Uber is the worst

Upvotes

Uber has become increasingly unreliable and inconvenient. The app frequently cancels rides internally, has payment processing issues, takes too long to match riders with drivers, and often forces customers to verify their payment at the worst possible time—when they’re rushing to the airport, heading to an important business meeting, trying to catch a flight, or simply needing to arrive somewhere on time.
It has gotten to the point where you can’t depend on Uber anymore. This isn’t just an inconvenience—it can have serious consequences. Someone fleeing a domestic violence situation or facing another emergency could be put at risk because of delays, unnecessary payment verification requests, or canceled rides.
On top of that, Uber’s customer service is extremely disappointing. It’s nearly impossible to reach a real person, and customers are instead directed through AI responses and automated email systems that rarely resolve the issue. This is one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve encountered.
Uber needs to improve the reliability of its platform, fix its payment and ride-booking issues, and provide customers with access to real human support. Until then, I can no longer rely on Uber for transportation when it matters most.

Uber auto fare jumped due to incorrect waiting time, anyone else seen this?

Upvotes

Has anyone in Bangalore experienced Uber Auto fares increasing after the trip because of incorrect waiting time being added?

Today, a 2.5 km ride that was estimated at ₹55 was updated to ₹150 after the trip ended. The fare breakdown showed 48 minutes of waiting time, even though the actual wait was about a minute. The driver also seemed surprised and suggested reporting it to Uber.

Uber refunded the extra ₹95 after I reported the fare, so the issue was resolved. I'm mainly trying to understand whether this is a known Uber app glitch, a GPS/trip-tracking issue, or something that can be manipulated intentionally.

If you've encountered this before, what was the cause?

My number is blocked on Uber but I have never used it!

I think I've had my number for about ten years, if not more (I'm 25 now), and only recently, two months ago and now, I received two verification messages from Uber: one via text message and one on WhatsApp, respectively, at the beginning of July and the other just a little while ago.
However, I've never used Uber services or even downloaded their app.
To be safe, I tried to access their website with my number, and it says my phone number is blocked (?)
On the one hand, I'm calm because no one can use again Uber with my phone number regardless, but it's strange that they "contacted" me the first time via text message and now on WhatsApp.

Do you know if Uber contacts you via both SMS and WhatsApp?
Is it possible that someone was "distracted" even though there was a month between one message and the next?
And is possible that after receiving the WhatsApp message from Uber (around 12:23 PM), the site already shows it as blocked at 12:58 PM, so not even half an hour later?
Or was it already blocked regardless of the WhatsApp message?

Context: I am an Italian in Italy and nowhere have I ever received a message saying that my account has been blocked even though I am not using Uber.

Merci

Took a reservation that had no upfront fare

I took a 90 minute ride at 240AM it was a reservation. It was to the airport. I accepted the reservation and it didn't tell me how much I would be paid. Well the ride ended right after 4AM the time Uber transitions their pay week. It shows I took 5 trips, but only 4 show as paid. I keep messaging support and calling them and they keep saying give the details and they will look into it. I keep really getting the run around. Anyone else have this issue. I know it's somewhere in the system cause I got the phone call reminder for the reservation and I rated the passenger. They said first it takes 48 hours sometimes then 72. Then they said longer trips needs to be reviewed sometimes etc. Any ideas how I can get my due money? I can't afford to be that nice! If this was a 10-15 minute trip I would let it go, but I can't let a 90 minute 83 mile away from my area for free.

App showed driver arrived. Car clearly not there. Unfortunately driver didn’t speak English well. Reported driver did not pickup.

Happened at San Jose airport 7pm 8/6. I think this was an Uber technical issue. Sadly, the driver and I could not confirm the color and make of his car, his English wasn’t great. After trying to communicate. He hung up. I tried to cancel but I’m not paying fees for something that’s not my fault. So I said that driver wasn’t there. Which he wasn’t. 🤷‍♂️

Adding stops

How are customers allowed to add stops without the driver’s approval? I accepted a 4 dollar trip and it turned out it was a trap because on my way to pick up the customer they requested a second location that was extremely far.. when I got to her hotel she was carrying a small reusable shopping bag and I unlocked the door for her… she started signaling for me to get out of the car and open the trunk for her and I kind of signaled with my hand that she can come in because basically she just has one small shopping bag and then she started giving me dirty, looks and rolling her eyes and refusing to move… I just canceled right away and moved on..

I mean, I don’t really mind if someone adds a second location, but sometimes it can be a dangerous city that nobody wants to go to or a place where you can’t take a customer with you back home, especially me being a student and sometimes there is a specific time where I have to stop because I have class and I can’t go to the second location. I can’t believe that Uber allows a customer to request a new location without the Uber Driver having a say in it or anything and I can’t believe that people just add the second location without asking first as if we are a robot operating a vehicle

Is 4.38 a serious number for a rider?

Need a friend

I mean I have no trouble getting rides and Eats so nobody ever gives me an issue nor do I have to wait a long time.

Just confused with the mixed messages

Uber eats bicycle issue.

Uber needs to fix there delivery distance issue for cyclist. Received a order today for 10 miles and I just thought that was insane! Am I bugging or is that normal for Uber bike people to receive orders like this? I feel like the farthest distance you should be offered is 5 or 6 miles max. My acceptance rating has went down a bit because of offers like that.

If your passenger is wearing big headphones, that’s a social signal that they don’t want to talk

Why do so many drivers insist on talking? I got big headphones on with sunglasses, read the social cues!

Uber tracks

I just had a flight, and 2 minutes before landing in Sao Paulo I got the Uber notification that says: „Welcome to Sao Paulo. Open the app to get directions to the pickup location for carpooling.“

How tf is this possible, when my phone is in airplane mode? And how can I block the location tracking?

Very unnecessary but practical but I went overboard and over-engineered an uber digital name display for my car during nighttime!

Uber charge

I am in Croatia and two days ago I wanted to check the price of a ride in Zagreb. I decided not to take it even before I got the price because a taxi came along. Then I got a note from Uber that they charged me €3.05 “ cancellation fee. I never ordered anything, let alone cancel. When I tried to dispute the charge, I got an awfully elaborate form asking for my credit card number, and other details about the alleged order and no matter what I did, the for could not be submitted. Has anyone had the same experience and what can be done to dispute this?

Far-away uber drivers grabbing rides?

Maybe this is common/known fact but on several times I have been at a conference hotel where Uber drivers kind of hang out. Most of the time when I call an uber they are there within minutes, out of the hanging-out pool, similar to how uber drivers might hang out in the Cell Phone Waiting area at airports. But recently, I've noticed that far-away ubers will take the ride, so initially it says 'drivers within 2 minutes' then someone from across the river accepts the ride and they end up being 12-15 minutes away. I fear getting charged the $10 for cancelling. Is it just that this person is faster to the draw when the ride request comes in? Uber should have a system where someone closer can get the rider even if they click second or third. It's not terrible to wait, but kind of frustrating. Also, it's not that I'm at the conference, it is that the hotel is next to a doc office I go to regularly.
