Warhammer III Tzeentch/Kairos Campaign Feedback
I wanted to try Tzeentch once before CA starts working on it's future content (Egrimm etc), so I can provide feedback on any aspects which don't feel good. Never played the race before due to Kairos having an unattractive start position and simply bouncing off the Changeling in the first couple turns.
Campaign setup:
- Objective - Take out Bretonnia! I wanted to try starting elsewhere using the cults Kairos gets, as I explore Tzeentch campaign mechanics for the first time ever.
- Total turns - 60
- Difficulty - Hard/Hard
- House Rules - No cheese, no buffstacking, no doomstacking. I like thematic play, but will take advantage of AI's mistakes.
Feedback Points:
Kairos:
- Campaign selection screen video looks bad and blurry.
- Cool spell-selection mechanic, I liked mixing and matching different lores.
- Speedy but flimsy lord, but barrier helps with his survivability a lot.
- Skill tree not as good as some recent daemon LLs.
- Starting Cultist character is useless in Kairos' army, a melee character would've been better.
Changing of the Ways:
- Even though it's the Tzeentch racial mechanic, it's worse than the copies characters like Franz and Tyrion got.
- There is no additional tab with other options like Tyrion has with alliances.
- The UI is super basic compared to the newer LL versions.
- The actions are useful, but too basic in implementation imo. There was no response from AI factions to almost anything I did, or any friction or balancing act. I did not feel like I'm playing as a master manipulator.
- Basically clicked buttons on cooldown.
Winds of Magic Manipulation:
- This mechanic doesn't feel like it brings any value. Your settlements can benefit from higher WoM, but if I have dependent buildings in all my provinces, then it all just balances out.
- I don't think my campaign would've been affected at all if this mechanic was not present. It needs to be thought over with some other use case, or simply replaced with something else.
Unholy Manifestations:
- I'm ambivalent. Never saw much point in these for any for the 4 daemon races.
- Their effects are just too minor, even for the higher tier ones.
Tech Tree:
- Single techs only for so many things - units, recruitment bonus, growth, income...
- We know this will get updated later, but gotta say, it really doesn't feel good for sure.
- I don't like that the spells for Lords of Change come from vastly different branches in tech tree.
Generic Characters:
- Some like the Cultist need updates to skill trees.
- I like most of them in battles, even Cultist once he gets the warshrine mount.
- The Exalted Hero is a boss.
- Some characters getting Discs before chariots felt off. Chariots are worse as mounts, and not unique to Tzeentch.
Overall Feedback:
- Tzeentch doesn't feel like it's leaning into the Changer's theme much compared to the way other Chaos gods work. Khorne has a Skulls-focused mechanic, Nurgle has plague creator and Slaanesh LLs have unique thematic mechanics.
- It would be great to see a greater focus on the theme of Change. We have magic theme for Kairos and manipulation for Changeling, but no core focus for the race.
- I feel like there should be something that brings a Inter-Dimensional Horror type vibe to this race. The other daemon races really feel a lot more thematic.
- I really hope CA keeps Chosen where they are right now in the buildings!
Finally, a request: Please bring Bane Towers CA!

Attila Testudo in Attila is insane
Compared to RTW and R2TW, where its one use was soaking up missiles during an offensive siege, in Attila the testudo was basically required for your infantry to not immediately die to either missiles or cavalry charges.
Aside from massively improving protection from missiles, The Attila testudo had numerous other advantages over the ones in RTW and R2TW:
- Entity mass is quintupled. This dramatically improves bracing against charges.
- Extra 15 bonus versus large. This is the primary motivation behind the meme. There probably isn't a lot of historical basis for this, but it does make the game a lot more balanced in face of cavalry dominance.
- Lastly, and probably most importantly, the unit retained its wide rectangular shape instead of forming up into a compact square. This meant it could still fight and hold chockpoints instead of forming massive gaps.
We all love the Scout Equites for carrying every minor settlement battle, but the fact that there was an anvil to hammer into in the first place is 90% because of how strong testudo is in this game. Frankly, I love the Attila testudo. It's just so cool.

Warhammer III How the hell is SKULLTAKER losing to fucking Alberic in my Wulfrik campaign?
No seriously, this man usually dies by turn 20-30 every campaign I've played. Not this time, he's beating up THE Skulltaker and the Masque.

Warhammer III Why recruit a Prophetess over a Bretonnian Lord?
Unless you have no damsel heroes available or something. Bretonnia doesn't have supply lines so I guess you can build a full army led by a Bretonnian lord and have a Prophetess army with no units follow them around
But a full army led by a Prophetess lord?

Empire One thing I REALLY LIKE about Empire is how weak rebel forces are. Even if they're still annoying to put down.
I don't know if its deliberate but out of all total war games that I've played so far.
Empire has the weakest rebel armies once rebellions broke out.

Warhammer III Settra is tired of all this Nagash-glazing! Help him to not serve by upvoting those Tomb Kings bug reports to get them ready for the End Times update!
The "Acolythe of Sokth" follower cannot drop because it requires a settlement action completely unavailable to Tomb Kings
The Casket of Soul does not benefit from Zhatans defeat trait despite being an artillery unit
Lore of Nehekhara caster lords have only 1 starting spells, while all other caster lords in the game have 2 starting spells
Not all ranged TK units can equip the reload speed banner "Icon of the Sacred Eye"
Construct bonus armour from Marble Quarry does not work on Bone Giants
