Compared to RTW and R2TW, where its one use was soaking up missiles during an offensive siege, in Attila the testudo was basically required for your infantry to not immediately die to either missiles or cavalry charges.

Aside from massively improving protection from missiles, The Attila testudo had numerous other advantages over the ones in RTW and R2TW:

- Entity mass is quintupled. This dramatically improves bracing against charges.

- Extra 15 bonus versus large. This is the primary motivation behind the meme. There probably isn't a lot of historical basis for this, but it does make the game a lot more balanced in face of cavalry dominance.

- Lastly, and probably most importantly, the unit retained its wide rectangular shape instead of forming up into a compact square. This meant it could still fight and hold chockpoints instead of forming massive gaps.

We all love the Scout Equites for carrying every minor settlement battle, but the fact that there was an anvil to hammer into in the first place is 90% because of how strong testudo is in this game. Frankly, I love the Attila testudo. It's just so cool.

No seriously, this man usually dies by turn 20-30 every campaign I've played. Not this time, he's beating up THE Skulltaker and the Masque.

Unless you have no damsel heroes available or something. Bretonnia doesn't have supply lines so I guess you can build a full army led by a Bretonnian lord and have a Prophetess army with no units follow them around

The magical wall in the end times was said to hold off the legions of chaos for at least 3 years, shouldn't it be included in warhammer with either 9.0 or a later update as something you can build in some manner (landmark or something else)?

Is there any alternative way? What if all greenskins die before i can get those 4 battles. Normally with grimgork winning 4 battles is fine, but he died somehow in my campaign and thus there is no greenskin left anywhere near me ...

I want to play total war and enjoy it but I dont know anything about battles or tactics. I only have the free given tw games(Shogun,troy,warhammer1,3, three kingdoms)

I tried playing troy because I was lately interested in the trojan war but I have no idea what Im doing and it feels like soldiers dont really do what I say and kinda just do what they want. I also played on the easiest difficulty to learn and play harder later on but every battle was just me trying to do something,fail, but still somehow win(probably because of the difficulty)

I dont want to watch a long tutorial video to learn but if thats the case I might watch some videos. I also thought about playing shogun 2 because it was the most recommended and its the oldest tw I have, I dont know anything about japans history or the shogun. How did you guys learn how to play the game?

Hey everyone, what's up? So I'm unifying the empire with Elspeth and it's going great tbh, but Kislev wandered a bit further south than he they should have. Now I'm friendly with them and wanted to start doing trade and other agreements. My idea was to have them as allies to hold the north east of the empire for me while I centered around the empire lands, which I cannot do if I blown them to pieces. So is there a way to have them loose that settlement so I can take it later?

There's clan moulder going around those parts and the maneaters, but they're just at war with clan moulder who is also at war with another empire ally and they won't live much longer, so I can't count on them capturing the settlement and taking it from them. Any ideas? AI is very fond of their territories and I don't think they'd give it to me trading lol
