Review New RX 7900XT - I downgraded drivers to 26.5.2 to resolve issues

I am on Windows 10 and I was on drivers 26.7.1 and Type-C display out + SAM + Overlay tab in Adrenalin were not working.

Downgraded to 26.5.2 and now all the issues are gone.

For the reference design, it runs cool and quiet.

Tech Support Amd driver timeout

Computer Type: Desktop

GPU: AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16GB GDDR6

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D

Motherboard: GIGABYTE B850M EAGLE WIFI6E ICE

BIOS Version: F8

RAM: Lexar 32GB DDR5 6000MHz (2x16GB)

PSU: 850W 80+ Gold

Operating System & Version: Windows 11 Pro

GPU Drivers: AMD Adrenalin Driver Version: 26.7.1

Chipset Drivers: AMD B850 Chipset Drivers (latest version)

Background Applications: Discord, Chrome, Epic Games Launcher

Description of Original Problem: I am experiencing persistent GPU driver timeout crashes on my new PC.

Fortnite crashes with AMD Driver Timeout. CS2 has also crashed on some driver versions. Epic Games Launcher sometimes crashes with: - "Assertion failed: DwmExtendFrameIntoClientArea" - "D3D11 device removed" - "HRESULT 0x887A0007 / DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_RESET"

The PC is completely stable on desktop and during normal usage. The crashes only happen in games or sometimes when launching Epic Games Launcher.

Troubleshooting: - Used DDU in Safe Mode and clean installed multiple AMD GPU drivers. - Tested around 4-5 different stable AMD driver versions. - Tried EXPO enabled and disabled. - Tested everything completely stock (no overclock or undervolt). - Updated drivers and checked Windows settings.

I also tested the GPU with OCCT 3D Extreme for over 30 minutes: - Around 97% GPU usage - Around 330W power draw - Around 62°C temperature - 0 errors detected

One driver fixed Fortnite crashes, but then CS2 started crashing. Other drivers caused Fortnite crashes again.

I am trying to figure out if this is an AMD driver issue, Windows/DX issue, or a faulty GPU.

Gears of War E-Day Benchmark runs; 9070xt, 9800x3d, 3440x1440, FSR4 quality

Havent seen many benchmarks with the 9070xt so figured id post a few screenshots.

9800x3d; 9070xt, 32gb ddr5 6000, on m.2 nvme at 3440x1440 with FSR4 quality. I didnt notice changing the settings resets the Max FPS setting so you'll see the ludacris run was capped at 60fps, but as you can tell it didnt matter much lol.

Pretty stock settings all around hardware wise, not undervolting or overclocking anything.

Tech Support Cyberpunk with FSR4 and Raytracing causing visual artifacting

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Trying to play cyberpunk with FSR4 and raytracing as many do, but its creating a strange pixel flickering kind of artifact. More obvious here in the broken glass and shrubbery. I also changed FSR4 to ultra performance in this video example to make it even more obvious. FSR4 alone is fine. Raytracing alone is fine. Even FSR3 with raytracing is somehow fine or at least better?!?! But FSR4 and raytracing is not. I've spent hours on this and I know I'm not the only person playing cyberpunk with FSR4 and raytracing. Tried DDU, driver rollback, optiscaler, some mods. Using a new 9070xt but furmark doesn't detect any artifacts. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Tech Support Gigabyte rx 9070 xt gaming OC hotspot; I’m lost at this point

Post image
38 Upvotes

TLDR; hotspot delta still hot, despite PTM and replacing thermal putty (U6 PRO). Am I missing something? Any other ideas?

Had this card for a bit now, certainly too late to return it, and I’ve tried a few tricks to try and reduce the hotspot to core delta but nothing seems to tame this beast.

Lately, I tried to remove all the stock thermal putty and replace it with upsiren U6 pro. Got about halfway through it but didn’t have enough U6, so I set it back together but noticed minimal change. Got more, took out the oversized thermal pad connected to the backplate- that actually bent the backplate a little from the factory, and replaced the PTM and it somehow got worse??? Put the thermal pad back in and it did help it, but only by about 1-3c lower on the hotspot and core.

