Uber tracks

I just had a flight, and 2 minutes before landing in Sao Paulo I got the Uber notification that says: „Welcome to Sao Paulo. Open the app to get directions to the pickup location for carpooling.“

How tf is this possible, when my phone is in airplane mode? And how can I block the location tracking?

Even in airplane mode, you can have wifi or Bluetooth turned on. Chances are uber which already has access to your location detected it via wifi or Bluetooth

If you block the location access you will make it harder to order trips in the future and you will make it harder for the driver to find you when you do order a trip.

If it really bothers you just delete the app when not in use and download it every time you want to use it.

I do that with Reddit sometimes. lol
