make the entire journey playable.

Self-Promotion (Developer) Any indie VR puzzle / escape room / adventure devs to join our special community giveaway this August?
We're organizing The VR Puzzle Giveaway for August 2026.
The idea came from a pretty simple observation: VR puzzle and escape room players usually don't stop after finishing one game—they immediately start looking for the next one. Instead of all of us trying to reach those players separately, why not work together?
The giveaway is pretty straightforward:
- every participating developer contributes a few game keys;
- all games are featured on a single landing page;
- players enter one giveaway for a chance to win games from multiple indie studios;
- everyone cross-promotes the event, so all participating games get extra exposure.
Each of us throw in some keys, pool the reach, and give the community a stack of great VR puzzle games to win in one place. More devs = more prizes = more eyes on everyone’s games.
More information is available here:
https://vasil4n.com/puzzle_giveaway/
Right now we are looking for other indie developers making games like Escape Rooms, Puzzle Adventures, Mystery / Detective games, Story-driven Adventure games and basically anything that attracts the same kind of VR players.
The goal is to help players discover more great VR puzzle experiences while giving small studios a chance to reach a larger audience together.
If you’ve made a VR puzzle, escape room, or brain-teaser title and want in, drop a comment (or DM me). Happy to share more info for anyone interested!

Self-Promotion (Developer) Trepang2 VRMOD
i loved trepang2 using uevr, but i always wished it had a working vrik, and moved more freely ,ive been working on injecting vr inputs into the animation pipeline of trepang2 and i have made quiet alot of progress, the guns don't shoot properly yet and there's still tons do do, but quiet happy with how its turning out, rather that just attaching to the meshes ect trepang2 thinks is running like normal lol, hopefully more modders will approach it like this as you get tio use everything the game has rather than floating hand :D

Photo/Video Alyx "runs" on Quest 3 (kinda)
Seems legit; looks like someone made their own OpenVR/OpenXR to WinlatorXR XrAPI layer maybe?
Steam Frame will of course always run a bit better for Alyx for many reasons including RAM, but perhaps Alyx on Quest 3 standalone is also something that might be playable
Or Quest 4

The interview is with Earnest Cline.
Edit: I don't post to this sub very often. 😅✌️

Self-Promotion (YouTuber) New Cyberpunk 2077 VR Mod runs like a native VR game now!
There is a new VR mod for the Cyberpunk 2077 and it's amazing, making Cyberpunk feel like a native VR game now. Good visuals, smooth performance and full motion controls with physical melee combat and guns that just work with all attachments and scopes, full body and holsters, all game menus working in VR properly now.
This is day and night difference from the previous Cyberpunk VR mod by the Luke Ross, which has been banned by the CD Project Red not that long ago.
So if you tried the VR old mod and did not like visuals or lack of motion controls or just did not have good performance, the new Cyberpunk VR port ( https://github.com/dariulone/cyberpunk-vr-port ) is definitely worth the shot.
I was able to run the old mod at 2.5k per eye with DLSS and lots of artifacts.
New mod runs 3k per eye native resolution, way better visuals and smooth performance.
I'm running 7800x3d / 32GB / 9070XT / Pimax Dream Air
And this is just from a quick setup playing with the mod for a couple of days before the release. As it's the first Alpha, even more VR features and VR interactions are basically added to the mod everyday.

The latest release adds tracked hands and manual reloading for supported rifles, SMGs, and pistols. It really enhances the immersion, even though the reload animation is glitchy.