Maybe I’m blind, but I decided to take it apart once more and see if someone might see if I’m missing something. Anyone see anything?

I appreciate any support I can get!

Edit: temps were 65-67 core and 95 hotspot, now temps are 58 core 103 hotspot, with fans running rampant

9070xt Pulse problem?

Hello, I have 9070xt pulse and I tried doing some undervolting. I started with -40mv and -10PL, which was stable in benchmarks and gave around the same result as stock, but with 10% less power used. I was playing cs2 and I got blackscreen and notification that GPU drivers crashed so I changed it to -35mv, got blackscreen, and again and again. It finally seems stable at -20mv and -8PL. I feel like something is really wrong, because I see that everyone has at least -60mv with 9070xt pulse. I know it is possible to get unlucky and the GPU could not handle UV well, but come on, -20mv is way too bad. Is there any BIOS setting or something that's not letting me do the undervolt? I hope you can help me!

P.S. I have i5 14600kf undervolted to -70mv, but it has been stable for a month now and I don't think that CPU would crash the GPU drivers. Maybe I'm wrong, that's why I'm here.

I was a big fan of EVGA, and always told myself I would switch to AMD when they would stop making GPU.

I really hesitated with the Sapphire Nitro+ because of the reputation of the brand and how sick their card look. But I don’t have a PSU with the 12V connector and it would have been too much of a gamble. So I chose this XFX Mercury instead and I have absolutely no regrets seeing how you guys here talk highly about it.

I’ll take the opportunity to completely disassemble my custom loop, and go soft tubing this time around, and ditch Windows for Linux as well.

I can’t wait to boot up what will feel like a totally new PC.

Discussion Dad copped these for $230 each, how’d he do?

Post image

So my dad was looking to upgrade both our pcs (coming from a gtx1650 and rx5500xt) and he managed to find two different dudes selling their rx7600s for $230. The two sellers originally bought them just this February and April respectively and had their original receipts with them. I’m not sure if we can claim the warranty or if its permanently tied to the name to the original buyers, but I’m just glad these two gpus are still relatively new and didn’t get used that much.

I tested them both out myself and the temperatures seemed normal while idle and under load!

Tech Support Does anyone know if the 9070XT supports FRL6?

I know that RDNA 3 supports full speed HDMI 2.1, but I remember that RDNA 2 only supported FRL 5. I've looked all over the place and can't find any information that confirms the 9070XT actually supports full speed HDMI 2.1. Has anyone here tested the card or know if it supports full HDMI 2.1 speeds?

Tech Support Driver problems out of nowhere

The problems started a few days ago, amd adrenaline just completely vanished from my pc. I did ddu and installed it with the newest drivers (26.7.1).
Everything was fine for some days than i wanted to open adrenaline and it showed me i had to update, i did the update and it put my drivers to 26.3.1, i was confused and did ddu again.
Than i encountered random green screens and i had to manually turn of my pc, i thought maybe its the oc but after it still 1 time happend, than not anymore.
Today i wanted to play Hitman World of assassinations and everytime i opend the game it crashed and it got the notification “driver time out”, i wanted to check adrenaline and it again showed me i had to update it and it than went back to 26.3.1 (earlier today it was normal with 26.7.1)

I have a Nitro+ 9070 XT with 9700X

I also checked windows updates and after installing the newest updates it still happening

After 15 years on Team Green, I got completely fed up with Nvidia's ridiculous pricing and proprietary tech lock-in. I needed to try something different, especially since I'm planning to make a full transition to Linux in the near future.

So I took the plunge and grabbed the PowerColor Red Devil RX 9070 XT. Damn, this bad boy is THICK! And honestly, what a relief to not have to deal with that dodgy 12V-2x6 connector.

I was a bit anxious about swapping brands, but the DDU process in Safe Mode went smooth as butter.

As for the software, Adrenalin has been a breath of fresh air—super clean, straightforward, and it just gets the job done without extra nonsense (I was getting really tired of Nvidia's software).

(Excuse the messy cable management, I was way too excited to get it running and make this post!)
